Who hires these technicians?!
You’d think professional “technicians” that were hire & trained by the company and have worked there for years can manage to solve a connection issue in a timely manner! I just can’t see why you need forever and a day? Don’t you work there? How many issues can happen in your field of work that you have no idea how to solve? And it doesn’t help to contact support because they’re just there to say what they’re paid to say! “Rest assure, our technicians are working as fast as they can to resolve this issue.” Blah blah! How do you know?! Are you right there with them? This is crazy! Cox Communications, COULD YOU PLEASE hire more reliable and more certified technicians that can help the people you bill monthly with their issues! I mean when it’s time to pay, the bill never has “connection issues”. It makes its way to my account promptly every single month! My 2 year contract with Cox is expiring next month - currently on the 500/50 plan for $49/month. Really worried that this will shoot up. Has anyone seen ads or had any good renewal contracts lately? Or any suggestions on who to contact/call before my contract expires for a good renewal? I'm in Irvine CA, and Cox Cable is the only choice for high-speed internet (other than ATT DSL with max speed at 100/10, and ATT truly stinks), so I can't really threaten to cancel. On the other hand, Cox has been great - actual speeds are higher than advertised and very reliable service, so I'd be happy with another long contract with Cox, though really want to stay at the current rate (or as close as possible).ratoren9 months agoNew Contributor II108Views0likes1CommentCox Parent Control Not Functioning

Internet usage "spike" before end of cycle
I haven't ever exceeded 89gb/day over the last 2 months (as far back as you can see online). I typically use around 50gb or less per day, and have not exceeded my monthly limit in 10 months of using the service. Yesterday, I get an email saying I'm at 90% of my data usage for the month but that my cycle would be resetting the next day. Coincidentally, the day before the cycle was going to reset, Cox is saying I used 258gb in one day - the equivalent of streaming 4k video for 30+ hours - and now I'm over my data limit for the month. Support suggested someone may be stealing my WiFi (there are no unauthorized devices on my router) and I should reset my password. No way to check which devices are using that much data. Maybe it's a crazy coincidence and a WiFi pirate logged in the day before my cycle reset and used 400% more data than usual, or Cox is artificially inflating the numbers at the end of the month in order to collect "overdraft" data fees. If there's an attorney or other customers interested in investigating this, I would be interested to see what you find.Ks19949 months agoNew Contributor II321Views0likes10CommentsNon-Cox modem/router

THEN I decided to Google cox communications compatibility and see lots of posts stating the Cox disables MoCA multiple times a day on people. I've been having some trouble with my home Internet service this past week. Service kept dropping for a few minutes then resuming. A Cox technician came out yesterday and found an old splitter buried in a wall that seemed to have been part of the problem. He scanned the upstream line and also found that my line had significant interference. He broke me off a clean drop and verified that it was clean between the Cox box and my home, and I installed a fresh new quad-shielded piece of pre-terminated RG6. Here's the issue: If I look at the cable modem logs, I'm still getting constant errors. While I've read that Code 16 errors on channel 159 are no big deal and can pretty much be ignored, I'm not so sure about the dynamic range window errors. I've been running a ping out to Google DNS since installing the new line and, while the shut downs don't seem noticeable anymore, there are instances where the network goes down for something like 13 minutes. On November 15th we were having Cox install internet at our new home and the installer accidentally drilled through our AC/Heating system causing nearly $10,000 in damage. Cox referred us to their insurance carrier stating that the repair cost was above their threshold and their insurance carrier has been stalling for weeks saying they're trying to determine if the installer was an employee or a contractor (seems that should be easy to find out). We have not had heat for weeks and family members are getting sick from the cold winter temperatures at night. Our last communications (today 1/4/24) they stated: "I’m still in the process of confirming if the tech who damaged your AC is a COX employee vs a vendor employee. I will follow up weekly with my client if I do not receive a response." A "weekly" follow-up with Cox to find out if the damage was from a contractor or employee tells us they're not taking it seriously, and this isn't going to be resolved quickly. They also suggested we file a claim with our homeowners insurance in the meantime, which could negatively impact us with increased insurance rates and possibly being cancelled. Any suggestions to get this resolved faster so we have heat in our home? Neither of these sites are on any of my blocked lists - and I can't