FYI - Once again, unable to perform Searches on Contour 1 DVR
The problem: On Friday, 6/27/2025, I encountered the following previously reported (and resolved) search problem associated with Contour 1 DVRs: While I can see the TV guide entries well into the future by scrolling through the guide, when I do a search for a specific show (e.g., "Mannix", "ABC World News") I am unable to get any hits (this time) beyond Monday, 6/30/2025. I have unplugged/waited-a-few-minutes/plugged in the DVR to let the software and guide reload, but that did not help. That day (Friday), I submitted the problem to cox.help@cox.com. Cox Help (CCI-Atlanta)/"Juan" quickly responded and submitted a trouble ticket (number CUI000017461739). As of this moment, 12:40 pm (Eastern) Sunday, 6/29/2025, the problem has not been fixed. I'll report back on this forum when the problem is resolved. The problem was most recently identified in this forum by RickH about a month ago. Background: This exact same problem has occurred several times in the past, most recently one month ago. Following are the occurrences and the associated ticket numbers: 6/27/2025 - (current occurrence) - ticket CUI000017461739 5/26/2025 - ticket CUI000017335487 4/4/2025 - ticket CUI000017198245 12/2/2024 - ticket CUI000016769324 8/16/2019 (I don't have that ticket number). Having the above ticket numbers should help the technicians more quickly understand and resolve the problem. Just another unannounced unscheduled TV service outage by Cox. You have to get used to it if you have Cox services, on any given day, you just don’t know if you’re going to have TV, Internet, Phone service or not! Tonight 12:30am it’s TV outage, and they expect me to be up at 4:30am to see if service has been restored. On 6-30-2025 at 1:30 pm while watching tv it al of sudden the picture went black. I got on the app and it stated that there was an outage and should be corrected by 4:21pm. I waited an hour and a half and returned to the app and it said that there was no outage. My tv was still out. So I started a chat. I asked for a live agent. The agent worked for about and hour on the issue with no help. I was posting on the chat the entire time. As I told the agent that the internet that it went out, they then after asked if the internet was working. Then I got both tv and internet back and I posted it. Then they both went out again and I posted again. The entire time the agent was one step behind. Then both came back and have been working. The agent then said to have a tech come out to look but I would be smart and buy an insurance plan so I would not have to pay. I have seen this issue mentioned in several posts over the last few years but no resolution. Intermittent problem with the Contour box and the remote not functioning. Television either goes completely out or is stuck on one channel and will not respond to any remote functions. Stays like this for a few hours and then begins functioning properly. This could occur once or several times a day and I constantly get messages asking to check connections and the messages include various codes such as: RDK-03004, RDK-03033, RDK-03032, RDK-03030. I have checked connections and swapped out the Contour box and remote with no improvements. Phone support only sends a reset which does not solve the problem. I have had two service calls scheduled but had to cancel them because the system was operating properly at the time they were to arrive. Don't see the point in having a tech come out if they can't see the problem while it is occurring. Once again, everything is out here in Guthrie, OK. It’s been several hours and their app said it would be back by 1:51pm. Well, that came and went two hours ago and now it says 5:51pm. We’ll see. And, do ya think they would knock a few bucks off our very expensive bill? Noooooo. I recently had my ARRIS DVR box replaced. I specifically declined having it replaced with a cloud DVR because I want to keep the recordings stored locally on my DVR box. Since it was replaced, I don't know what has happened on Cox's end, but my DVR recordings randomly and mysteriously get deleted overnight. It has nothing to do with reaching memory capacity. Channels like 132, insp. Why the he'll am I paying 260 a month when the dam program freezes all the time? Perhaps I should have my payments freeze, after all, I'm paying for service COX IS NOT DELIVERING. Cox, Has the ability to search for non-on-demand shows been removed from Contour 1 devices? I have several “saved” searches that have worked for years and they can no longer retrieve shows from the guide. Even if I manually attempt to search for a show, the results are always zero. It can search for on-demand shows but that is much less helpful than searching for upcoming shows/movies. This is a key feature of your system and is very disappointing. I now have to use the Contour app to search for a show, find it, note the date/time/channel and then go to that spot in the guide to record the show. Beyond frustrating. This hasn’t worked for a couple weeks. I’ve rebooted the box several times but no change in functionality. I searched the tv forum and saw a similar issue about 6 months ago but it was resolved after a few days. Anyone else having this issue if you still have a contour 1?
