Outages Zip Code 85018
Over the last few days (since Sunday), my service area (in Phoenix, zip code 85018) has had multiple outages that last for several hours. Today (Wednesday), it started in the morning. The issue was supposed to be resolved by 12:30 and now that deadline has been extended to 4:22 PM. We had similar lengthy outages on Sunday, Monday, etc. Can someone provide clarity on what has been done to resolve this issue once and for all? Thank you.Cazz14 months agoNew Contributor III1.3KViews4likes56Comments85008 outage

I’m fed up! Everytime the power goes out, 1/2 hour later, bam, the internet/cable is gone as well. This has started over the last year and a half. I have a Generac, so I’ve got power, but no internet. First, technology is advancing but not Cox. They’re just taking our money. REV will be in our area soon and I’ll be able to tell Cox to shove it. If they cared one bit about their customers, it would be different but they don’t. They don’t even have Cox employees coming out to check problems anymore. I get contractors that have no clue what they’re doing. Which means I have to wait for a trained Cox guy to come and solve the problem. My son dropped Cox 3 yrs ago, & went with REV. . He hasn’t lost internet one time that I have. He’s lost internet 3 times in 3 yrs after unholy storms have come through and only for a few hours instead of a week like I have. Competition is coming Cox and you can’t compete.lwporter454 months agoNew Contributor108Views0likes2CommentsWTF!!
I just moved to Phoenix area in April from Seattle Wa. My internet has gone out at least 4X if not more since then! I thought Comcast/Xfinity was bad, but Cox is the absolute worst....I never had outages in 40+ yrs up there! Their customer service sucked assholio tho, but this reminds me of the 80s. My internet been down all day and I have no idea what’s happening. I’m in the 89108 North Vegas. Thank the Lord for Metropcs they are consistent. I pay Cox thru an apt contact situation included in the lease. Can’t get around it. Or get money back on power outages. They can stay out for days, and my bill remains the same. Would like to know what’s going on with the all day outages. It’s hot out here 104 degrees maybe it’s that? Who knows they certainly don’t give us any information on what’s going on we’re totally in the dark. Since they shut down replies from my previous post, I thought I would start another with an update. I received a text saying my service had been restored. Of course it was still down and the whole neighborhood was still down. The app said service was good and no place to report the outage. After much searching I finally got a live agent to text with. I explained we’ve been without service for weeks and I want to report an outage. He made me go thorough all the scripted troubleshooting steps resetting the router and other nonsense. I spent an hour with this agent that could only read his script. Finally he said they would have to send someone to the house and it might cost me $75 if it was my issue. Of course I said get them here so I can talk to a real human and explain that there is still a real outage. The technicians came today, sat in the car watching a video. I went out to the car and told them they should check the cox green box in the neighbors yard to make sure they have connectivity there before looking in my house. They left shortly after that without giving me an update. I then checked the app and it now says there is an outage in your area. Go figure. So frustrating. looks like Verizon business has hot spots available. So I've been without internet for 4 days after switching modems. I talked to five representatives that did nothing but offer for a tech to go to my home and fix it. Of course they want to charge me, but at this point I have no choice. I made an appointment for a tech to come out to my home and they never showed up. I called Cox once again and they informed me that the tech tried to call me and text, but that was a lie. Hey also said he went to my house and knocked on the door and nobody answered, yet another lie because my dad was outside in the yard waiting. Why does Cox allow this type of service to their customers? I have been with Cox for over 15 years and this is how they treat a loyal customer. Shame on Cox. I just checked for a reschedule of my appointment and it says my appointment is on hold and to call. My reschedule appointment was already set for the next day. What else can I do to get my service back on? Is there any suggestions on other internet services I can switch to? Please help. Hello All, I am recently a new cox customer, been using them for the past two months. There are some good and one major bad. The good is great gaming speeds and haven't really had any internet issues. Now this is where i am now not enjoying being a customer. The past two months nearing the last week of the bill cycle my household of two which average 20-30gigs a day is seeing an insane spike of up to 250gigs in one day?! First off how? Second please cox why cant you explain remotely close to what caused that spike. And now that i read other forums, last month my OTHER category was at 4%, this month somehow is at 37% taking up more than streaming???? Oh yeah and you cant see what other means. Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent frustrating experience with Cox Cable in the hopes that it might help others who might be dealing with similar issues. Recently, my monthly bill increased by $60 because my promotional package expired. While I knew the expiration was coming, the sudden hike was shocking and unreasonable. Here’s a breakdown of my ordeal: Live Chat Nightmare: I decided to use the Live Agent chat on the Cox website to address my concerns. The first agent took an absurd amount of time to respond to simple affirmations like "Yes, please proceed." Eventually, I was told I needed to be transferred to the "Loyalty Team." I waited for over 30 minutes without any response, despite prompting "Hello" once during the wait. Frustrated, I ended the chat. Disappointing Phone Support: Next, I called the billing department. The representative who answered sounded uninterested and unprofessional. He repeated questions I had already answered, and I could hear him loudly drinking through a straw, which was quite distracting and unprofessional. When I inquired about reducing my rate, he suddenly became more attentive. However, he tried to upsell me a package that included a cell phone line, which I didn't need. This offer would only save me $10, which was not a great deal considering I am satisfied with my current cell service. I mentioned a better offer I found on the Cox website, but he was unable to locate it. In total, I wasted about 1.5 hours of my day only to find a better rate on my own through the Cox website. I remember the days when contacting customer service could yield fantastic deals, but it seems those times are gone. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Cox? Any tips on how to navigate these frustrating situations? Thanks for reading.. and may you have a better time than I did.WhyCoxWhy14 months agoNew Contributor495Views3likes5CommentsMy entire experience with cox has been terrible
Hi, I would like to report my experience with your company so far. I am moving to Nebraska on 7/13 and will need internet. I had a promotional deal I wanted to use but my apartment uses quick connect and told me I had to use a link to sign up. This link would not allow me to use the promotional deal. I talked to Gretchen on live chat who set me up with the deal I found and the quick connect modem. Unfortunately, she activated it immediately instead of on 7/13. I would have to pay for a month of service before I even move in. That was my first problem. Problem 2: she said she would put me in touch with the loyalty department because they could fix this problem. I waited for 2 hours and the chat got disconnected. Problem 3: I messaged live chat again. The person also said they would put me in touch with the loyalty department. I waited for 2.5 hours before I heard from someone in the loyalty department. At this point it’s midnight. Problem 4: Josh L from the loyalty department said he couldn’t put my account on hold because I have a pending work order (???) and I’d have to wait until after the work order is complete. After I explained that there is literally nobody even at the address, he said that I would have to wait 30 days before I could put my account on hold. When I explained AGAIN that I need the hold for 30 days from now because I’m not even in the state of Nebraska yet, he said there is nothing he can do. I used my own customer service experience and did some problem solving for him and asked if they could just credit the account for the first month (even though I’d still be paying for a week that I would not be there yet) and he said he couldn’t do that because they only do that for people having a problem with their service!! I’m having multiple problems with the CUSTOMER service! In fact, the only experience I’ve had with Cox so far has been problem after problem! I canceled my account immediately. I never thought I’d say that I wish I could bring Comcast internet with me to Nebraska!Lordhelpme4 months agoNew Contributor73Views0likes1CommentPart time service, full time price.

Thunderbird recently did an automatic update to V115 for me. I was in the middle of the Cox-to-Yahoo flog, and the update seemed to cause some problems, so I downloaded T-bird V102 and reverted to it. The re-install warned me that it might muck up my profile, and it did. Today I see only a very short address book – about 10 addresses that have been collected in the last few days. The only thing I would really like to retrieve is my previous address book. This morning, I fired up T-bird, hit the Hamburger > Help > Troubleshooting > Profile > Open. It opened a profile called C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\eskwfzbf.default-release-1. A search revealed that there is another Thunderbird profile folder called C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\eskwfzbf.default-release-1. These two folders have the same Create Dates and Modify Dates, but the Roaming one is considerably bigger – 2.8 GB vs 1.1 GB. An exhaustive search uncovers no other Thunderbird Profile folders. So my first question is – what is the difference between the Local and Roaming folders? And does the "–Release-1" ending part of the name have any significance for my task? More info if needed: The \Roaming\ version of the Profile folder contains three subfolders eskwfzbf.default-release-1 (225 MB) ib2tlmhy.default - (47 bytes) v52htabf.default-release (2.6 GB) The \Local\ version of the Profile folder contains three subfolders eskwfzbf.default-release-1 (125 MB) | ib2tlmhy.default - (0 bytes) v52htabf.default-release (1.0 GB Note the size differences. And finally, the \Roaming\ version of the \esk...release-1\ sub-folder contains 3 ABOOK files abook.sqlite - 256 Kbytes abook.sqlite-shm - 32 KB abook.sqlited-wal - 0 bytes On the other hand, the \Local\ version of the \esk...release-1\ sub-folder does not contain any ABOOK files. From all of this, I am concluding that the address book I am looking for is probably the abook.sqlite 256Kbyte file in the roaming version of the profile folder. However, when I open any of the abook files with Notepad, I don't see anything that looks like a bunch of addresses. I don't expect Notepad to show me any organized or formatted result – but shouldn't I see some text that resembles addresses? What is next? During the Cox-to-Yahoo transition, I made a number of changes to email accounts and passwords. They are now set up the way I want them, and I DO NOT WANT TO UNDO any of those changes. But I think I