Over the past 3-4 weeks the Phoenix area and other cities have been constantly getting drops and seeing slow speeds in their internet service. With school starting for most communities and many more people working from home, these problems need to be addressed immediately. We implore you Cox, to stop blaming our modems on the problems and fix the issue with your service. This is a real issue.Cox needs to at least unblock port 80 incoming for let's encrypt acme servers. Many of us want to remote into our routers and have a certificate displayed on the web page. Many newer high end routers like my ASUS 88U will allow a certificate to be added to your DDNS address, ( COX dynamic IP.) On the 88U everything is in front of the firewall and I opened a ticket with ASUS and they verified that port 80 was being blocked by my IP. You can see bad communication in the logs of the router when it is trying to get an answer back for the key that is randomly generated. I also put a Debian linux box in the DMZ and got the same results. Now I always use a list of select IP addresses when I log in to my router from WAN but I hate the security exception issues. Cox needs to fix this as let's encrypt makes the internet a safer place and they are setting back our ability to guard and protect ourselves. https://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet-ports-blocked-or-restricted-by-cox.htmlRadon12 months agoNew Contributor II5.4KViews1like4CommentsPort Forwarding - we block all ports for your protection - the ignorant tech support people
Afterseveral frustrating hours on the phone with Cox tech and making connecting with 6 different cox support representatives, I was told by the last one that "We block all ports for your protection", and you can't do port forwarding on your Cox Panoramic modem. I insisted that makes no sense, and that I've setup dozens of routers with port forwarding successfully, until I ran into the problem with the Cox Panoramic (Arris). So the representative (who I don't recall his name), said that you could pay $10 per month and cancel after 3 months to get the "complete solutions" support who could set this up for you. I indicated, I already spoke with them and they won't do that, and referred me to the "self install" department (which was the idiot I was speaking with now). So he said there's no one else you could talk with since this is for "my protection". I indicate, even if the Complete solutions department could/should do it, it sounds like blackmail (pay up and will release the block). So in frustration, I said that nothing more you can do? He said no. And that ended the conversation. Later in the day, I actually solved the issue, by adding the port forwarding address to the Port Trigger list on the router, and that then opened the port to my app. Why 6 people could not tell me was the solution, speaks very badly about the kind of tech people Cox hires. So if you are having problems with port forwarding, this might be why you need to add to the virtual ports and the trigger.bobn2tech12 months agoNew Contributor6.9KViews0likes2CommentsOnly receiving 28Mbps and paying for gigablast. other neighbors report the same thing.
Can anyone explain why I only get a fraction of what I pay for? my last speed test was 16Mbps, and at best I get 28mbps. I pay for 1000Mbps, and I fully understand that one device will never actually get those speeds (several people are using the internet), but I am not even getting a twentieth of what I am paying for. I called the support line, and the guy wanted to restart my router and modem (of course), and then tried to have me get a tech to come look at it (for about 100$ of course). I vehemently declined that offer, I know my equipment is good, I paid for excellent brands, and both the modem and the router support +1000Mbps speeds. I told customer service they needed to have someone come check the main line in my neighborhood as my neighbor (and several others) all shared the same experience with me, we are getting hardly any internet. They supposedly created a ticket for a tech to come to inspect the box outside and gave me the ticket number, but I have not received any news on that front yet. @COX - please resolve our situation. -Sincerely, Paying CustomersSolved897Views0likes6CommentsI'm tired of my service going out.

