1 Ring Hang-up Calls
I am constantly (5 or more times a day) getting calls where it rings once and then nothing. The caller's number does not show up in the caller ID on my phone, but if I am watching TV I will see the number displayed on the TV screen for a moment. I have a Panoramic router with a Panasonic wireless phone system connected to it. Sometimes, when the phone rings and I answer, I can't hear anyone and they can't hear me. It does it just a couple of times a day but can be frustrating to both parties. I upgrated the router, no help. Switched to different phone manufacturer, no help. Unplugged the printer which is on wifi to see if the printer was trying to use fax line, no help. This is the 2nd call in the last 30 days fromwhat obviously seems to be a questionable call center in another country initiating a call concerning "problems" with my internet connection. The ID spoofs "Cox Solutions S" and they are even using a phone number spoof of a retail Cox location in Rhode Island. Interesting that a retail Cox location in another state over 1000 miles from here is catching internet connections "errors" on my connection alone. Spoofed number: 1-401-830-5400 For the record, my internet works fine 100% of the time no drops, no errors, no connection problems.2.4KViews0likes3CommentsCan't turn off Call Waiting
I can't turn off the Call Waiting Service on my Cox Voice line. The Settings switch shows that the service is turned off, but the service is on and cannot be turned off. Whenever I toggle the switch I get a message that this can't be completed at this time, please try again later. I have rebooted my Panoramic router and the fiber optical interface but nothing changes. We also tried using the * codes to turn the service on or off, but I get a message that those options are no longer available with my service. I have spoken with Cox level 2 support and they duplicated the issue using my account, but I have not ever heard from them again or seen any resolution. We get a lot of junk calls and would prefer not to be bothered by the beep whenever one comes in when we are on the phone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.1.6KViews0likes1CommentMystery Tel2 notice and Caller ID problem
Greetings, I have received an email from Cox (quoted at end) a couple of times stating that my phone is hooked up to Tel2 which causes a number of problems including inbound called ID problems. It also states that starting on 3/22 I may no longer have a dial tone. The problem is that I don't have anything connected to Tel2, only Tel1. A while back my phone was connected to Tel2 because that was the only port that was active. On 11/1/21 my phone modem was re-provisioned and the active port was set to Tel1 and all equipment is connected to Tel1 now. This was describe in the following thread: forums.cox.com/.../tel2-provides-a-dial-tone-but-tel1-does-not Incidentally, my caller ID service has gotten worse over the past few months and now I would say that less than half of calls show any caller ID info. I am not sure if this is related to the "mystery Tel2 issue" being mentioned in the Cox email of if it is something else. Is there something I need to do so I can be sure to have phone service after 3/22/22 and also restore my caller ID service to reasonably functional state? Thanks, Dean Body of email from Cox... "TELEPHONE MODEM UPDATE NEEDED Your Cox technical team has identified your account as having telephone equipment plugged into the wrong input of your Cox telephone modem. We can fix that, but here's what's happened: Your account has 1 line of service, and it's designed to operate on port 1 of the modem. Your phone equipment shows you're also connected to port 2, causing problems such as a “false dial tone”, dropped calls after 30 min, and possibly inbound caller ID issues. Starting March 22nd, 2022, a device update will disable the false dial tone; any lines connected to port 2 of the modem must be moved prior to that date."3.5KViews0likes6CommentsExcellent Ambassador for Cox - Sam
I just wanted to drop Cox a note in referrence to two employees that provided excellent customer service and should be recognized by the company. #1 Edgardo We stopped in at the Cox storefront on Federal in reference to our monthlly bill. It had grown to over $325 a month, which was far too expensive for a person on a fixed income. Edgardo researched discounts and we made a reduction of service in order to reduce our bill by $100 per month. Still expensive, but manageable. He also provided us with the information to apply for the ebb discount which will help reduce our bill even more. He worked quickly and made a next-day appointment for our out-of-date modem to be upgraded and install the free trial of HomeLife. We were in and out of the storefront in less than a half hour. #2 Sam (the