Internet Issue Years Later Still Happening
I have had cox's highest internet plan for as long as I can remember. I have had countless techs in my home including multiple maintenance escalation tickets called out for my issues. Still nothing changes. Every time I call to discuss the same issue, I get the same answers and have to fight to get escalated to a higher tier support so that someone understands what I am experiencing. I now chart all of my packet loss and am building a portfolio to seek legal action. I had the gigablast package which ran me $120.00 per month and can only use the internet efficiently approximately 35% of the time. As I am writing this post I have been incurring packet loss and disconnections for the past 3 hours. If a high tier cox tech would like to look into my account and see how many techs and issues I have had at my address, please do. I am going to keep posting all of my data graphs and information on the forums as calling and trying to get this settled is not working. All I can say is this has been an issue for years in my location and if I had the opportunity to switch providers, I would have left cox a long time ago. Please help! Feels like the traffic in my area is too much for our node and needs to be upgraded.95Views0likes6CommentsGigablast speed keeps dropping to 25-30MB`
Hello - about 6-8 months ago I signed up for Gigablast. It worked great. My speed wasn't ever close to a gigabyte, typically between 200-400mb. In the past week it keeps dropping to 20-40mb. If I reboot my modem it goes back to 200-400mb, for a very short while, then drops back down to 20-40mb. I don’t know what to do. I have an Arris SB8200 and a TP-Link Deco AXE-5300. Both are less than six months old. HELP PLEASE???32Views0likes1CommentCox has disappointed me yet again.
This is a repeat from previous discussions. First, one of my email accounts was unavailable after numerous attempts as COX FORCED me to move to YAHOO - there was NO option and NO option to delete my email account. I followed COX's instructions to "Reactivate" and as usual they are invalid as there was NO such option. When I moved to YAHOO (no option), It would not even let me relabel it to something more meaningful. When I went the web version to see my mailbox - I get the "run around". I am done working with inept people that only want more money and provide less services. In addition to removing my email account, it deleted all notes attached to that account. Forcing me to re-invent. My suggestion to all COX users is just find another host for all your services. As a cox client for over 36 years - I AM DONE!!! I did not choose to accept the forced transfer to Yahoo mail. Instead, after receiving the surprise email from Yahoo one morning & being locked out of the webmail interface, I utilized Outlook to download my emails from the POP server and did my best to delete the account. I say did my best because once you're locked out of webmail, the hotlink to "Delete email" under your email address on the Manage Users windows isn't there. But support assures me it's deleted. So my question is, why do I not receive a bounce-back notification (aka failed delivery message) when emailing that address from another account? It's not a connection problem: the rest of the site seems to work. It's not that I don't know were to find the page, because I can display older bills. I have been procrastinating with the whole transition but finally remembered to do it today. One problem, I followed the instructions from Cox but Yahoo doesn't recognize my email. I’ve had techs come out and tell me I have good signal but I do not. All my videos buffer and if you want to game you can go ahead and forget that because it will not load. I paid $90 for 500 mpbs so I should have no issue with my wifi. I’ve gotten a new modem and that did not help either. This has became extremely inconvenient for me and I would not recommend this wifi to anyone. Now I have to wait almost a week to get my new equipment delivered to get new wifi. Should Cox be responsible to it's customers, to see that YAHOO is doing a decent job of taking over the Cox Accounts and ensuring that their system is working? This is my second day of having no internet access. I'm stunned that Cox finds it acceptable to refuse to even speak with customers calling about it. Their message said they don't have any idea as to when service will be restored. My concern is that if Cox doesn't have a clue as to the nature of the problem or any timeline for its fix, who does? This truly doesn't seem like a good way to run a circus! Can anyone give me a clue as to how to interface with Cox and get at least answers, if not problem resolution?84Views0likes3CommentsBlinking orange/white

I’m thinking about canceling my internet service. I talked to customer support to see what i would have to return if i canceled. So.... Everything was working fine on a Arris CM8200A DOCSYS 3.1. All good. Then I had connectivity issues, which started with Cox telling me it was an issue on my end and I should upgrade service (more money). The issue ended up turning into outages over the next two days. Still could not connect. One service no show and then the second service call. The second service call was quite good. Checked and replaces something at the curb, replaced some cables, a bunch of ends, a couple splitters, checked signal all over the place and said it was spot on. When all was said and done, my modem was dead. So I ran to the store and got a SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1. Hooked it up, got it registered. It's working, I have internet, but no DOCSIS 3.1. I did find this article: Not receiving DOCSIS 3.1 | Cox Community, although not much help Been on that stupid Cox App, that keeps dropping chats, for hours a day over a few days. It should not be this hard or take this long. I was told twice (once by CAG) to call the manufacturer because Arris needs to address/configure something and the problem is with the modem. I have called a number of times. Arris states that there is nothing to configure in the modem and it is dependent on the signal from the ISP. If it is getting a signal, then it is working. This makes sense to me. I did reset the modem twice with that little switch. Cox has reset it at their end. Cox tells me they have re-provisioned the modem like it was a new one again. No improvement. I know we have had historic problems with service. On neighbor says he is running an old DOCSIS 2.0 (so he says) and his wife complains that it drops her VPN quite often, and I have another neighbor that is similar to ours, it drops about once or twice a week, usually on the same day. Sometimes cable tv gets pixelated but when reported, apparently that is the signal Cox received. From all this I feel like I know where the problem lies, but Cox keeps pointing me in other directions. Any ideas on how to get my DOCSIS 3.1 working correctly? Please let me know.40Views0likes2CommentsWhat's happening to my incoming email?
