When I bought this house there was a dish installed outside. But I'm not using the dish, I'm using COX internet. My router is currently plugged into one coax outlet which has fine connectivity. There are several other coax wall plates throughout the house. Would it work to move the router to any of the other coax outlets in the house, or is only one outlet active? Service outage
My area is experiencing a service outage. This happens all the time. Expected resolution in 5 hours. I want credit for this time without tv, phone, internet. There's no way to talk with anyone live or chat with 'Oliver'. I'm pretty annoyed.Mkvaughn2 years agoNew Contributor34Views0likes2CommentsInternet connection drops each hour
I am in Orange Countty, CA I continue to experience recurring packet loss for about a minute each hour. These outages disrupt calls, VPN connections, and temporarily make the internet unusable for about 60 seconds. I finally have figured out that these outages corrolate to events logged in my modem, specifically "US profile assignment change. US Chan ID: 8; Previous Profile:..." (see below) I understand in general the purpose of these changes. But is there a way to prevent them, or at least have them be less frequent (such as nightlby)? FYI the connection statistics at the modem seem to be OK (see belowo), and the connection works well (upload and download) except for these hourly channel changes. Also, this problem seems to be the same one as discussed in this Cox forum post. Is there any way of communicating this information to Cox support such as opening a level 2 ticket (without spending hours of level-1 support trying to reset the modem, sell me a new Panoramic modem, etc.)? Hello all, Bottom line up front: our internet and cable tv started to repeatedly and randomly drop out recently and I'm hoping this community can help us ID what to do to get this resolved with cox. background: Cox customer in Fairfax, VA. After years without issue, our internet and tv started dropping for 10-15 minute periods to several hours, then comes back without a readily identifiable cause for either the drop or return to service. Getting flashing orange lights, flashing green lights, sometimes a combination of both on our pw6 panoramic router when it is out. No change in our browsing behavior or equipment, started out of the blue best we can tell. Called out a technician who recommended we upgrade to pw7 router and modem. We did this last week however the drops continue at various times of day for various lengths, all of them disruptive. technicians also tested signal coming into the home and said it was fine (note the network was up and working fine at the time, not in a random down period when he visited). Another tech scheduled to come tomorrow AM. Any tips on what I should ask him to look at to get this fixed? any help would be appreciated -- thank you! signed, a frustrated dad trying to let his kids watch Disney + without interruptionsN0tACablePr02 years agoNew Contributor171Views0likes4CommentsWebmail folders missing

