As noted by NUMEROUS other customers, the internet outages are constant. My internet stops at least three times each night between 6 and midnight and, for some unknown reason, at least twice during the day. i have upgraded my modem to no avail. This is a COX problem and I am taking steps to get off their accounts. I have Tmobile phone service and that is what i have to use to determine if Cox is having an outage. And Cox never acknowledges an outage but the service goes up and down. Over 13 Internet outages the past 6 weeks
I started on Cox in April of 2023 and generally the service has been pretty good up until about 6 to 8 weeks ago. Now I'm experiencing generally two outages each work weak spanning several hours. Since I work from home and I use video conferencing internet phone and had to connect to my Works server I must have consistent internet to do my job. I believe that they're having equipment failures throughout my area in Casa Grande Arizona but they are not communicating and being transparent to their users about these outages. I cannot get anybody on the phone when an outage happens, I can't talk to anyone when it happens and to some degree I totally understand that except for the fact that I can't even get somebody on the phone or by texting with the chat bot after the fact in order to get some kind of an idea of when the technical difficulties they've been experiencing consistently over two months is going to be resolved. I am now forced to find another internet company to switch over to since this company is not being transparent with the outages issue and does not provide relevant support when a user tries to contact them instead being switched to phone trees being switched to bots, and that's unacceptable.gdess7 months agoNew Contributor64Views0likes1CommentFor the love of God!!!
Issues with the network began last week. Cox has claimed they have technicians working to resolve them, but why then did the network go completely down almost 2 days ago and has been out since?!? No one that I've spoken to in Customer Service has any information. There's no eta and the outage map is garbage!! I work from home!!! If you can't get your $%@! together then, stop holding my neighborhood hostage with your monopoly so that we can take our business elsewhere!! Forcing consumers to be your customers is one thing, but to do it and then literally not provide the service you've blocked any other company from offering is complete bull#$@!!!! You are costing people their livelihoods with zero regard!! It's despicable! Cox Wi-Fi has been so bad for several months. Wi-Fi connections going in and out all day. Now my smart tv is completely messed up and won’t boot up after cox went in and out so many times today. On 03/12/2024 I reviewed my Cox billing statement for March 2024 and discovered an unauthorized charge on my Cox monthly billing statement. There is a monthly $10 charge for Premium Support Cox Complete Care. I did not agree to this service when I arranged for Cox Internet Service. I was never notified about this charge. This charge is unexpected and I have paid the charge for 4 months. I am requesting a refund for $40 for 4 months of payment. At the bottom of the billing statement it states that for billing dispute and resolution to contact a number listed on the top of that statement page. The number listed above is 623-594-1000. I called and spoke with a customer service agent and she was able to remove this service account the same day. When I inquired about a refund- specifically asked who do I contact about a billing inquiry or dispute, and can I speak to your manager? The customer service representative informed me that Cox does not do refunds. No further information was provided. I am in the process of obtaining legal consult for my request for a refund. So our family has had a longstanding issue with our internet service that comes and goes, but in the past month it's the worst it has ever been. Our internet speed is fine, we have gigablast, we use both wifi and hardline connections. However, we get intermittent service interruptions throughout the day. The connection flickers briefly (2-10 seconds) up to a dozen times each time it happens. It can go days without happening once or it can happen 8+ times throughout day for multiple days in a row. This wouldn't be an issue if all we were doing was watching streaming services, but when work needs done that requires a constant steady connection or when playing video games online, it becomes a nightmare or flat out impossible. Resetting router/modem doesn't fix it, internal cables and devices work fine, technicians have come out at least a couple times a year to confirm bandwidth is correct, which we have explained to them isn't the problem. When the connection is active, it's great, it's just the random drops that are happening. Every time we try to deal with this we have to start from square one doing the same scripted customer interaction for 3-6 hours on a phone just for a technician to come out and tell us there's no problem. As I type this, the connection has flickered at least 8 times in the past 30 minutes. We can't upgrade to fiber either, because it is not yet available at our location and we have no idea when that will change. If that was coming out soon, we would maybe be willing to try that. This forum post is our last ditch attempt to get this fixed after years of frustration, because more services are now being installed in our neighborhood by other providers and even if the speed ends up being slower (which I don't see happening as I believe those services offer fiber), it can't possibly be worse than dealing with this. Outage for over 8 hours
