Internet disconnects
My internet disconnects while in game more so when both me and my roomate are on it. How can I fix this problemVincentjr22 months agoNew Contributor38Views0likes2CommentsCredit for outage
My service had a chronic outrage, affected my internet for a week. Communication was poor bc I don’t think Cox had any idea after the 1st two days when it would be fixed. I work from home and was sick with COVID so couldn’t leave. My son’s ability to complete school work was affected too. I got a $12 credit for 7 days after an 80 minute chat and being disconnected twice., insulting, One friend got $20 for the first night it was out and was calling back, another $50 for the week. I haven’t had the patience yet to call back in. To get the name changed on my account due to a death required 4 calls, resulted in 2 disconnects and 3 of 4 reps all gave me wrong info. Customer service is the worst. I actually got told by the four person for the name change that the 3rd probably hung up on me bc everything he told me was wrong. It’s hard to believe service can be so bad but it is, assumimg it’s the company culture.Mjasche2 months agoNew Contributor56Views0likes1Comment- Dsarin112 months agoNew Contributor8Views0likes1Comment

Did you know that Cox has a monopoly over our internet access? That's why our bills are so high for internet service and the quality is so poor. Our board signed up our whole complex for a deal on TV at the expense of our ability to get decent internet service. I need to have reliable unlimited data. If I can't get it from Cox, does anyone know of a satellite or other outside way to obtain decent internet service for a reasonable price?DianeS77342 months agoNew Contributor21Views0likes1CommentSuccessful Email transition to Yahoo: using Thunderbird on Windows
After spending a good deal of time and effort trying to make Thunderbird get along with Yahoo, I finally figured it out. If you are reading this, you have probably already called Cox only to find out that they have washed their hands of the whole email thing and will only refer you to a phone number for Yahoo. And of course Yahoo is not set up to handle this, so you will wait in the phone queue for half of forever only to find out that they don't know how to set it up either. So in the hope that my experience may help some other poor slob, I present the below instructions, and I hope it helps. I am using the Thunderbird program to access emails on a Windows computer, however I suspect the settings will be the same for anyone using Thunderbird. First, to transfer the emails to Yahoo and establish a webmail account, follow the directions provided by Cox as regurgitated here: "Visit mail.yahoo.com/login and enter your complete cox.net email address, including the Cox.net suffix, as your username. Then enter your current Cox password, and accept the Yahoo Mail Terms of Service. Upon signing in, you’ll set up a new password for your new Yahoo account." Now log out of the Yahoo webmail and open Thunderbird. I have my email accounts and corresponding folders located in a column on the left of the page. Yours may be set up differently, but mine is the default and I will base detailed instructions on that. Go to the left column and click on the line that shows your complete cox email address. If you have multiple addresses, you will need to perform the following instructions for each of them. Now look to the top right of the new page and click on "account settings". At the bottom of the settings page is the line "Outgoing Server (SMTP)", and at the far right of that line is a box that says "Edit SMTP server"; click on it. A pop-up window will open, adjust the settings as shown below: Description: COX Server Name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com Port: 465 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2 User Name: your user name, duh click OK Now go back to the left hand column and click on "Server Settings". On this page the settings will be as follows: Server Name: imap.mail.yahoo.com Port: 993 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication Method: OAuth2 Now close Thunderbird and reopen it. You will now be asked for a password for each of your email addresses. Use the new password that you used to set up the Yahoo webmail. Congratulations you have mail! If you want to use POP instead of IMAP I suggest you first set it up with IMAP and then go back and change the setting after you know it is working.Waleee2 months agoNew Contributor II5.2KViews5likes63Comments- fredyportillo2 months agoNew Contributor36Views0likes1Comment

Our Internet and phone has been out for Five days. COX sending txt every 6 hours, same thing, we are working on it. When called same txt is repeated with no idea what the issue is or anyone is working on it or expected date...Pretty disappointing communication. Time to look at Cellular or starlink optionredhandaxe2 months agoNew Contributor19Views0likes1CommentAverage latency?
I had had Cox for 13 years now including 1 Gbps the last couple and thought my latency was ok, but heard recently it could/should be lower. My latency averages around ~34ms, but then was told it could be less than 20ms or even 10ms (?). My download and upload speeds are good. Latency is ~34 ms both going straight from cable modem to a computer or using a wireless router (802.11ax). The coax wiring all appears ok. Yahoo mail political partisanship
Besides other issues with Cox going to Yahoo mail, I've been noticing for several weeks that Yahoo mail is selectively sorting emails as the political campaigns begin to heat up. Coming to my inbox are only Democrat party emails . Republican or conservative related emails are all going to the Junk\spam email box. For the 3 days of 8\25-27\24 my inbox shows 15 democrat emails and 0 republican. My spam email box shows 16 republican emails and 0 democrat. This is just a sample. It has been going on, I'm sure forever on Yahoo, but only noticable by Cox users since the switch. Cox, do you want to be associated with this blatant partisanship? If it continues, I will be looking for another email provider.Solvedbtswan2 months agoNew Contributor49Views0likes2CommentsApply for Connect2Complete