Consumer Reports released the results of their survey of telecommunication services. No surprise that COX is in the WORST category no matter whether you look at the "Phne TV Internet Bundles", "Internet Providers", "TV Services" categories. In the "Value" category COX is always the lowest score, and in "Customer Service", the second lowest score possible. Where "reliability" was a rating factor, COX scored the median or "average" value. Same with "speed". Why can a company with record (and increasing) profits sustain such growth with mediocre to poor services? UNREGULATED GOVERNMENT GRANTED MONOPOLIES! As in CA where COX hip-pocket politicians in the state legislature approved a carve up of the state into monopoly zones for telecom services among COX, COMCAST and XFINITY. This allowed COX for the longest time to keep its hip-pocket county commisioners from issuing construction permits to Verizon (local landline phone provider) to update their copper line to fiber which caused Verizon to abandon their services in my area to Frontier, a Chinese company that, because of Chinese law, has to make all communications on its networks available to Chinese military and industrial "intelligence" services without any type of legal review or check and balance. Why the Chinese interest in this area? It is fairly dense with high-tech companies with leading edge tech in medical, aerospace, military and civilian telecom, power generation and distribution technologies, the very areas Chinese spying has been penetrating and stealing for decades. FINALLY (probably due to anti-American Trumpists in the telecom regulating agencies from Fed to state level) Frontier was able to break the COX stranglehold on the permitting process and has just started to upgrade the local copper network to fiber, and in limited neighborhoods, offer high-speed internet via fiber. COX current response in an advertising campaign specifically calling out Frontier on speed based on their historical DSL service in order to be sure no one notices that they are transitioning to Fiber. In addition COX falsely claims a 99%+ up-time/reliability that I have not experienced EVER in Cox internet service, and in their TV service since the early 2000's. To bleed as much money out of existing customers before they discover there may be a more reliable and cost-effective option, COX has increased its customer abuse tactics. For example, charging for streaming services that are only available with a DVR-enable Cox receiver, while they KNOW you are only provisioned with (and charged for) non-DVR capable receiver (and stating when, called on the fact that their Web site says YOUR receiver IS capable of receiving the streaming service - i.e. HBOMax - that you need to upgrade to the DVR capable box at an addition $10 - 15 per month in order to use the service you are being billed for!). Another example: Initially signed up for the lowest internet speed package (at the time 100 mbps) when Verizon disabled my DSL by wiring in a new office complex between my home office and the switch so that the wire run to my house put me outside the DSL capable distance for their copper network. Subsequently I got (and saved) emails from COX telling me how I was getting a "free speed upgrade" to my existing internet service. Of course, these never appeared - at least not according to Ookla Speed Test. What did appear over time was a doubling then tripling of the "Ping" time over my DSL service which I believe is COX's interception of internet/website requests for purposes of privacy violating profiling and corporate throttling "for fun and profit" from data miners and corporations that want "priority" access to COX users. Then to rub salt into thw wounds, COX eliminated the 100 and 150 Mbps tiers, automatically "upgraded" those users to 250 mbps with an overall 40%+ fee increase, BUT NEVER UPGRADED THE ACTUAL SPEED OF THE CONNECTION!!! When contacted, they tried to tell my wife (take advantage of an ignorant woman, they thought - except she shares the same software engineering creds as I have) that in order to get these new speeds we would have to upgrade our equipment to COX "panoramic" (mesh) WiFi, which is total BS especially for a home with one computer wired to the router, and one light-use tablet connected to the internet VERY SPORADICALLY throughout any given day. (No social media accounts, little to no looking at videos, mostly email, some shopping, and some info research for non-digital hobbies.) When challenged, the excuse became, "well your modem is too old - you need to upgrade it". I've been using my own Netgear DOCSIS 3.0 modem since the beginning with COX, and the only problem is their frequent outages that sometimes the own up to as "maintenance" and other times as "outage in your area" always with the same predicted fix time of 6:00 am the next day. Despite knowing this was total BS on COX's part, I went to their web site and found a modem they claimed was DOCSIS 3.1 and compatible with their service. I purchased the modem from BestBuy, but when following the modem manufacturer's instructions for COX activation via COX web site, it failed (waited on activation to complete for several hours and gave up). I then called COX tech support number listed for Internet service activation, provided the tech with the MAC etc. and while waiting for the activation which he could not do, he tried to set up a "service call" by a tech with a replacement modem since the one I had could not be activated (despite all status indicators being normal). I told him that the modem was purchased from BestBuy and then he told me "UNLESS THE MODEM IS SUPPLIED BY COX IT WILL NOT WORK WITH COX INTERNET SERVICE". So, once again COX web site falsely advertises available services for specific hardware models! AND THEY GET AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE THEY ARE AN UNREGULATED MONOPOLY TELECOM PROVIDER!! AND THE KNOWINGLY CONTINUE TO MAKE FALSE CLAIMS AND "SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS" SOLELY TO INCREASE PROFITS WITHOUT IMPROVEMENTS TO QUALITY, QUANTITY OF SERVICE OR "CUSTOMER CARE". That's why, when talking to anyone about my telecom services I say, "COX - say it out loud - that's what you have to deal with - a bunch of....!wmcole2 years agoNew Contributor III1.7KViews4likes3CommentsHow to: Post images in the Forums with Imgur

Internet Outage
I recently changed my service provider from Century Link to Cox because I recently started working from home and thought it would be faster connection and better service. However, I am beginning to second guess my change. I had been with Century Link for over 10 years and had sporadic outages with my connection. With Cox it seem to be having outages several times everyday for the past week and before this several times a week. Am I the only one this has been happening to recently? I have the Internet Unlimited 500 and also purchased EERO because the technician said it would help with Wi-Fi connection. Working from home and having these issues is affecting my work production and making me look bad as it continues to disconnect during meetings and calls to clients. Can this be fixed? If it cannot, does anyone know of a different service provider with better service? Thanks,Bledwards342 years agoNew Contributor II140Views2likes9Commentsemail interface add space

I know this has been discussed over the last month in a prior thread, but I think another thread is more appropriate, given the severity of the issue, than adding to an old one. This situation is ridiculous, and Cox will be liable given this can have severe consequences for people, missed bills, medication notifications, etc. This is not a slight issue Cox! Just today, 4 of 18 message in my spam folder were spam. Two of the misidentified as spam were important and time sensitive. This is now a regular issue that, by my experiences, started sometime about a month ago. My kids' school district, community groups, online forums, and legitimate marketing are being as spam. The webmail interface option for "Not Junk" does not teach the service a domain or sender is not-spam, it's fake and just moves emails. There is no way to disable the spam filtering. Basically, there is no way for users resolve the issue. In response to the thinking, "This is why you always check your SPAM folder", sure, absolutely, but it isn't always that simple. Most users rely on email clients, not web access, and depending on the email client, or more importantly, what protocol the client is using, can mean these clients' users never see the what is going into the Cox spam folder. I've been dutifully reaching out to senders than are being caught up in this issue and hopefully they'll be reaching out to Cox too. For now Cox customers are up s creek without a paddle, many may not even know it. I've been customer for over 20 years and I want to stay that way, but resolving situations like these prove Cox is worth the loyalty. Cox, please reach out to the email service and get an option to disable spam filtering - at the very least. Thank you!dlarkin-dc2 years agoNew Contributor III198Views0likes6Comments- CarrieOsborne462 years agoNew Contributor35Views0likes1Comment
thinking of changing internet plans... do these all have 2-year commitments?
screenshot of my current plan vs new plan -- https://i.imgur.com/uyNATpo.png my current plan is $115/mo. my new plan not only saves me $35/mo but my internet speed goes from 200 to 500 Mbps so two wins there! the new plan costs $80/mo and then becomes $124 after two years. does this mean if i leave cox a month from now (for example) i will pay an early termination fee?JayC2 years agoNew Contributor71Views0likes1Commentwebmail 2 step verification how do I unenroll