find anything in the spam folder either. I have checked with both B of A and Capital One, and they have my correct email on file. I do use a VPN, although I've never had any trouble before. However, I also tried turning off the VPN to receive emails, and I'm not getting any from those senders. Can someone give me some pointers as to what to check for and where I can find it? Thanks in advance! Steve P.S. I was initially unable to send this message since I tried to verify my email using my Cox email address. That email was never received, so I switched it to my Gmail address and it worked. So maybe if someone at Cox would be so kind as to do some checking under the hood and find out what happened to the email Cox should have sent me for verification to this forum, that might give a clue as to what's going on. Awaiting your response. Thanks again!stevicus10 months agoNew Contributor124Views0likes7CommentsSpeed to router intermittent dropping down
The speed to my Wi-Fi router typically is 500 mbps however it occasionally drops to 20 mbps. I changed out my router yesterday with cox but it is still dropping down a few times a day. Is this normal or is it a problem?dcompton2110 months agoNew Contributor86Views0likes3CommentsImportant emails getting blocked
This problem haspostedseveral other users over the years. I have searched but there is no definitive answer; I have contacted Cox directly and theirconclusion is " we don't see a problem." But I'll post this anyway. For about a year I have been unable to get any emails from Newegg, a popular computer parts seller. I have an account there. When I try so sign in, they send a verification email that I never receive, so I cannot access my account. However, If I sign up with my wife's email account (which is a Cox sub-account), it works. I contacted Newegg, and they don't know why this is happening. Just this week I bought a new iPhone, which came with gift card. The gift card code is sent by email. Apple says it has been sent. I haven't received it. I had Apple re-send it, they confirmed it had been sent, but it has not been received. Before you ask, it is not in my spam folder, and I do not have a blocked sender list.wirewheels10 months agoNew Contributor II2.2KViews1like23CommentsNot getting 2Gb speeds
I just bumped my speeds from 1GB to 2GB in Henderson, NV. My speedtests (speedtest.net) are running the exact same on the new 2gb speed as the old 1gb speed. I am going straight from the PW8 (port 4) to my PC on the supplied CAT6 cable. My Ethernet card is 2.5gb, and I changed the setting for MAX speed from 1.0Gb to 2.5Gb full duplex On the Cox Wifi App, it is saying that I am getting the full 2Gb to my gateway. Cox sent out a 3rd party technician, but they are unable to test for speeds higher than 1Gb (which is weird). Curious if anyone else had the same experience. I am currently trying to get a COX technician to come out.train10 months agoNew Contributor638Views2likes2CommentsModem problem
My modem is burnout, my daughter is getting me a new one since I’m not at home. How can we set it up?SolvedCasavidrio10 months agoNew Contributor122Views0likes4CommentsCustomer Service (or lack there of)
I'm considering my options regarding cable TV service and was trying to get a simple question answered: how much would Internet Only cost me? On the Cox website, everytime I select "Internet Only" I get packages recommended similar to what I have already. I tried the chat feature and was ghosted after I asked the same question (they were going to connect me to the "right" dept, just never did). Can someone (perhaps from Cox///) point to me as to where I can get clear service pricing??TomH110 months agoNew Contributor90Views0likes5CommentsPublic 5g wifi tower installed in my parents office
Whoever set up the wifi in my dad’s office, installed the panoramic router about two feet from where he sits, then installed another wifi router 5 feet away on the other side of his chair. There were also unknown accounts for secondary access to his cox account. My dad was recently diagnosed with some kind of cognitive decline syndrome, and i have to wonder if there is some kind of identity theft attack going on here. It took me most of the day to turn off the panoramic wifi, and run it in “bridge “ mode. However, once In bridge mode, I whipped out my emf meter and find that it is still broadcasting public coxwifi. I am more than a little pissed off that this was installed a couple feet from my dad’s head. You should know that if you have a panoramic router that your property is being used for their network and you are paying them for it. I will be looking into the legality of this whole scam, and the possibility that cox is responsible for my father’s dementia.Nbloyd10 months agoNew Contributor74Views0likes4CommentsPrice Increase
So I just got hit with a bill increase of over 109%. Went to the local store and they said they would reduce the rate some but since I have paid the bill (autopay) there was nothing they could do about it. So I basically got screwed for $40+ and have a bill that's higher than it was previously. All for a service that goes out a couple of times a week. I guess it's time to start shopping.jrwill22856810 months agoNew Contributor186Views1like1Comment
