Intermittent connectivity
I have had cox 4 painful years. I have had 4-5 technicians come out since February of 2024. Hoping for a resolution for intermittent connectivity. This has been a long going issue that technicians can’t seem to resolve. The call center can “see” the issue but the technicians they send are clueless and don’t spend the time to resolve. Speeds are great but in conjunction with the WiFi app I can see that speeds dip below 720 and that kicks us off of most devices even home computer. Forget watching live tv or enjoying a movie hard wire connected OR WiFi. This struggle is worse than a dial up connection and wish and hope someone is capable of solving this issue.jerwrigh74603 months agoNew Contributor55Views0likes1CommentI’m dissatisfied

We live in El Dorado KS and we have been without internet for a week now. I have called in multiple times to try and get an update on when they might get it up and going and I always get the same response “We are working on it but can’t give you a time of when it will be fix”. I personally don’t feel like they are working on it as I have not seen a Cox Repair Truck anywhere in the area. Hello! I am single man living in a 700 square foot 1 bedroom apartment and for some reason my internet bill is almost on par with most homes. I use only internet which was $49.99 a month for the past 2 years and I didn’t really think much of it. As of yesterday my bill now sits at $109.00 just for 4 of my devices to be connected. This is disgusting and greedy on cox part. People are already working their tails off to get by and to DOUBLE your price when nothing has changed for me other than more lag while I game, connection interruptions during meetings, the list could go on. Then on top of that you sent a text a day before my bill is due. No 2 weeks heads up, nothing in the mail, no emails. Charging over $100 for wifi is absurd and doing that knowing people have to use WI-FI to do remote work or any other daily activities is wrong. I see everywhere across the country, people unhappy with Cox and its sad to see that the consumers needs comes last in the eyes of big business. To then offer me “ other options” ( all of which stayed in the hundreds of dollars) is basically a spit in my face and i dont mind telling you people where to shove those offers. Just an overall greedy and price gouging company. I know its not the ground employees fault or anything like that. They’re not the problem. Here is the story. I ordered Cox Internet service in September 2023. When I placed the order, the month total charge shown to me was $54.99, after 3 discounts (1 - Fiber 500 mbps discount for 24 months $35, 2 - Panoramic wifi gateway discount for 24 months $14, Unlimited Data Plan discount $49.99). However, the first charge came out to be $139.99, including $50 deposit, i.e. Cox charged me $89.99 for the first month. Then Cox charged me $89.99 per month till Dec 2023. From January 2024 to April 2024, Cox charged me $90 per month. Essentially, Cox overcharged me by $35 every month. I figured that Cox did not apply the first discount as expected. During this period, I tried to contact Cox to have the issue resolved. I tried online chat, and called Cox customer service, visited local Cox office, sent email with supporting documents. I essentially tried everything I could think of but no one at Cox could address this billing issue. I encountered a somewhat rude customer account manager during my last call before having to terminate my Cox service. But the issue still remains.sungxu3 months agoNew Contributor101Views2likes1CommentFrustrated with Contour Mobile - Audio issues

Since May 1, 2024 we have been in touch with Cox Complete Care (additional $10/month) and have logged 3 tickets and nothing has been done to address the following Audio problem on mobile (app and web) devoces. Most of the time that the audio drops for 5 seconds and the way it drops is very consistent. It occurs on various channel, CNN, Fox News, Fox Business, NewsMax. It occurs on IOS devices Iphones/iPads using the Contour App. It occurs on Macbook via the Web using watchtv.cox.com. Almost always will occur and begin with a drop of 5 seconds at end of one of the commercials and then almost exactly 25 seconds into the next shows segment after the commercials. COX did some maintenance in our area about three weeks ago. I've had to reboot my modem at least once (up to three times) per-day ever since, with the exception of one day. I chatted with someone on COX to try to find out why (after I had rebooted the modem that day (June 29th). That person checked the connectivity and told me that it was fine (as I already knew). I insisted that I wanted to know what happened, and what could be done to fix it. He suggested that I try rebooting my modem. I explained that I did it before calling, and it was working; but that I wanted to know what could be done to remedy the situation. This went on for about 20 minutes. (I'm an EE, with many years of software development experience.) I asked for tier-2 support about 10 minutes into the call. Now- more than two weeks later- nobody has responded. Tech support is a useless waste of time We had the affordable connectivity program. With that we'd been paying $30 per-month, off a $60 per-month plan. When the ACP ended, COX raised our bill to $70. That is- the $30 credit went away, and they raised our bill by $10. 2. COX is greedy COX eliminated eMail from their customer accounts, switching to the data-mining Yahoo. There were no useful instructions for moving servers in an eMail application like T-Bird. I have fooled around with the settings for over an hour, and assiduously followed the skeletal instructions to configure such software. It doesn't work, and I don't want to use webmail. Since there's no technical support (only a time-wasting humanoid interface)- my COX email is dead. (We have our own hosting company with just about every bit of our eMail, but they and the domain registrars require a backup eMail address. I might as well have a rowboat with a PO box adrift at sea. 3. COX cuts costs at customer expense- every dollar cut goes right onto their bottom line while consumers pay more in dollars and time.bk_inAZ3 months agoNew Contributor II39Views1like1CommentPW8