installer) I apologize that I didn't get Sam's last name. He installed the new modem and HomeLife on Friday, February 4th around 1:30pm pst. What a great ambassador he is. He was super friendly and informative on how to maximize services. He worked efficiently and when he left we had total confidence that he had not only answered all of our questions, but also had the confidence to utilize all of our Cox services. He is a great conversationalist and was also cognizant of covid protocals wearing his mask and also putting booties on his shoes. We felt that he respected our home and space. He is a great example of what a home installer should be. My husband and I sincerely hope that Cox has an employee rewards program that will demonstrate and recognize these men for the great asset that they are to Cox Communications.1.3KViews0likes0CommentsVoice Tools Spontaneous Ring

This requires a new thread to get the attention of as many Cox employees as possible. If you take this suggestion to management, I guarantee you will be rewarded. Stir/Shaken is a failure. The number of spoofed calls has tripled from 6 a day to 18 a day. Why? Because prior to Stir/Shaken 95% of my 6 spoofed calls a day would come from my area code and 3-digit prefix. Cox implementing Stir/Shaken verification is working in my 949 + 3-digit area code, because the spoof calls no longer come from .949 + 3-digitarea code.Seems like it's working, no? NO, it's not working the spammers have caught on and now callsno longer come from.949 + 3-digitarea code. Now100% of my 18 daily spoofed calls come from other states where Cox can't verify the number calling, so it rings through to me. Stir/Shaken has literally tripled my number of spam calls. The alternative is it to go with a program where I have to list with Cox all the phone numbers allowed to reach me. No other numbers will get through. Easy to insert all the numbers you use frequently, but forgetting someone, they don't get through to you. Old college friend, old GF or BF, relative you haven't talked to in years. Their caller ID may just have a number, no name, and you're getting 18 spoof calls a day, are you going to return that phone call? No. I can think of many other instances where this doesn't work. One would be phoning your doctor's office after hours for an emergency. Doctor won't be calling back on your allowed office number. Nope he's calling back on his NOT allowed cell or home phone. You say turn off the allow feature. In your 60's,70's, and 80's not really that easy to remember especially if you're dealing with a medical emergency. Result: no returned call saying do this or do that. Nope, go to Hospital. Allowed call list is Not a good option. Nomorobo, 30 calls blocked, Nat'l Do Not Call registry is a joke Solution is to have an optional PAID by the consumer new program. Wherein Cox blocks all calls that originate from a foreign country that use a US number ID. Please someone take this suggestion to management.1.3KViews0likes2CommentsCox refuses to implement protocols to prevent Spoofed Callers

'Why wasn't i offered Battery backup for 911 service: I would like to purchase one to have "FCC Required" 911 Service during Power outages?' FCC: Federal Communications Commission. ACTION: Final rule. SUMMARY: In this document the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) adopts rules to promote continued access to 911 during commercial power outages by requiring providers of facilities-based, fixed residential voice services, which are not line powered, to offer subscribers the option to purchase a backup solution capable of 8 hours of standby power, and within three years, an additional solution capable of 24 hours of standby power. The item also promotes consumer education and choice by requiring providers of covered services to disclose to subscribers the following information: availability of backup power sources; service limitations with and without backup power during a power outage; purchase and replacement options; expected backup power duration;) proper usage and storage conditions for the backup power source; subscriber backup power self-testing and monitoring instructions; and backup power warranty details, if any.1.4KViews0likes2CommentsTurning OFF Nomorobo feature

What is going on with all the Robo Calls, when NOMOROBO is activated... and has been for many years?????? I believe that our government has given phone providers a deadline of July 30, 2021 to install a WORKING robo call blocker, such as STIR?SHAKEN. So far today, on a Sunday, I have had 17 robo calls. This is ridiculous!!! More than half to almost ALL the calls in a month's time are ROBO CALLS! Does COX REALLY care about their customers? When is Cox going to implement Stir/Shaken protocols to prevent Fake ID Callers, which are mostly scammers and telemarketers???
