Bad Service!
I recently visited your cox communications centers in National City, California and spoke to one of your associates by the name of Juan. He was very unhelpful and was the attitude he put off was like he didn't want to help us in the first place. I'm hoping that you can help me out because otherwise based on the bad experience we had on 06/19/2024, we might just switch out internet provider. I visited to see what discount or promotion can cox offer for my account. He actually did applied $10 monthly discount for 24 months but he did not really explain what's the discount is for. I was just checking my bill and based on the discount he applied to my account, he increase our internet connectivity from 500 MPBS to 1G but in reality our bill went up $10 more monthly. Instead of us just paying $100 monthly (original bill). I inquire to see how can I lower my monthly bill not to increase monthly bill. Looks like he just tricked me for giving me the 1G but added $10 more on my bill. I would rather back my 500 MPBS connectivity for $100 monthly instead for 1G for $110 monthly. Anyways our connection is really slow even we have 500 MPBS, we cannot even connect our smart TV or cannot connect the wifi to our mobile phone. I send an email to this email address abuse@cox.com but no response and chatting with one of your agent but he keeps on responding I will transfer you to our retention dept, but chat was never transfer. Hi everyone , I would like to make your life easier so you don’t have to post. I am an IT network professional. The reason your internet is slow and you are not getting full speed and you have packet loss is because cox internet lines are old and outdated . They are not meant to handle this many people working from home and not outside. The lines are over saturated and can not handle the workload. Nothing cox tells you is going to fix this problem so please don’t try. The only thing cox can do to fix this is replace your outside lan node. Which they most likely won’t do because it’s extremely expensive. Upgrading to Gigablast will not fix your problem....getting a new modem will not fix your problem... having a tech come out will not fix your problem... resetting your router will not fix your problem... the only fix is to switch providers. Nothing will change until Covid goes away. I’m sorry but this is the truth and I’m just trying to save you hours of time on hold with cox reps. Been trying to troubleshoot why I have been experienced severe lag and rubber-banding in Diablo 4. On Blizzard's support page, I worked through running a pathping and a traceroute to diagnose, but once I ran PingPlotter, this seemed to point to issues with the Cox network and not an issue with Battle.net or my hardware. The game is almost completely unplayable as several times a minute I lose sync and cannot proceed any further until the game re-syncs. I don't understand why this is happening over a Fiber connection. Screenshot below for what PingPlotter is seeing. I've seen a few other similar posts on these forums that have occurred over the last few years that are similar to this one. Doesn't seem like Cox has addressed this issue? The only solution that would seem to work is switching internet providers entirely. Cox email migration to Yahoo, Worst customer sellout ever!
I have four seperate email addresses with Cox, just moved my least used address over to Yahoo today. Not only does Yahoo flood the new address with thosands of unwanted ads, I have unwanted emails that cannot be removed or deleted. In addition they (Yahoo) decided back in Janurary of 2024 to stop allowing email "forwarding" on their platform. They say it's for security reasons and that they are looking out for their customers - bull crap, they moved it to their paid platform to make money off of a free service! With Cox I use this feature everyday on all fourt of my email addresses for every email. This is an absolute down grade from Cox Web service. My understanding that this point is that nothing can be done but migrate over to this horrible email system or be disconnect to Cox mail in the furture for not migrating over. Thanks Cox! I do not want to be bombarded by hundreds of unwanted, un-needed emails and ads that do not pertain to me. Even if they did, I didn't ask for them and I wouldn't buy anything from them by shoving their products down my throat. Just think I have to deal with this three more times. Probably going to be forced to find another service provider. The cleanup maintence factor on Yahoo is going to be way too much for me to stay on top of. Topeka Internet outage