Anyone else having serious problems using Cox email today? I am trying to send emails but when I go to start a new email it takes a minute until it loads and by that time the server time is out. In fact, nothing seems to be working right using a Cox website for email! Nothing has worked right since the last update!Mommapenny2 years agoNew Contributor II1KViews3likes31CommentsEmail Issues
Since at least this morning, I have been having difficulty receiving email from at least two different domains: networksolutions.com and bluehost.com. Support personnel at both companies have tried emailing me password reset links, but none are coming through. Yet, both companies have been able to successfully email me temporary one-time password messages. Some have taken seconds to come in while others took more than 5 minutes. Both companies suggest an issue with Cox email systems; this makes sense (some sort of spam prevention, perhaps). So I contact Cox phone support, explain the situation, and now their agent wants to transfer me to the paid premium support!?! AFAIK, they support home networks; they should have nothing to do with resolving this issue.zept0sec2 years agoNew Contributor II41Views0likes2Comments- KingFather2 years agoNew Contributor96Views1like0Comments

Slow upload speed but good download speed with MB8600
I have a Motorola MB8600 with 8600-19.3.15 as the current version - My internet package is 500Mbps down and 50Mbps up. I'm getting the download speeds but my upload speed is definitely being throttled....when I do a test the speed jumps up to ~45 and shoves itself back down to around ~10-12. Any help is greatly appreciated.sirbromeo2 years agoNew Contributor107Views0likes2CommentsCox Voice Tools
Cox Voice Tools is having issues, and I cannot log in. Does anyone know what is wrong with the site?TRoss682 years agoNew Contributor II1.1KViews0likes13CommentsI have to say this
Hello everyone, this is a bit of a rant but I feel like it needs to be out there. I recently moved from Illinois to Las Vegas and I have never experienced being in a town with one ISP having a monopoly on the market. Man do I wish that stayed true. I have only been forced to have Cox Internet for 5-6 months now and I have never experienced a worse ISP. This service is more unreliable than satellite. I can't count the amount of times I get back home on a Friday night, ready to relax, watch some TV or play a game just to have my night ruined from another all night outage. I want people to know that might have always been in a area like this that it is not normal. I lived in one of the poorest areas in IL and I can't remember a time that my Internet would just be out. A message to Cox; with a competitor on the horizon (gigablast at&t) you will lose business quickly. It's the sole fact you are the only option that you get away with 70% at best up times. It's embarrassing how Cox allows itself to be a third rate provider. I'm counting down the days until I can switch.OneMoreStimpak2 years agoNew Contributor89Views0likes2CommentsService switches?
So where I work, we switched plans a few months ago. When we switched over they told us we had a WiFi and a 5G network for cellular devices. I use a laptop, and for the past week it automatically switches me to the 5g Network. Unfortunatley, our printers are on the regular wifi network. It also tells me I cannot connect to the regular network even though it is showing as available. I am having problems accessing a few websites. I found that the IP subnet that Cox is using to assign addresses is blacklisted at 3 blacklist sites. I have reported this problem to Cox 2 times and nothing has changed. It is Cox's IP address and they need to take action to clear this issue.moyers2 years agoNew Contributor171Views0likes4CommentsTaking a week off in protest.
Just thought I would post that I am taking a week off from this forum in protest to the new changes to forum. Lack of picture upload. No spell check. Can't delete posts. Can't see who posted last and so on. The new forum is horrible IMO and so far NO response from moderator. If things aren't better in a week I may be forced to use my time on a different forum. Feel free to post your complaints here.SolvedWiderMouthOpen2 years agoEsteemed Contributor433Views1like16CommentsMajor problems with Cox email
Sending and receiving Cox email has been terribly unreliable over the past week or so, but today I've been unable to SEND any emails (other than through gmai)l. I've tried sending test emails to both my Cox and Gmail accounts. The gmail notes go through to both Cox and Gmail, but none of the Cox emails are received anywhere. I've tried from my desktop computer, from Cox Webmail, from my phone using Cox wifi, and from my phone using the 4G system (my phone is set up to use my Cox account). Looks like nothing has gone out since 8:02am AZ time today. This is a Cox issue rather than an Outlook one, since my gmail notes are being sent & received just fine. Help, please!AZ3612 years agoNew Contributor27KViews1like14Comments