Where do I even start? I've only had cox for 3 months and have had problems since day 3. What crazy is cox want to charge me for full service. I get 10-12 days of actual use and no that is not in a row. 13 days straight with no service at all to 1 day you can use it to 5 days no service for an "outage". I finally was so fed up, I made them credit my account for all lost days and 1/4 day usage. It's ridiculous I pay them for a service I'm not even getting to use. They have sent out "technicians" and all they do is replace a modem and it magically works for 10 mins and guess what another outage, just my luck right? I had starlink in the middle of no where and had internet with no issues, yet fixed internet can't be bothered to work for more than a few hour or mins at this point. 1gb plan but getting 3.2 - 3.8 mbps boy what a fun time it's been. Also there is no other options for the area, so my hands are tied and may switch back to 5g mobile with a mofi. I'll pay 10-15 more for way more stable internet.Magregory19862 months agoNew Contributor II92Views1like7CommentsSplit Band toggle switch missing
I've spent an unreasonable amount of time chatting with Cox Technical Support to split the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands on my Panoramic Wifi Router in order to control certain devices in my home that require the 2.4 (the device literally won't let you connect to the dual band steering SSIN, and I can't guarantee my phone and device on the same band without manual control). According to this Cox Support page it is possible to split the bands on the Android version of the Cox Panoramic Wifi App (there is a setting under the Edit Wifi Settings, listed as Step 5) that no longer exists. It stops at Broadcast Wifi Name, there are no further settings below that, only Save. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app in case it was not working properly, no new settings appeared. Tech Support split the bands for me (technically my goal), but then when I requested the ability to manage this myself in the future, I was directed to the Pano Wifi App, to the setting that does not exist. I continued to explain that the setting is not there. They directed me to that missing setting numerous times, and then to the Gateway Router page, which directs you back to the Pano Wifi app to make any changes. I've been escalated to the same, useless instructions. I am on the most ridiculous merry go round, and feel that the technical support information on the Cox Website and their tech support staff are not adequately updated and informed. This should be an option for the consumer to access to manage their own network. I would very much appreciate any input and options to be restored regarding this issue.Solvedneguana2 months agoNew Contributor271Views0likes7CommentsData Usage
My internet usage habit does not change much from month to month: usual web-browsing, video calls, and streaming services (no game downloads etc). However, I am noticing recently that my data usage has been going up rapindly. Last month, I was charged an additional $50 (that's 250GB additional data), and this month I am apparently already 60% of usage less than 2 weeks into the cycle. Something doesn't add up here. Anyone else having this issue?prithwishpal162 months agoNew Contributor22Views0likes1CommentData caps aren't fair.
I signed up for Cox back when they didn't have data caps on accounts. Paying for unlimited data didn't exist. Then I got forced into a data cap by paying my bill. Forcing me to agree to terms and conditions when I pay my bill should be illegal. So if I don't pay my bill because I don't agree to the monopoly ISP in my town I won't have Internet. Tell me how this makes sense. I have no choice but Cox as an ISP. They force me to agree to their terms. Cox's website says I have no current contract with them. I didn't agree to this. All I did was call customer support and tell them how unfair this was. Bam, they offered me free unlimited data for 24 months. Just because Cox is seeing more cost because of streaming doesn't mean you get to pass the problem to the customer. We are paying for their short comings. If you can't provide internet to 7% of the USA without issues you shouldn't be an ISP. I recommend everyone call in to customer service and voice your opinion. Not everyone has this data cap problem, so it may not seam relevant to you. It's also funny I can add a "bandwidth allowance" tag to this post. Like internet is an allowance. Lol. The United Nations General Assembly classifies internet as a basic human right, not an allowance.coxistheworst692 months agoNew Contributor40Views1like0CommentsYahoo Email Transition Issue #2 (POP & IMAP?)

Ping spikes during multiplayer gamers
I recently moved out of on-campus housing and into an apartment. Currently, I am paying for the 1GB/s home wifi service with the most updated Panoramic modem/router. I am also taking advantage of the 5G wifi service as well. Despite that, I get ping spikes while paying for esport titles like Valorant or Overwatch. It goes from a steady 20-30ms to 150ms every 30 seconds to 1 minute of gameplay and makes playing competitive shooters unbearable. While I understand that ethernet works best for situations like these, I do not have an outlet of that sort in my room/apartment. Additionally, I have previously played competitive shooters on wifi and did not experience these types of ping spike/packet loss. What is the best way to fix this issue?kjchiba2 months agoNew Contributor65Views0likes1Comment- familyortiz262 months agoNew Contributor33Views0likes1Comment

