Planned disruptions
What are the laws followed for negatively impacting work from home with planned interruptions and no notice. This has caused a negative impact as I work from home and distress as this interferes with financial ability. What financial responsibility is Cox taking for this?Kdutoit15 months agoNew Contributor84Views0likes2CommentsWhat is CoxWiFi?
My computer lists three routes for internet access, 2.4G, 5G, and CoxWiFi. I use 5G and am happy with it. The first two are associated with my Arris TG1682G gateway. But I'm wondering what CoxWiFi is about, in part because it isn't secured. I assume that it's somehow also associated with the gateway. Is that right? I see that a neighbor is on Cox's list of WiFi hotspots but I am not. Can anyone access the internet through my CoxWiFi port? Why is a neighbor on the Cox list but I am not, i.e. do you have to sign up for that? Please don't infer that I want to be on the Cox list. I'm just wondering what's going on, i.e. does it provide free internet access to my neighbors/passersby or if there are any security implications. Well been out of service for 8 days and no updates, responses or activity. Have not seen a CIX truck anywhere in area all this time. This has to be the worst customer service company I. The US. I managed to complete the conversion to Yahoo (simple login and setting new password). Eventually I got it on my iPhone (had to add as a new account rather than change settings from cox.net servers). Then I got it to work for Thunderbird (missing clue in instructions was to use OAuth2). And I have used both the Yahoo email app for iPhone, and the web interface on my desktop. A few test emails from one account (I have 3) to the others, and it's looking pretty good. Then, I sent from gmail. Sometimes it never arrives, sometimes it goes to the Inbox, and sometimes it goes to Junk (iPhone mail) or Spam (Yahoo app) but nowhere on Thunderbird. A friend sent 2 emails from gmail, 1 to just 1 of my "new" cox.net accounts and it went to junk/spam. He sent the 2nd to all 3 "new" cox.net accounts it was fine. I had an important email sent to me (with a time limit, from the government!) this afternoon and it never showed up. Ideas? I looked for any filters, but gmail? ftb.ca.gov? Yahoo seems to want $5/month if you want to talk to them. Not happy at this point and may start the painful transition to gmail or other service. Or am I missing something?kseene5 months agoNew Contributor II2.1KViews2likes11CommentsNot my fault but I’m stuck with it.
Early this morning I scheduled to have fiber installed in my home. The fiber option is new in our area so my home is starting from scratch to make the switch. I scheduled the install for next week, June 11th. Around noon a couple guys from Cox showed up and said they were there to run cable for the fiber. They told me that my internet would go down for about 15 minutes. Almost an hour goes by and I still have no internet so I go out to look for the guys and they are gone. No update, no other information, nothing. I get in on the chat to learn that this was just the prep work for the install and the coax connections for the existing internet were turned off and I wouldn’t have internet until the install was completed. And that is scheduled for a week from now. Apparently the prep work should have been done close to or the day of the install. Keep in mind I work remotely so now my job is negatively affected. They tell me that the incident has been escalated but it may be a couple of days before they get back to me to tell me what the schedule is for getting it fixed. This is completely unacceptable. It’s not my fault this happened. Someone at Cox screwed up in sending that crew out so early. And now I have no internet service until further notice. How is something like this not answered immediately? How is something like this not prioritized when it was a mistake by Cox.Tkeller44185 months agoNew Contributor38Views0likes1CommentBilling Issues / Ignored by Rep in Chat
So I've been with Cox for the last 12 years and recently had an issue with my bill. I tried calling to see if I could get a resolution but it was outside of their hours. So I tried to use the chat feature Saturday, June 1st. After speaking to an Agent I was told they were transferring me to the Retention Department and was promptly forgotten about for over 30 minutes before I finally got tired of waiting and ended the chat. As we speak right now, I attempted to reach out to the chat again and have again been ignored. So now, on top of the issues I've been having with interrupted service and unilateral changes to my bill without any explanation or added value to my service, I am adding this to the growing pile of things Cox has been doing poorly. I've attached a log of the chat in case you would like to see the level of customer service I've received.Kylah5 months agoNew Contributor71Views0likes3CommentsValued Customer??

Several days ago, exactly the same day as I had to transition to Yahoo email (Cox email stopped working), my Twitter/X LOGIN/SIGN-IN started failing on every computer and browser I've tried. I also haven't found any online discussions describing this particular issue. I can't help thinking it may have something to do with Twitter/X not syncing with my new email setup. It seems a bit too coincidental, but I can't see how to fix it as there is no access to my twitter/X account to make any adjustments. SYMPTOM: Login/Sign-In ATTEMPT Results In Infinite Blue Spinning Segment of Circle: I can VIEW twitter/X posts/comments just fine, but I CANNOT LOGIN/SIGN-IN. I load twitter.com (which redirects to x.com) or directly load x.com, and I click on the "Sign-in" button under the "Already have an account?" line, and all I get on every platform is an EMPTY vertical rectangular pop-up centered in the display, which then starts a centered small almost invisible gray circle with a blue segment circling clockwise around on the circumference...apparently infinitely (Picture an aerial view of a blue model train locomotive running around a circular track forever, and you kind of get the image) I haven't heard of anyone having to do anything special for Twitter/X, and I'm concerned if I create a new X.com account I won't be able to connect it to my old info and it will all be lost.ExSophus5 months agoNew Contributor34Views0likes1CommentCannot Send Mail

Coax Service Upload Speeds
I'm quite sure this has been brought up a million times. Perhaps if it keeps coming up though, someone high up at Cox with some pull may take notice... What is the deal with the overly disproportionate cable internet bandwidth packages? Having to pay for the 1Gbps DL plan just to get (up to) 35Mbps is quite ridiculous. There is more of a use case these days for 50Mbps+ upload than there is for a gigabit download. With the ever-increasing utilization of cloud storage, remote work, and self hosted services, Cox would benefit from taking a step back and reevaluating their plan options. Don't try telling me that it is an infrastructure limitation. I understand the capability differences between fiber optic and coax. It would be unfair to compare fiber ISPs to Cox Cable like others have done previously on this forum. That said, modern DOCSIS 3.1 modems (as required by Cox) absolutely have the channel technology to offer higher upstream bandwidth. If I can wirelessly obtain 60Mbps+ upload speeds from a 5G modem inside my brick home using a $10/month plan from a major carrier, then Cox has zero excuses to provide faster upload when they have the upper hand from using a physical medium. I would pay more per month for a 100/100 plan than I currently do for a 1000/35 plan, and I know I'm not alone. All Cox has to do is offer it, why can't they?nsa_xploit5 months agoNew Contributor37Views0likes1Comment- andykinney5 months agoNew Contributor77Views0likes1Comment
Service down
Second day in a row service is down around 2 in the afternoon. I truly cannot count how many times this has happened. The only thing I do know is that the bill arrives consistently and that’s the only “consistent” in your service. I pay an extraordinarily high amount in return for which I lose work time, never get a straight answer or a real cause for why this happens so often, and while the technicians they send out are nice, they have never fixed the issue. I don’t doubt the reason is that it’s the service itself that needs to be made more robust and no technician could do anything about that. $129 a month just for internet. Inexcusable.mress19665 months agoNew Contributor34Views0likes1CommentDo Better