should be good if I simply copy today's \Roaming\Profile into today's \Local\ folder. Confirm? I woke up early this morning because of some neck pain, and since I could not sleep, I checked my Email, and bank accounts, just to find my checking account was overdrawn because of a $78.02 charge taken by Cox Cable in the middle of the night that was not authorized by me, nor due.... So, I attempted to login to my account in order to find further information, only to be met with an notification that the site was under maintenance. This is the same thing I got when I tried to contact tech support, that they could not access my account due to maintenance, and was disconnected. I do not have a cable internet bill due until January 24, so it makes no sens that they would jump the gun, and withdraw the payment so early from my bank, which they do not have authorization to do without my expressed consent. I did not have enough in the account at this time to cover it, so they left me with a negative balance, and have made themselves impossible to contact. What a bunch of criminals. They should all be locked away, and not allowed to have a monopoly as internet providers, but they feel they can do whatever they want because they are not affected by competition, allowing them to steal as much money as they want from their clients, whenever they feel like it!!846Views0likes3CommentsBandwidth problems

I'd like to find out if anyone else has had an experience with Cox as terrible as my recent experience in Oklahoma City, OK: My home internet has been out for 3 or 4 days now. It started when our modem suddenly stopped getting any signal from Cox. The modem has power and has shown zero issues up to this point. I thought maybe it was that particular coaxial connection, so I tried hooking the modem up in other rooms around the house that that have a connection available. Same issue: modem powers on, but no connection to Cox. I then got on the Cox website to verify that my modems MAC and Serial Numbers were correct, as well as to try and reset my modem from my online account settings. Still no improvement. So, I decided tochat with a Cox support agent. The FIRST agent I talked to looked into all kinds of things and ended up telling me that I needed a new modem (which, of course they immediately started trying to sell me one of theirs). I said no thanks, went to the store, and bought a new modem. The new modem is the exact same brand and model (Netgear CM500) as the previous modem I'd been using for years with Cox, so I know for a fact it is compatible. I get home, I hookup the new modem, but still no connection to Cox. I try to activate the modem according to both the manufacturers instructions and the instructions on the Cox website, but I can't finish it myself because, of course, Cox can't establish a connection to the modem! So, I decide tochat with a Cox support agent AGAIN. The SECOND agent has me provide the MAC and Serial Number of the new modem so that they can activate it on my account for me. I provide them all of this information, and they tell me that they have activated the modem on their end, but that they still can't establish a connection to the new modem. Then, all of a sudden, the chat session ends before I can get anything else from them. Big help that was, Cox! Once again, I reach out to a Cox support agent. I tell the THIRD agent everything that's happened up to this point, about the sudden disconnection on my old modem, going out and buying a new modem, going through the headache of getting the new modem activated, and getting disconnected from the previous agent. This agent wants all the MAC and Serial Number information again so they can make sure the modem is activated. I provide all the information to them, they tell me the modem is activated "on their end", and that I need to reset the modem (unplug it, wait 10 seconds, plug back in). Then they tell me to "wait a while", I'm assuming so that Cox can try to connect to the modem. After about 10 or 15 minutes of waiting, and still no connection, this agent tells me that it's a problem with my modem. UM, EXCUSE ME? You mean, this brand new modem that the FIRST agent told me to go buy for absolutely no reason? Not likely. At this point I told the third agent that I'd like a technician to come out to my house and check the Cox lines outside because the only remaining possibility is that there's an issue with their equipment. The third agent then told me that they can't send a technician to my house because they're not allowed to touch equipment that's not provided by Cox (in reference to the modem). I tell them that's fine, because I'm not asking them to touch my modem, I want them to check up on their own equipment! The agent then goes back to insisting that the issue is with my brand new equipment. Well, of course it is, because Cox is just infallible, right?! At this point, I'm ready to drop Cox all together. I've never had such a poor customer service experience in my life. I worked in customer service for a number of years, and it never once occurred to me to tell a customer "it's not us, it's you" if I hadn't already exhausted every possibility on our end first. It's a shame too, because this is really the first issue I've ever had with Cox. At this point, the hot spot on my T-Mobile phone isproviding a more reliable connection for my home than Cox seems able to. In the meantime, I've talked with co-workers who live in nearby cities who've told me that their Cox service has been out for the exact same amount of time, with the exact same symptoms (modem suddenly receives no signal), who've been told the exact same thing by customer service agents (go buy a new modem), then been treated the exact same way after the recommendation doesn't work ("it's not us, it's you"). Is anyone else starting to see a pattern here?1.4KViews4likes5CommentsWhy daily outages for over a week?!!