Since January, Cox has been warning me of the switchover to Yahoo. I finally received notice that my account was ready to switch on Apr. 7. I tried to follow the instructions but when I seemed to have done everything they required, I got a message to the effect that the system was unavailable and I should try again later. But I had a plane to catch, so I couldn't try again later. Furthermore, I am out of the country for most of this month. Nonetheless, I notice that I am not receiving messages sent to my Cox account, even though I never successfully completed the switchover process. I understood that nothing would change to our Cox accounts until we had succeeded in switching over. But obviously, something has changed. I have tried to use Outlook and the POP and SMTP are pop.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com, respectively. I have used the appropriate SSL/TLS settings, user name, and password. I know that I have the correct password as I have logged into the URL several times. I have literally done this 100's of times over my 30+ years in IT. Each time I try to complete the setup and login I get an error about the settings. I called Yahoo and was waiting on the phone for 30 minutes and 15 seconds with NO reply. I called Cox and was told that if I don't buy customer care that I need to call Yahoo. I currently spend in excess of $3,200 per year and since this last "upgrade", have not had any consistent service from Cox. I've had my coax replaced, my splitter, the coax connections, and have had the interior and exterior tested for connectivity. Still having pixelation on the TV and Internet outages. I have my 3rd appointment setup for tomorrow. Why am I paying over $3,000 per year for essentially NOTHING for the past week and 1/2? Is it possible to choose or delay the individual Cox/Yahoo transition conversion date? Due to out of country travel plans over next month, it is impossible to deal with all the steps necessary for a successful transition. The easiest would seem to allow a Cox customer to postpone for a month etc. Or consider asking customer to accept or defer in an email when it gets close. Cox Communications has never understood MLB blackout policy. For years I had customer service people tell me they weren’t carrying the Fox Sports MW (Now Bally Sports) Cardinal broadcast because of blackout policy. I could never make contact with anyone knowledgable to explain that they had it backwards. Then the last two years the problem corrected itself and everything was fine. This year—HERE WE GO AGAIN. Friday night MLB network carried the St.Louis-Arizona game but it was blacked out here to protect local broadcast rights. That would be to protect Bally’s broadcast. But Cox didn’t carry the Bally game—probably because it was on MLB network. They have it backward. Sunday they did the same thing. They carried Saturday’s game because it wasn’t on MLB network. Bally Sports is NEVER blacked out in this area. The MLB blackout policy is to protect local rights holders like Bally. I understand all Oklahoma programming is done in Atlanta. I wish someone would explain it to them. It’s really rather simple…unless you are simple minded.32Views0likes1CommentI want to change my DNS on my Panorama gateway.
I don't see the location to where I can change the DNS on my Cox router. Your service has too many hops to the outside for me to do what I need to and lots of dead routing when I tracert to the location I need to connect to. I searched the forum and I only see the answer "we don't support changing DNS" Now I'm a good Computer Networking Tech so lets both be honest here. We know that's absolutely NOT TRUE. Firstly you had to set a DNS in the first place for there to be a DNS forced on us. I don't want to use your DNS server beucase of the spying issue I'm aware ISP can do, plus latency and throttling. I'm a game streamer and the dead hops and bad routing is a major issue for me. I don't want to use a VPN, but if I need to I will. However it would be much easier if I could just plug in 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 so I get a better connect to global DNS and so you can't spy on me. not that that last part is my goal I just want a faster service and less latency to what I need to do. So, now that we;re both being honest here and know that DNS is a required setting on every device and not hard coded, I ask how do I change my DNS to somethingI want to use and am comfortable with using that is not a cox DNS address?3.9KViews1like2CommentsWill Yahoo let me store messages outside of Yahoo?