I had an unusual experience yesterday and I'm hoping one of you can help me gain insight. My wife said she was having internet issues so I immediately power cycled "everything". Modem, router, switches, etc. on a switched surge protector. When everything came back up, the Arris Modem connection looked good as did the event log. However, I couldn't connect to Cox via internet to see if there was an outage. My wife could not connect to her work. However, I could connect to Gmail, send a Gmail to Outlook, open Outlook via web, and could successfully perform Google searches. So, I thought, perhaps there is a DNS issue going on. I tried to ping 8.8.8.8 and it timed out. I tried to tracert to 8.8.8.8 and never got a response back from my Google router. So, I concluded that perhaps my router had failed, or perhaps Google was having an issue (config is managed in the cloud) so needed a work around. I then grabbed my wife's laptop and connected it to the back of the modem and rebooted the modem. I figured if I could establish a connection that way I could jury rig a connection to her office while I addressed the router. Everything came up, I could ping 8.8.8.8, I could tracert. So, I figured I'd take a minute and swap back to the router just to confirm. Rebooted, and everything went back to working just fine. I told my wife she could go back to work, and reached out to Google to see if they could provide an explanation. They did a little research and said they had no sign of issues and my network looked good from there end (I had to enable access). So, any thoughts? The behavior suggests something like bad cached DNS, but I would have expected a power cycle to correct that. I'm trying to understand what might have occurred so I can be more proactive going forward. Then again, I've never seen this before.SolvedLovemylab12 months agoContributor III156Views0likes4CommentsOBS/Twitch Streaming Issues.
Hey there. Over the past few days/weeks I've has constant and constant and constant issues with streaming to Twitch through OBS (Streamlabs OBS as well). You could ask me if I've done this or that to try and fix things and the answer is most likely going to be yes. Through a lot of testing whether that's by bandwidth testing or actual live streams, I've tried: Streaming to multiple servers. Lowering bitrates, fps and quality. Enabling/Disabling Dynamic Bitrate. Enabling/Disabling Network Optimizations. Updating Network Adapters. Disabling Firewall altogether or making exceptions. Changing/Upgrading Modem (up to PW8) Changing plans (to 1Gig plan, Unlimited data) Resetting modem, changing ethernet cables, etc. Having multiple Technicians come out to APPARENTLY resolve issues. Reinstalling Windows and/or OBS. Running less programs in background. There's been much more than what I've listed that I've done but at the same time it's hard to remember them all, as it feels like I've been through everything and I'm frustrated/disheartened to no end. There has never been issues with me streaming connection wise whatsoever before the days/weeks EVER, ever since I started streaming months ago. Now all of a sudden this has been happening and I'm at an absolute loss of what to do anymore. If there are any more recommendations anyone can throw out there, then please do. Edit 1: There's no 'Save' button in the 'Follows & Notifications' tab to save changes in 'My Settings'. Attempts to leave the page after making a change generate an unformatted 'unsaved changes' error. There are a couple of kludge ways to save changes though. One is to completely close your browser. Changes made will be saved when you Sign In again. The other is more efficient, but appears to be a coding accident. Click 'Sign Out' in the Account Menu. Changes will be saved and you aren't signed out. It's an Easter egg 'Save' button. Edit 2: 'Cancel' and 'Save' buttons are displayed and function properly when making a change in the 'Personal' and 'Preferences' tabs. However, those buttons are missing when a change is made in the 'Follows & Notifications' tab and the unformatted error occurs when trying to leave the page. Clicking 'Sign Out' to save changes only applies to the 'Follows & Notifications' tab. Edit 3: The unformatted error was still occuring last night when trying to leave the page after making a change in "Follows & Notifications. That error is gone today. There are still no 'Cancel' and "Save' buttons when making a change in that tab, but changes are saved when leaving the page. cable burial
Hello, I had Cox internet installed in my house in October of 2021. The old line from the curb was not working so the tech ran a new line to the house. There is a spot where the line cross a piece of concrete side walk running to the back of my home. The tech said someone would be coming out run the line under the concrete and bury the line. This was around 2 years ago. I have called the customer service line and explained the situation earlier this year, at least 3 months ago. The support rep didn't fully understand the issue and sent a tech to my home. The tech arrived and quickly, but politely, told me he couldn't assist with my issue but he would turn this over to the construction/burial team. I have not been contacted since. The line gets run over everytime I take the trash out and whenever I have to move heavy items to be back garage. I also want to get some concrete installed in front of my gate and it would be in Cox's best interest to run this line through conduit before it gets buried under concrete. Please let me know what I need to do or who I need to contact to get this accomplished.