Service went out at 1128am today with an update for fix at 309pm. It wasn't. Got a text at 330pm with fix extended to 709pm. It's now 750pm with no fix or updates. The online chat is not working and I called customer service and she told me it will be fixed at 709pm. She couldn't help me when I informed her the time was 20mins past at that time. I have checked for auto accident in the area and there are none and as always it's Phoenix so no weather to cause this. I work from home and would like to know who is paying me today or staying up all night to complete my work if and when internet service is restored. Hello, It's Monday 3/11/2024. Tech scheduled for between 8 AM and 10 AM. I left house to location 1 mile away. Waited for call from service tech and got no message that he was there but did get a message from the dispatcher that the service tech had left. Dispatcher was not concerned that tech did not leave a message on my cell number. The dispatcher was dispassionate and dismissive. I refused to reschedule because I was not available for further insult from the dispatcher. Complete failure on the efficiency of Cox tech service and dispatch. I have only negative things to say about Cox tech service. They consistently have out of area phone numbers and no respect for a person's home and appearance. The computer I communicated with on the phone was more constructive than the dispatcher I had the displeasure of talking to. Past two months every time it rains hard internet goes out. When I call to report problem it is same BS, "reboot, equipment out of date, etc." A Technician has been to our house previously and confirmed that issue is with Cox's signal and not equipment in house. Issue was fixed last time after 3 days and countless calls. Has anyone else experienced this issue. If so were you able to resolve going through their support. I paid my bill for March on February 27th. On Friday I called Cox to schedule my Internet to be canceled on the 30th. They made a mistake and turned it off immediately. 10 minutes later I called them again and they turned the Internet back on and told me it is scheduled to be canceled on the 30th. I did not receive the order notification that it was scheduled to turn off on the 30th, rather, it says the 8th. I just received a bill for $43.33 due on March 23rd. I've already paid for March ($50), and owe nothing to Cox at this point. What am I supposed to do at this point? This is honestly amazing how bad support is. We currently have our own tp-link router using Cox internet as the backbone for all our wifi connectivity. Since all our AP and devices were already setup with the tp-link router we wanted to have it stay this way. Originally we had DirecTV, when one of our local sports teams was not going to be available on DirecTV we decided to switch to Cox as they would have the local channel. Cox is really pushing using their wifi setup along with their proprietary wireless boxes. Unfortunately we did not go with this solution due to the panoramic wifi router having no compatibility with our AP devices. I'm not even sure our Ring would connect to the Cox router. Has someone been able to use the Cox router along side another router? Arris SBG10 2 Desktop PCs wire connected various phones, ipad, laptop, not often in use. We are on the Cox connectassist program. We pay $30 a month, internet package is either 100 or 150 mbps. When the internet is working, I am able to do speedtests easily at 100+mbps download and 7+mbps upload. I've had an issue for over 1.5 years with cox. 1.5 years ago, I had Xfinity when I lived in Denver. I had my Arris modem and all the same devices connected. Not once in a year living in Denver did we have a single internet issue. The internet never even went down once. Then we moved back home to Oklahoma City. Immediately, we started having issues. Same equipment and devices. I suspected that either the apartment had bad connection issues or I had damaged my modem on the move. The specific issue is an "intermittent connection". The internet only works for about 30 seconds, then goes out for 2-3 minutes. Off and on. You will get completely disconnected from games and video calls. Even when it's connected, my friends in discord would tell me my voice quality sounds incredibly bad. Then, after being left alone for hours or sometimes days, the connection would just suddenly get better. It would be perfect. And it would work PERFECTLY for days, weeks, sometimes 2-3 months without issue. UNTIL... the modem gets reset. Then upon reboot, all the horrible symptoms come back and last for hours/days. I can sit there and reset the modem over and over, 20+ times in a row and nothing fixes. 