When does the data cap reset precisely?
Mine says the data cycle rolls over the 24th which is today but I'm worried the data cap won't reset and I will charged overage fees. Also, as a side note I would also like to know why I bought 150 down speed but only get 30 every time I test it. Edit: According to the rep on twitter it is exactly 1 day after the date the website lists. So since mine says March 25th - April 24th it would be April 25th.5.4KViews0likes6CommentsHigh data usage on one day
Hello, my tracker is showing I have one day with extremely high data usage at 291 GB, meanwhile all the other days are at around 23 GB and Cox is giving me no explanation on what caused this. Anyone know how this can happen? I barely watch tv, do not game, work computer was off, and my cell phone was not connected to the internet.758Views0likes2CommentsHuge spike in data usage since switching to Gigablast
My brother and I switched to Gigablast last month, and this current cycle we have used more data each day (according to our Cox online account) than we did during our HIGHEST usage day last billing cycle. Is this due to Gigblast and having the ability to download things faster and in higher quality? We have not changed anything in terms of the number of devices using the internet, streaming significantly more shows, games, videos, etc. We have maintained our usage of devices, yet, we have apparently used 86% of our 1.28 TB data plan in 13 days (almost exactly what we used in 30 days last cycle). This is very strange. Has anyone else had a similar issue? What can we do about it, besides upgrading our data plan, which we are trying to avoid?507Views1like1CommentData Caps in Rhode Island
I have seen on various Reddit threads that in Rhode Island and Virginia Cox does not have data caps on internet usage due to local competitors offering unlimited data. In my neighborhood- Verizon offers unlimited data. However- only the in-store agent seemed to think I would have unlimited data when I asked. I was not convinced by his answer, I think he was just trying to keep me as a customer. I have tried to look at pricing packages to see how much additional data would cost me, and these pages are unavailable (the load, but there is nothing on the page). Speaking with an agent, they have said there are no additional data packages for my area right now. <- Is that because data is unlimited? I can't seem to get a straight yes or no. The other agent I chatted with answered with a blanket "All internet plans come with a 1.25 TB cap". I would like to know is Cox Internet in the Rhode Island market area unlimited?1.2KViews0likes0CommentsDATA OVERAGE
So my data date range is from the 21st of the month and the 20th of the next month. There is this March 16 to May 15 data pause but my end date for data reset is in the 20th of this month. I am already at 750+GB on this day and my calculations on my internet usage will be 1111+ GB at the end of the range. How does this pause thing work? If I am over 1024GB before the 15th it will be paused but the next day it will resume? and then I will get charged $10 dollars per 50GB over the limit? Can I buy the one time $30 500GB additional just for this month without making it per month pay? And why is that my payment due is different date from the Data date range? Why won't my data reset on the day I pay it? Any mod here please answer ALL my questions.827Views0likes2CommentsCOX data measuring tool is off
I have been going back and forth with COX for about a month now trying to explain that their traffic analyzer is off but have only been told that it can't be because they work with a "third party" who's own 2018 report show that theyDO have a chance over over counting traffic used. There has been no report for 2019 released to the public yet so it is impossible to verify if they fixed the issue. The problem is that I've spoken to my router manufacturer who has assured me that as long as my router firmware is up to date the wifi traffic should be accurate to the KB. After my own research I've found that the only way to be sure of the traffic used on wifi is to take the measurement from the router (which I do) and nothing else (COX uses the modem) so I'm starting to think that they are sending a fair amount of data to my modem (my personal modem not theirs) and then charging me for it, which they shouldn't do per their support reps, or their measuring tool is off which they wont even consider. I'm curious if anyone else has run into this issue or even just COX's refusal to engage with their paying customers about possible issues.574Views0likes2Comments150 GB data in one day, how is this possible?
Hello all, Looking for help. I received an email stating that I am close to my data cap limit of 1TB. In January, i have been averaging 20 to 30 GB daily but on a Sunday I hit 150GB . I have my network locked by MAC addresses, so it's not an intruder. I cut the cord to cable two days prior and only kept Internet. I cannot figure out why on a Sunday, I burned 150GB. I called tech support and they have no clue Any ideas??2.2KViews0likes6CommentsData Caps
Why does cox make you pay for unlimited data, I just bought COD MW and its a 164gb game, that is like 4 days of data gone in one day, I know all the other providers don't have data caps, but why does cox have it? It is so annoying when you check your bill and see 100$ in overages. I just want to download my games without being paranoid all the time.2.5KViews1like11CommentsData usage meter doesn't match router usage reports.
I have gone over my data usage cap the last 2 months. Previously my data usage was between 300-600 GB per month, well under the cap. I decided to keep track of the total input/output of data from my tp-link router. For the last 2 days the Cox usage meter says I used ~80GB, but my router says I have downloaded ~ 4GB. Does anyone sees have a discrepancy like this? Is there anything else that could giving a false report to Cox?1KViews0likes2Comments
