Gmail POP-ing cox.net worked, now with yahoo hosting it doesn't

I posted to another message that was marked "SOLVED".  Not  sure what it was marked solved as I see people are having issues. I use gmail and before this transition used POP to pull my cox.net email into my gmail.  My cox.net account has been transferred to Yahoo.  I logged into Yahoo's webmail using Cox.net and see current email there.

The POP settings for Yahoo are not working.  here are the settings and error message.

This stuff is not rocket science.  This is most likely poor planning and no testing.

  1. I knew I should have gotten away from cox.net email a loooonnng time ago

I feel the same - I've had the looming sense of doom staying on Cox email, but was too lazy to do anything about.  Now this headache.  The decision-makers in this company need to have their employment terminated.

Cox  totallly dropped the ball.. it appears they did no testing or QA of different scenarios with all the common email tool/apps.. I feel they just assumed everyone used cox.net email apps and nothing else... very poor customer support from Cox on this now as they just defer to Yahoo.

Hi Darkatt , Have you attempted this with a gmail account?  And does it work for you?

I have a  question for you; When you generate that pwd? Do I then need to change my yahoo/cox.net account to that generated pwd? Then that is the pwd I use when I "pop" my yahoo/cox.net email to my gmail account?

    Hi,

Did u ever this resolved WITHOUT using Gmailify? I had it working but not a fan of gmailify leaving the emails in yahoo.

I got it to work using the app generated pswd as Darkatt indicated above.

And no, WM you do not change ur cox/yahoo regular pswd.

Like you though, I knew I should have dumped cox a long time ago. This bs is typical of how they do business.

I got it working without using Gmailify.
You need to go into ur yahoo security center and generate a pswd for a third party app and then use that in gmail to set up the pop3 retrieval.