6 months of that in Oklahoma City and we moved to Tulsa. The EXACT SAME issue was happening at the new apartment in Tulsa. So I bought a new Arris SBG10 modem. Guess what. We have the EXACT issue with the new modem. Lived for 1 year at this apartment in Tulsa. We just moved to a new apartment in Tulsa. Guess what. The EXACT same issues is replicated. I am amazed that there is really no technical assistance whatsoever from cox. I have contacted support over 15 times and had two Technician visits, and their support reps have zero knowledge of devices or software or networking or whatever (I am not the most knowledgable, but Ive done all the troubleshooting I know how). The technicians have been good, but they couldn't diagnose my issue. I am convinced there is something server-side or software-related that is messing up my connection. I have ruled out all physical installation issues, there are no viruses or network issues coming from my devices. So I ordered yet another modem, a Netgear Nighthawk C7000, and I ordered AT&T Internet Air, so I'm going to have two internet plans for a little while and I will troubleshoot both. If Cox doesn't work with my new modem, then I plan to return both my Arris and Netgear Modems to Amazon and continuing to work with AT&T. I am so beyond tired of hearing a service representative tell me that I have to pay extra monthly in order to get proper support. If I set the Orbi IPv6 settings to "DHCP", I get an IPv6 address on the router but none of my devices inside get an IPv6 address. If I set it to "Passthrough" (I saw in the forums to do that) but I'm not getting an IPv6 address on my computer and phone either. My computer is a MacBook Pro, my phone is an Android. If I go to https://test-ipv6.com/ on my phone on the cell network, I get an IPv6; but if I go to it while connected to the Orbi, I get no IPv6. Hello, I started a new service with Cox yesterday but have been unable to activate my modem. For reference I'm using an Arris Surfboard SB6183 modem. My primary question is if I've used the modem with another ISP in the past, would the previous profile possibly be causing the issue and would factory resetting it help? Full description: I used the chat feature to talk to a Cox agent who input all my modem info etc, but we were unable to get my modem activated - my browser still gets directed to the Cox walled garden "Device Not Activated" page and clicking the "Activate Modem" button takes me to a 403 error page saying "The server understood the request but refuses to authorize it." Tried restarting it on my end with no change; when the agent tried restarting it from Cox's side it didn't appear to reboot, the lights stayed lit constantly etc. I have tried both directly connecting the modem to my PC and connecting through my router with the same result. I poked around my modem's web GUI and it can get the time of day and shows 16 downstream bonded channels and 4 upstream, so it doesn't seem to be having an issue getting a signal from the current coax outlet. However, I do see a couple concerning items in the event log: Critical (3) Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 time out (followed by my MAC address and the CMTS-MAC address); CM-QOS=1.1 ;CM-VER=3.0; Notice (6) TLV-11 - unrecognized OID (followed by MAC addresses/QOS/VER) These come up anytime I reboot the modem. Sometimes I also get: Warning (5) Unicast DSID PSN startup error. I was hoping these events might give some insight into what needs to be done to get my modem activated? I have successfully used this modem before with a different ISP so I'm assuming it's not an equipment issue, but I read that the TLV-11 notice can be caused by the modem having different/multiple profiles from ISPs, so I wanted to check if factory resetting my modem and then calling/chatting with Cox to reprovision/reactivate it might work? Last idea, I saw on Cox's website where it shows my modem info that the MAC address is displaying spaces between pairs of characters oddly, e.g. "XX: X:X :XX: X:X " instead of "XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX" - I assume this is just a display issue but I gave the address to the agent with spaces in it so just wanted to double check if it might've been entered wrong? Last week I bought myself a new Motorola MB8611 DOCSIS 3.1 modem, and plugged everything in to go through the activation process. This is the third time I've replaced my modem so I'm familiar with it and have never had issues. This time though, trying to go to /activate and follow the steps - if the pages bother to load - is painfully slow. Finally, if I manage to get to the user login part of the process, it throws a 503 "Service is down or overloaded" error. I've done this multiple times in the last week and get the same response. At what point is Cox going to start providing some kind of credit for all of these outages? Customers are required to pay their full bill regardless if we actually receive the service, and regardless of the quality or consistency of the service this company is providing. Pretty tired of the constant outages for lengthy periods of time. Every now and then I get, but it’s happening more and more frequently. Not impressed with whatever recent “updates” were done that required service to be down for the majority of a day. Ever since then we’ve had way more outages and service issues. So I have been having lot's of issues streaming on twitch. I was ultimate internet user for about 3 years. I have been having issues streaming on twitch. I have had numerous techs come out and my signal levels are fine. I upgraded to gigablast thinking something might change and I'm still have the issues even after upgrading services and having more then 4 techs come to my house. It clearly looks like cox is throttling upload to twitch. I'm able to stream for about 3 to 7 min without issues then my bitrate up just drops. I reboot my modem and the issue goes away for a few mins. Download speeds are good no other connectivity issues. Modem has been swapped 3 times and I'm hard wired and have tried several different devices. It also looks