We are from a not so isolated area in Topeka and have lost internet connection from jun 26 2024, 3:30AM early morning. Lost a day of work and pay and I understood it to be a mass service outage in our area and I was well informed via text notifications that cox is actively working. It’s Day 2 now and still no internet and it looks like just 16 of our neighbors are affected. Will this be addressed or just ignored as it is not affecting many as before. What a backwards move of twenty to thirty years by switching the Cox E-Mail to Yahoo Mail. Fire the idiot who decided to do this if they haven't been hired by Yahoo yet and go back to what we had! I can just use Gmail and cancel Cox altogether, the Internet and TV services can be had elsewhere. And they appear to banking on there being nothing we can do about it. The so-called support portion of the website is an utterly useless and deliberately includes infinite link loops. Even the "chat with our AI assistant Oliver" thing is a fake link. Not even a dead or nonfunctional link, but a FAKE LINK. Like, the thing that looks like a link ISN'T EVEN ACTUALLY A LINK. I'm paying for 200Mbps download service and all weekendthe norm has been more like 2Mbps. 20% packet loss when pinging freaking www.google.com or www.amazon.com. That's beyond unsatisfactory. Ok, so for the last 6-8 months I started receiving notices that my data was almost going over our plan. It is just my husband and i now and when we had 6 people living with us, we never went over or received notices. They're is a scam or something happening. 3 months ago, my daughter and 2 children moved in with us and last month we actually went over and I didn't want to pay overage charges, so I increased it to the 500gb. We never went over before, just was always just barely under so i didn't feel unlimited was necessary. Few months back COX upgraded our speed from 500 MBPs to 600 MBPs. We did not request this upgrade, and Cox did not change for this upgrade. This issue is observed in Irvine, Orange County California. Since then, we have been facing issues. The modem restarts frequently. I called technical support a few times, and they always mentioned that they didn't see any issue on their side. It must be my connection etc. I am not alone in facing this issue. Our friends in this area face exactly the same issue. Technicians visited homes and confirmed there was no issue with the wiring. But they never resolved the issue. There is no way to escalate this to another higher level. To me, it looks like a bandwidth issue. I already replaced the modem and don't see any improvement. In one call with technical support, the engineer mentioned seeing the backed-up traffic. they also installed an attenuator(10 DB) at my modem to reduce signal strength. I am so frustrated with this Yahoo transition that my head is about to explode! I've received the notifications, clicked the provided link, entered my address and created a new password but, I accomplish nothing! My family has 5 email addresses and now, no one can send or receive email. We use Outlook 365 and I've gone into account settings and selected repair manually, and have changed the incoming and outgoing servers to reflect Yahoo's servers but each every time I do this, it always defaults back to the Cox IMAP and SMTP servers. I backed up all 5 accounts and deleted each one thinking it would allow me to recreate them using the Yahoo settings but, I WAS WRONG! This SHOULD NOT BE THIS DIFFICULT! Cox, you say that you've always provided email services for FREE. That is a lie! I've been a customer when Cox purchased TCI in Baton Rouge in the late 1980s or early 1990s and I've always had email. Super slow speeds at night
My speeds drop down to a crawl at night during peak hours. Have been doing it for months now. Called cox, they said it’s my modem, bought a new one, same issue, they came out, said the tap was rusted, replaced it, same issue. So I have been doing a Ookla speedtest at various times of the day over the last week. My download speeds have been about 27-30 mbs and upload speeds of 60+ mbs. Months ago my download speeds were easily in the 70+ mb range, often higher than that. By the way, I am on the 500 mb plan. I have tried to figure it out with no luck. Checked my router to see if anything has changed. Nothing. Disconnected my VPN, hardly made a difference. Checked it on WIFI on my laptop, then on my desktop with a wired conection. No change, download speeds about the same. Basically nothing has changed that should account for this difference. Thinking I may be throttled by Cox, I went to my data usage in my account, where the "other" category accounted for 41% with a week and a half to go, but last cycle it was 14%??? Fortunately I am not having any issues viewing, or doing what I want on the internet, but I am concerned in the fact I am not getting NEAR what I am paying for. This is also the first time I have ever seen my download speeds being consistently beaten by a good bit by the upload speeds. Broken Arrow, OK For the last month, our internet has been going down at least twice a day every single day. Sometimes it's back in 5 minutes, other times it's been down for hours. This started not long after we upgraded our service. Been in chats/calls/ in person at our local center to ask what's going on and the most I got out of anyone was a big fat shrug, and was then told my bill would be comp'd for next month. Finally I got someone to tell me that Cox was doing work in the area - but that's about it. Nothing about if they're installing new equipment or Optic, or if someone was raiding the boxes for copper, or anything other than "working diligently to restore service". If there was work going to be done in the area, then there should have been a letter or something else letting us know, right? I've had to work from home on and off and have had to leave my house to go to the local library in order to even be able to do my job - I work call center essentially, and had to do it from my car so I wouldn't disturb the guests in the library, but this is getting RIDICULOUS.