The new Stir/Shaken Protocols to prevent Fake Caller ID used by scammers and telemarketers is supposed to go active this week nationally. My Apple Cell Phone has already implemented it in early June and almost all my SPAM calling had stopped. But I still get 12-30 SPAM calls a day on my Cox Home Phone. So, I called Cox Tech Support and they had no idea about the Stir/Shaken requirements for Phone Service. By Federal Law all large Voice Providers (over 100,000 users residential and business combined) have to start protocols by 30 June 2021. If Cox Technical Support Personnel don't even know about this new requirement, then is the protocol being implemented or is Cox just blowing off the requirements and claiming they're not a Phone service or aren't technically capable of doing it. Or better yet, claiming they have less then 100,000 customers (which only requires implementation by 30 June 2023). I'd sure like to find out what's going on. Technical Support is clueless. One Cox Chat Operator knew about the protocols and told me to call Technical Support for help and they know nothing.3.2KViews2likes6CommentsNomorobo turns off and has to be reinstated
In the last 2 years I learned about Nomorobo and had a Cox support advise me how to set up. Sounded real good since we were getting 10-20-sometimes close to 30 annoying calls a day. So she advised how to reset it, which I did. Peace again..., well for a little while...., just went in again today to find NMR is turned off again. WHY?????? Why does NMR turn off by itself? Is Cox doing updates that turns off this feature?? I want to replace my existing modem DPQ3212 with a Docsis 3.1 modem, for instance an Arris Surfboard 8200. I turned the setting off and then on again and it still didn't work. Now I cannot even get into the settings. They said they moved it up to tier 3 but that was last week. Our home alarm system has worked fine with Cox phone service for over 10 years now. But on April 6 it stopped working and started getting a failed communication error. After various troubleshooting steps and verifying that all wiring was fine, I found the following: 1. If I call the number the alarm system is dialing from my Cox phone line, I get a message saying that the number has been disconnected or is no longer in service. 2. If I call the number from my cell phone, I get an answer and an immediate computer/modem tone, as expected. I tried working with someone via Cox live chat, but had difficulty getting them to understand the situation and gave up when I was told that they couldn't/wouldn't escalate my issue because they did not find any numbers blocked on my account, so they couldn't help me. Cox should seriously re-think their live chat personnel training, because telling a customer with a technical issue that they can't help and won't escalate does not generate a positive image in any way. In fact, that one interaction has me already seriously considering switching service providers for phone and Internet to a different company. Just to be certain, I contacted my alarm service provider next and verified that they have not disconnected or terminated service on any of the local alarm access numbers. I double checked and verified that I still got a disconnected message when dialing the alarm monitoring number from the Cox phone, and that I got an answer by a computer/modem when calling from other service providers. So, it's back to Cox to try and get this issue resolved. I need to know how to contact someone who is competent and willing to go beyond checking my account to sort out this issue. Since the options shown on the web site are to use the live chat, show up at a Cox store, or use the support forum, I'm trying here (I shouldn't have to spend my time and fuel to try and get someone at Cox to look into what they changed which broke my alarm system's monitoring). It would be nice if the web site's "Contact Cox" page had a number to call for local support if needed, or at least a number for issues that the live chat people are clearly not equipped to help with.5.1KViews0likes8CommentsUnknown calls

I have had calls drop, garbled with or without a headset, and have even purchased a new phone that is DECT 6.0. The base is in close proximity to the router (just replaced it also) and modem. The phone base is about 3 feet from the router and 5 feet from the Cox modem with two other handsets in the house. On calls, I constantly get drops, garbling, and told I sound like I am underwater. I have had Cox out here numerous times with no luck finding problem. I purchased a better headset, but even when not using it, I still have some problems. This issue is intermittent. I have Cox Hub in my backyard, so I am close to it. This happens on long distant calls the most, as that is the calls I am usually on.