I've been with Cox for many years. Previously I was on the 100 download plan for $50. which used one of the Technicolor gateways. I loved using the Panoramic Wifi app. Now that I'm retired my income is low enough that I qualify for the ConnectAssist Plan, still at 100 download, but for $30, so a little less expensive. I was required swap out the Technicolor gateway for an Arris TG1682G gateway, which also supports Panoramic Wifi. But, after setting things up, I was very surprised to find that I can't use the Panoramic Wifi app with the ConnectAssist Plan, as I was tersely told by the lady from Cox who called after a Ticket was submitted. Hmm I have to wonder why use of the Panoramic Wifi app was revoked from people with the ConnectAssist Plan. The Arris gateway is able to work with it. Is the use of the app somehow expensive for Cox? Or maybe us poor folk don't have the skills to use the app. Maybe Cox didn't want to put in the effort so discounters can use the app because we just don't deserve it? I would just like to know. Whatever the reason may be, it sticks in my craw and it really isn't a good look for Cox. Alright, I'm done talking. My question is, does anyone know if the Cox lady who called me is correct -- the Panoramic Wifi App doesn't work on the ConnectAssist plan? And if that's true, why is it that way. My issue now is that I don’t believe I should pay the full month’s bill when I haven’t received full service. I spoke with an agent who ensured me that I’d be credited and yet I see nothing? There are so many examples of bad signals posted here that I thought it would be helpful to show what good signals look like. This is my modem after 20 days of uptime. Almost 3 weeks. My downstream is basically perfect, always hitting 900+ Mbps at any time when node congestion wouldn't be an issue (signals and node congestion are unrelated). My upstream consistently hits 35 Mbps. The only thing in the logs is a DRW violation about once every 3 days which would cause a momentary upstream glitch at worst. It took 3 techs to get my connection stabilized (one to remove old equipment and filters, one to replace cable from the pole to the house, and one to fix an amplifier on the pole). But now that they've fixed everything, I couldn't be happier with the quality of my connection. Notice how I have basically zero uncorrectables even after 3 weeks. But who out there has not experienced the hassle of some A**hole stealing your credit card number, which then has to be replaced, which then causes you to have to remember to change your credit card number for everyone you have been faithfully paying for years!! Yeah - I know - I could have a backup on file. But how about just letting me know there's a problem before I have to take extra measures to pay my bill or pay a ridiculous late fee! The GOOD: I LOVE my Cox Internet service ever since I showed your technician what needed to be done to improve my service (replace a faulty, unneeded signal booster). This Tech was GREAT😊! He replaced my service connection box and main service line to where I did not even need a signal booster to have normal service - for that I'm grateful! But please, I guarantee you, will keep more customers in the long run if you stop the LATE FEE nonsense! That said, if you got someone with a worse than crappy credit score who routinely misses their payments, go ahead and make them pay a huge deposit or cut their service off. But, PLEASE, don't go after your regular, long-term, loyal customers to use these BS LATE FEES as an extra profit center! Thanks! 🥰 Stevesmudd3 months agoNew Contributor29Views0likes1Comment- lexyvana3 months agoNew Contributor15Views0likes1Comment