like there's been several post regarding cox throttling and twitch on reddit and other sites. So what's the deal ? Why is it a issue for people with Cox internet to use twitch for gaming upload. I have to lower my bit rate to 2300 my friend has a different ISP and he has slower speeds then me and is able to do 5000 upload. Someone at Cox needs to look into this and fix this. It's not a issue on my end it's clearly something cox has going on. I even had a tech say it's possible we are throttling twitch I can't say if we are. He even saw the sudden upload spike drop and didn't have a answer and said that it wasn't a official cox test so he couldn't do anything about it but noticed the issue and said he wished he could fix it. Curious how I can resolve issues my community is having on internet issues. We have houses that have panels with internet and fiber services prewired prior to move in. Whoever installed these prior to us living there didnt apply an update, resulting in me having to make a service call. I went to cox office to downgraded internet and told them I don’t need home phone service that I have been charged monthly. It was $99. After talking the technician there and gave them my own router serial number, I went home and noticed no internet connection. I spent couple hours with the resetting and chatted with live agent and there’re is nothing they can do remotely. Then they said they will send technician in-home visit and I may be charged $75. I’m so disappointed with cox since I have been with them over 9 years. Not only did a moderator close off my discussion thread to replies from other users with potentially useful input, but I got the typical 'email support' reply. I did email support and here's a direct quote: "We were able to verify that we do have an outage remaining in the area. With the event being unplanned. We would be unable to properly provide you with a restoral time. We do look to have any outages corrected and restored as soon as possible." ...who exactly is this helping? Told me everything I already knew after telling me the outage was cleared in the area. Good grief Cox... Outage repair time was pushed back multiple times since around midday yesterday. Woke up today and still no internet, but also no more outage repair time. Luckily, people don't rely on internet to work from home, communicate with their loved ones, or anything else. Been seeing a lot of posts about sudden data usage spikes. I dealt with that last year too and they tried to blame me. Beginning in the December 2023 to January of 2024 timeframe, our internet usage started jumping dramatically. We've been streaming video for over a year and have not changed our internet usage habits with the exception of VPN. As of Mid February of 2024, the VPN has been turned off but the usage has not dropped by very much. We have about 50 to 60 wifi devices but that hasn't changed for over a year. Nobody is going to convince me that it's anything that I, or anyone in my household has changed regarding internet usage. This is totally something that COX has changed. We will have the opportunity to change internet providers within the next few months. Can't wait to get rid of COX. From Nov. 11, 2023 to Dec. 10, 2023, we used 340 gig. That was typical or maybe even a little higher than was customary. From Dec. 11 thru Jan. 10, it jumped to 883 gig. Internet started going out multiples time a day again
I posted here 6 months ago about myArris S33 modem that seems to lose power multiple times a day (the LED indicator just goes Amber at random). A tech had to come out after that and the problem seemed to be fixed when he took out a splitter that was not necessary. Until last week this started happening again. I have posted the upstream/downstream channels. Can I please get some insight on what I need to do to fix this? So I contacted Cox about a question with my bill for this month and while I wait for this agent to get my account up, they started convincing me about upgrading my plan, to which I said no to 3 times in a row, and the agent still decided to go upgrade my plan. I upgraded my internet and now my Canon Selphy 1300 will not connect to the wifi. I’ve narrowed the problem down to the WiFi mode. For months now I have noticed that my Facebook is not loading as quickly or at all after 8 PM. We usually only have one TV on that has streaming services and only my husband and I are on Facebook around that time. If your debit card declines for a payment you are charged a $50 fee. With as many scams and fraud on the rise many keep their cards frozen to avoid unwanted charges. It is not that the funds are not there but there is many reasons a card would show declined. It would be understandable for a returned ACH payment but I have never had this with a card. It feels like a unfair practice. I have never heard another company do this as I am sure they see it in a negative way. I have the 1gb service in Escondido California it’s very inconsistent constantly dropping in upload speed and download reset does nothing I tried a router on different WiFi 2.4 and 5ghz I’m less then 20 feet from signal with full strength. I can never get anywhere near the 50mpbs upload I have a real time monitor of the upload speed and it jumps all around with 5-20mbps differences. Very inconsistent and constantly drops out and disconnects me. I’ve tried resetting unplugging and nothing same thing no difference. I have the pw8. This is new service and it’s been like this since day one.
