Internet keeps dropping
I don’t have cable. I just pay for internet. I’ve never had an issue like this. For the past two weeks while streaming shows or browsing the internet the WiFi will just cut out. A gateway reset will fix the issue for a few hours until it happens again. I’ve Restarted it from the cox app or just unplugged the power and it doesn’t make a difference. The same issue persists. I replaced the coax cable going to the router and it didn’t change anything. I live near JANAF. I’m just frustrated. I live in an apartment complex in Baton Rouge, for the past three weeks I’ve been dealing with signal noise. Is there anyway to fix this issue because I can barely do anything on Wi-Fi for less than 10 minutes. Hi … I recently asked a rep over the call to cancel my mobile service. She told that there is a price increase of $5 for my internet. Adding to that she said that mobile services are disconnected. But the honest thing is that she enrolled me into new internet plan into contract of 24 months, which that stupid representative hasn’t notified me of the contract. Initially my cox internet service wasn’t in contract either. I would have switched to Quantum fiber instead. I think this is the way that cox does business to keep things hiding to the customer and lock them for 24 months. Something strange happened on January 16th, 2024, and no one at Cox customer care has an explanation. I run a small online business and make affiliate commissions from about two dozen different advertisers. Every morning, I run traffic reports to see how much traffic we sent to advertisers, and to run these reports, I login to each of the advertisers' different admin websites. A few days ago, I was poking around one of my advertiser's admin sites and clicked on an option to view my login history to the site. The page comes up and shows me every one of my logins, including the date, the time, and the IP address. I scrolled back a couple pages after seeing my same IP dozens of times for the last several weeks, but then, on just one of my logins on just one day, Jan 16., the IP that was listed is NOT my IP (my Cox IP was showing up on every single other login every single day before and after Jan 16.). I know this was my login because the time stamp was in fact when I logged in, but again, the IP wasn't mine. This is the IP that showed up as being me: 242.13.205.41 So I did a lookup on that IP, and it says it's a "private" or "reserved" IP that isn't part of Cox. What's also strange is that at the time I logged into this advertiser's page, I was also logging into about 20 other advertiser's admins pages in various tabs, since I login to all of them within a couple seconds of each other when I'm doing my daily traffic reports. When checking my login history on ALL the other advertiser sites, they all show my login at that Jan. 16 date/time as my regular IP that I recognize, not the weird private one. So, this was something that happened with the one connection on the one site, and I don't know why I would've been rerouted and/or recognized as having a private IP, just by them? My worst fear is that this was some sort of hack that I encountered upon landing on this one advertiser's site, but if anyone has a less creepy theory, I'd be very appreciative. Our Thunderbird is set up with 2 email accounts - Gmail & Cox cable. Actually 3 as my wife also uses TB for her Cox emails. Cox is moving over to Yahoo. Not a fan of Yahoo. Eventually I will either set up another Gmail account (cox was for subscriptions or when a business needs an email address) and my has a Gmail already, but she does not use TB for that as for her Cox is her main email. So can I delete our Cox emails thru Cox web email site without losing our emails currently in TB? And will that mess things up as TB sends and receives email from cox cable? I am so sick of cox and their BS. They change your plan whenever they feel like it In order to make your bill higher. It took forever for me to get the ACP benefits to finally kick in when it started. Now it's being taking away bc the government claims to be out of funds. And cox is loving that bc now their purposely uping the prices on everything. And on top of it there getting rid of the email service. That's the only reason why I have stayed with cox. I have had the same email for years. It's the only one I use. I had a yahoo account years ago and they suck, they have ads. If I wanted to use yahoo I would have chosen them along time ago. But now we're being forced to go to them. I have hundreds of emails saved in certain folders through cox. There getting rid of email but yet going up on prices. And what's really pissing me off is I can't watch 15 mins of TV without my **bleep** Internet going out. It goes out and comes back on, then out and back on. They need to get their s**t together for once. This is the worse company I've ever had to deal with. For the past couple months while watching anything through the Contour box my internet would loose connection. I get the Oops something went wrong screen. Then after a couple minutes it pops back up on the main contour app page then I have to find the app and go back in from scratch. Here lately I can not watch a movie on Netflix without my box losing connection and restarting 10-15 times. It is very frustrating. Even when watching Xumo Play shows through the guide it still does the same. About every 7-10 minutes it kicks me. During the middle of the night it will play for hours without booting me. I live in Virginia Beach in Aragona Village. About 2 weeks ago our internet would randomly drop either upload or download speeds. I am playing for 1000/35. The down would sometimes go as