I've noticed a long thread of customers experiencing the same issue I'm facing, and I need help. A Cox moderator marked the thread "Resolved" simply by providing a Yahoo support number, which doesn't address the core problem. I've been a Cox customer since 1999, using the same email address and forwarding it to my Gmail to take advantage of better spam filters, as Cox's filters are inadequate. With 25 years of email usage, I receive a significant amount of junk mail. Now, I've been forced to activate a Yahoo account, and I can no longer forward my email to Gmail unless I pay $5/month to upgrade. This is unacceptable—why should I pay extra on top of my already expensive Cox internet service? When I tried adding my Cox/Yahoo email to Gmail, I received server connection errors because Gmail doesn't recognize it as a Yahoo server due to the "@cox.net" domain. This leaves me with the limited option of using Yahoo webmail or adding the account to Outlook or the Mail app as a standalone account. This issue was entirely foreseeable and reflects poor planning on Cox's part. If I were the CEO of Cox, I would be deeply embarrassed and would consider firing the leader of this project. I'm now considering canceling my Cox service, but I don't want to lose my 25-year-old email address, which I should have transitioned away from years ago. Dear Moderator - don't post a Yahoo support phone number then mark this as "resolved" until there is a true resolution. What should happen is give us the Yahoo upgraded email at NO CHARGE so we can forward incoming email or migrate our mail back.SabrinaW2 months agoNew Contributor244Views0likes6CommentsHola mi internet no funciona

Called Cox help and they couldn't tell me what parental controls block nor tell me what is wrong with my parental controls (if anything). You can't control the DNS on Cox owned equipment FYI. Your best off getting software/open DNS setting per device and using the cox app to turn on and off devices. Bottomline, don't turn on parental controls on Cox and think it does something. It doesn't.scottyb12 months agoVisitor II25Views0likes0CommentsCox Technician Visit promised free but ADDS additional service to bill
I called in to speak to a representative to request someone close my cox box outside. When it rained the cables got wet and I felt like it was theirs to protect. The representative made the appointment I asked of the visit was free she said YES! Now I have his visit on my bill that no one will correct. It seems fraudulent and it gives more of a bait and switch. How can I get in contact with someone to remove the charges or pull the phone conversation where the representative said it was free. I signed nothing.Asimo8232 months agoNew Contributor34Views0likes5CommentsWay overpriced for what you get
I don’t know how many people are having the same issues with Cox Internet that I am. I came from Ohio to San Diego last year. Unfortunately spectrum is not available in my area so I’m stuck with Cox Internet. I’m paying more Internet than I was paying back in Ohio getting a quarter of the speed constantly dropping signal I use my cell phone service way more than I ever have even in my own home. I honestly haven’t had this much issues with Internet since the days of AOL at best coxes a $20 value for what I’m getting here. It’s not even limited. This is a shameful company if I had another choice, I would take it in an instant. I don’t like to complain, but I’ve had enough of it. I’m running all my cell phones and tablets off my cellular data because my Internet here is so unreliable.dtimler242 months agoNew Contributor132Views1like11Commentsdownload speed "freeze-ups"
Hello, anybody out there getting "Throttled"? Something typical that happens, the provider crams so much data that your designated speed begins to "stall", a great tactic by 'some' IP's, and now i suspect the same thing is happening to me. I am running a consistent download speed of 100 MBPS, (their entry level speed)...Now, after 7 months of service, the past 4 have been frustrating, with constant freeze-ups on my PC/laptop, android, and streaming. Now, any tech will tell me that 100mpbs is "too slow for quality streaming", but i beg to differ, in Texas i had the worst IP, and slower speeds, but never a problem like this. Anyway, I wanted to say it is a great way to get the customer to subscribe to 'higher-speeds", price increase, etc...but things are so expensive here in Arizona, with my wife and i on fixed incomes, we cannot afford a higher speed, so i will NOT...increase my speed. However,.... all the cox people i have spoken with here in Phoenix, are more than kind and helpful, so i don't really want to accuse them or say anything tantamount to that....(but....i did just "Say" 'that'..., didn't I?)..i guess my frustration gives way. I have done all maintennance protocols like clear my cache,, erase temp. files, restart my router etc...usual normal operating proceedures, but, i would like to say, please Cox, if you are "throttling" my connection, please cease, as i will not pay more for a higher speed. I will say, this is the best service yet, but i am from the backwoods of Oregon and...Texas, now in Arizona...with the 115 degree F. forecast today...(ugh!) Seriously Cox, you guys here in the sun-belt, have been great, so thanks for that. Mike.Mikeroute662 months agoNew Contributor43Views0likes2CommentsNo cumplen con las citas
7 días esperando para que te instalen el servicio, no sirve esta compañía, e perdido mi tiempoInvanameca2 months agoNew Contributor4Views0likes1CommentWas just switched to Yahoo mail...months after the others
Hope that the discussion and help folks are still active, so here goes... I have 4 email accounts. The 4th, my default and largest was moved a couple of days ago to Yahoo mail and is accessible online, but I also want it on my Android phone using the built in email app, like the other 3 that are on my phone. For some reason the final one cannot be created. Tried to set it up several times and always get this message. What do I do? "Couldn't verify account- The username or password is incorrect or POP3/IMAP access isn't turned on for this account. Check your email account settings on the web, then try again." Where is this setting?Batman2 months agoNew Contributor44Views0likes1Comment