I use Thunderbird, and I'm very happy with it. One thing I do routinely is use filters and similar devices to store messages outside my Cox account's message space. For example, all messages sent via my Cox account, as well as other email accountsm are stored in another email-provider's storage space; all incoming Cox emails containing the word "unsubscribe" are stored in another folder ("subscriptions") on another provider's storage space, so I can view them when I can and they don't fill up my inbox. Will I be able to do this with Yahoo email? (Please note. I deliberately avoid email apps on mobile devices, except MacBooks, because I have not found a mobile app that affords this level of functionality. So, I'm really only talking about Thunderbird on MacOS.)25Views0likes1CommentYahoo Email Transition Issue #1
Like many others, I Iam not having success with transitioning all my .cox email addresses. One account (not this one) has asked my to put in a new password about 8 times now. What I get when I am able to login at mail.yahoo.com is a blank page With all items in left column displaying redact bars and the main page saying something to the affect of "Transfer all your accounts..." instead of displaying my email. I have called yahoo three times in the last 24 hours, only to be disconnected before a representative picks up or while I am trying (very nicely) to explain my issue to the representative. The shortest off those three calls was 13 minutes, the longest was 28 minutes. Very frustrating to invest that much time and energy just trying to get my issue presented much less resolved. Then after the internet has been installed in my home, I made cox account and found out my internet package didn't include complete care. I contacted Cox customer services many times, went to cox store in person and they kept denying , my package didn't include the complete care and I need to pay for it if I want to add onto my account. I showed them my order confirmation email and they kept denying it's not in their system. I tried to call to the number from coxcablespecial.com 855-775-4442 and they hanged up on me few times, and the agent even asked me to give my credit card information (even cox didn't have any of my credit card info yet to cross verification) asked me all personal info including DOB and then suddenly asked me to give my credit/debit card info, which is so weird. After trying to contact every customer services as much as I could, they still deny to add the complete care into my package. Even when I made the order, professional installation is free and now after they installed, there is 60$ relocation of router fees showing up in my bill. I said this is my first time installation, how can there be " Relocation of router " since it's first time set up. And they kept saying, I need to pay anyhow, no matter it makes sense or not. This is very frustation and I feel like I am being cheated so badly and can't do anything about it. We have Cox with unlimited data in the N Phoenix Area. Up until about three weeks ago we were very happy with the service. We had the occasional outage, nothing consistent like the outages we have been experiencing the last three weeks. We have had multiple daily network outages for varying time periods for three consecutive weeks. It can be down anywhere from 20 minutes to 12 hours. The messages we see in the Cox app and from the text alerts have become more and more vague, now with no ETA's on when service will be up. I understand that Cox is not liable for my lost wages, however I'm sure you can see my point of view in being unhappy with a paid service we are only getting access to half of the time. When we tried to set it up I called and informed the employee that the internet isn’t working. The tech came out and fixed it since something has to be adjusted on the outside connections. On my bill I saw a $100 charge for an installation fee. This is such a scam. Nowhere did I sign or agree to anything. The employee at the phone or the tech did not disclose anything either! I have been able to successfully connect to a mobile hotspot for awhile now, but, over the past few days, I have not been able to connect to it. The network, "Cox WiFi," still appears on the list of available networks. It also has three bars, indicating that there is a strong signal. Whenever I click on it to connect, it does not connect. The "waiting wheel" continues to spin. I have tried "forgetting the network," connecting multiple devices to the network, and restarting all devices before trying to connect to the network again, but I have not been successful. I would greatly appreciate any troubleshooting tips, or for the hotspot to be fixed. Thank you!36Views0likes2CommentsBlinking Yellow & Green Light
When we first got this wifi modem and tried to hook it up ourselves it didn’t work. So then we had to pay $75 for a technician to come out when we obviously tried to do it on our own! These crappy modems you guys provide aren’t built to set up on your own! I have now had this wifi for two weeks, not even an entire month and it keeps going out! One minute it’s flashing a yellow light and then 5-10 minutes later it’s flashing a green light! Customer service is horrible because all they do is troubleshoot and if that doesn’t work, a technician has to come out and now we have to pay another $75. So this is strike #2, if another issue arises we will definitely be getting a different WiFi provider because this is absolutely the worse experience we have ever had with WiFi!234Views0likes3CommentsYahoo! email charges
So I discover that Cox is forcing its email users to go to Yahoo!, but it's a bad deal. My main gripe is that Yahoo! wants to charge $5/mo for a basic service like email forwarding. This really sucks. Also, getting MS Outlook to work with Yahoo! has been a confusing process. I got it to work, but....geeeesh! I am tiring of Cox. Its ISP has become unreliable as of late. Who needs cable anymore? The only real difficulty is telling everyone who contacts me by email of a new email address. That's like hundreds of contacts.293Views1like6Comments