low as 50, the upload as low as 2. We had a tech come out to check our lines and he said he found that there had been work started for a problem on our node on 2/10 that was showing in progress with dozens of notes but no completion date known. I have checked with the text chat to see if any progress has been made and they told me no. I want to know what the problem is and when we can expect it to be complete. My fiancé does schooling from home, and barely has access to the internet all day. I come home and have no internet access for what I need to do either. Our internet has been out for a week and a half, since Saturday February 10th. This is a real problem, since we work from home. Every night at 9:01pm we receive the same text message, reading "We're working overnight to restore your service", but no longer believe them. Spending half an hour using the Chat function yielded no information, other than that there is, indeed, an outage. Phone calls meet with a message that since there is an outage, the customer service people will be unable to help. But being patient seems to be doing no good at all. We have been fairly happy with Cox for over a decade, but this extended outage + lack of information is getting truly exasperating. Can you help? Update - on Monday the 19th I received the 3rd email from Cox indicating the transfer will be in the “next few weeks”. I have been chatting on line with multiple Cox channels to get some details for 3 months with marginal success (including conflicting information and they don’t know). Very frustrating. I have come to the conclusion they the Cox representatives are nice people but do not know all the details. It is also clear that no one from Cox support staff or customer has gone through the process. No one. My guess is I (and those of you who have received this 3rd email) are in the first group. Hi, my internet download and upload speed are great and my ping while gaming stay between 30 and 50ms. However, I have the unstable packet loss notification the entire time that I am gaming. Oddly enough, this normally doesn't impact the game a ton but can be annoying. It does however kill my twitch stream entirely. I'm hard wired into my router with an ethernet cord and have changed it out multiple times. Technicolor CGM4141 - So Loud
Cox advertised that they’d replace my older Arris Docsys 3.0 Panoramic modem with a newer 3.1 Panoramic modem at no charge and no monthly fee. I took advantage of this, and received the Technicolor CGM4141 modem (looks previously used). It’s so loud - the fan vibrates and is just terrible. I’d have to wrap this in styrofoam and keep it locked in the garage to use this thing at my house. So I returned the modem, and went back to my nice silent Arris TG1682 Panoramic modem. They offered to replace with a newer Technicolor modem, but why go through the trouble if they are all this loud? Does anyone else have this problem with the CGM4141? Our issue has been with Fox News and Fox Business channels via Contour/Internet dropping audio for 5 seconds or so on a consistent basis. All other channels are fine and do not drop audio. Tech said give it a couple of hours and check it again. I am a Cox Gigablast user in Phoenix, AZ. Since Wednesday, May 20, 2020, I am no longer able to send email from Mozilla Thunderbird using a third party email (xxxxxxxxxxx@media.mit.edu). Boy I sure do love spending $100 a month of my hard earned cash to have a service that fails all the time. Yet again, here I am trying to get some work done and I can’t because there’s a network issue preventing me from connecting any of my devices to the internet. Can I run a hotspot off of my phone? Sure. But that’s not the point. The point is I’m paying for a service that shouldn’t just blip out of existence whenever it wants. I’ve never had these issues with any other ISP yet I’m forced into using this god forsaken service because Cox has a monopoly on the internet available in my city. I hate it here. I hate cox. Prior to the start of 2024 I have always been able to access https://www.wotstars.com/ to track gaming statistics for World of Tanks Console video game. After the Christmas break I can no longer access it from my home network using Cox Internet, but I can if I use my phone and Verizon. Why is it only 1280 GB? That's not much for a modern family of four. This cap is like a blast from the past of 15 years ago. I'm on a fiber to the prem connection so network bottlenecks should not be an issue. Competitors offer unlimited data on fiber but sadly I can't switch. So my router is unplugged and I'm on a hotspot. Forgot my thermostat needs the internet to get outside temperature and switch to gas heating...so it's been short cycling the heat pump all night..... Pay $10 for every 50 GB overage? Pay twice the price for unlimited? No thanks. Oh! That looks like a money grab. I thought I saw a money grab, I did, I did. Probably will cancel and go back to fixed cellular. Less speed, higher price but no caps. Oh wait, even my local yocal fixed cell can offer service without caps? Data Usage Meter is showing double!!
Anyone else seeing this today? Yesterday I noticed I've gone over the data limit for the current month so called customer service and added 500gb(kids home for summer). Today I see that the data usage meter is showing double of what it was/should be. My daily data usage is showing the correct amounts as well the notifications I receive through txt and email. Just spent 2 hours on phone with customer support and all they keep telling me is the data usage meter is always correct and I some how used 1.4 terabytes over night. anyone else? any recommendations on how to get this resolved?
