Audio on Cox DVR not synced with Video
I have called Cox many time to complain that my DVR sound does not match the video. They usually just reboot my cable box and it is ok for a couple hours. Last week I scheduled an appointment for a technician to check out my cable signal. It was confirmed it was fine. Technician replaced DVR with new Cisco DVR box. The problem did not go away. Today I fixed problem. 1. Press Contour button 2. Select settings (icon al the way to the right). 3. Select Device Setting 4.Select Audio 5. Select HDMI Audio Output: 6.Change from Auto Detect (Dolby Digital 5.1) to Expert mode Sound delay instantly fixed. I hope this is useful to someone9.6KViews2likes1CommentBilling statement and system do not match
For the past 6 months, my billing statement and what is reflected online as to what I owe do not match. I called CS back in February and thought it had been resolved. This month, I paid my bill based on my statement balance before the due date. I’m gettting automated emails and phone calls that it is overdue and that my service will be suspended. Last month my billing statement reflected a credit. I have called CS several times, each time a “form” was submitted. The issue still has not been corrected. The CS individuals have looked at the statement and the system noting that they are different but no solution has occurred. Who can I talk to get this resolved? Is there any one in the CS organization who can help? I’ve talked to 3 supervisors and none have been able to help. Is there someone higher in the CS organization I could talk to?491Views0likes3CommentsHonest Feedback
Not sure that this is the forum but I am a new customer. I subscribed with Cox in early July. I live in a luxury apartment at The First National Centef in OKLAHOMA city. Last night we lost service for a few hours. This is not the first time. I've only been a customer for 2 months and have 5-6 interruptions already. Is this common. I've called twice, once reset and a few just waited and restored in the morning. Last night, I had friends over to watch a game and again, no cable or internet. It usually happens at night. I work 6 days from 9 am to 11pm and look forward to coming home and relaxing with the tv on. It's disappointing. Coming from the northeast and Comcast this would happen like once a year, not 3 times a month. thanks39Views0likes1CommentThe Cord is Cut.
Saying goodbye from an account that has paid Cox monthly since 1978. Was it the annual boost in cost due to a "Loyalty Program" expiring? Was it the threats to possibly charge me to have a technician come out to help me regain service? Or was it the lengthy waits to speak to a support person because they were experiencing "unusually heavy volume" of calls? Actually it was because they quoted me a new rate after I dropped their overpriced and sluggish internet service, and later snuck in a $53 overcharge, and refusing to consider waiving it. Streaming now with YouTube and Netflix... Keeping all my programs, and saving almost $100/mo. Bye!101Views0likes2CommentsBurial of cable
A work was put I. To bury the cable on the in side of my fence. The person was supposed to come last Friday but never came. I took the lock off the gate so that he was able to complete the job. My fence has been without the lock for weeks. This need to be completed ASAP20Views0likes1CommentPlease make an option to turn off screensaver
It serves no function, and even if it did, there is no reason to not let people turn it off if they want to. The TV channel is the screensaver, and there are all kinds of reasons that people might want their TV to stay on even if they are not there to hit a button on the remote. I have requested this easy fix by calling customer service many times with no real response. I see many people have been making this request for years. I'm canceling if the issue is not addressed by the end of the month. Thank you.87Views1like3CommentsVA Tech football game not showing on B10 Network in Northern VA
Not sure what happened, but I posted this issue an hour ago and it got deleted by someone. The Big 10 Network (Channel 109) in Northern Virginia is supposed to be showing the VA Tech vs. Rutgers game but has been showing Iowa vs. Western Michigan game since kickoff at 3:30 PM Moderator indicated issue was reported upward but the wrong game is still showing at 5:15 PM. Would appreciate someone fixing this before it's a moot point (e.g., game is over).22Views0likes3Comments- 25Views0likes1Comment
How to remove unwanted scheduled programs you can't delete
I checked out the college football season weeks ago and scheduled a game for my favorite team by a manual rercording because it was too early for it to be listed in the program guide. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss it. As the date got closer, the game became available in the Program Guide so I decided to delete the manual recording and schedule it via the Program Guide. It seemed like a good idea at the time. When I tried to delete the manual recording, I got an error. I should remember the exact wording since I saw it so many times. I tried a number of things and wound up with five "Untitled" scheduled programs I couldn't delete, but were using up available recording slots. I was getting frustrated at this point. Then it occurred to me to just change the recording time to a couple of minutes from now. Each of the "Untitled" programs began recording right on schedule and I deleted them from Recorded Programs. Going forward, I'm just going to wait and schedule from the Program Guide.46Views0likes0CommentsVA Tech game not on B10 network
Today's VA Tech game was supposed to be on the Big 10 network (channel 109) in Northern VA but has been showing another game since kickoff. Other game went into weather delay so coverage was switched to VA Tech game temporarily. Assuming it'll switch back to non-VA Tech game once weather delay is over. Someone fix the correct Big 10 that Cox is using please!30Views0likes6CommentsWelcome to the TV Support Forum

I have plugged the coax cable into the cable wall outlet but no TV. It keeps saying restart TV box on my TV. I don't use cable - I use satellite - and only got the minimum package for local channels which satellite doesn't provide. Has anyone else had this issue? I have no idea how you validate an active cable wall outlet.181Views0likes5CommentsCannot See List of Recordings on WatchTV
I can record and view recordings on my TV fine, but when I try to view my recordings onhttps://watchtv.cox.com/recordings,all I see is an error message that says "Unable to Retrieve Recordings There was a problem retrieving your recordings. Just bought a new TCL Roku TV and a Vizio soundbar that is connected via optical cable. The TV button will turn on and off the TV (all good there). Thanks134Views0likes1Commentwhich cable splitter is best for 4k on COX
My internet (500Mb down, 50 up) works fine, the tv signal tested fine until after a 3way splitter and it stops working several times a week for the 3 tvs, one new main box, two mini boxes. 3 service calls with new main box replacement, street connector redone, signal tests fine through the internet connection, and poor after a 3-way splitter to the 3 cox boxes. Last service rep worked for 2 days, installing a signal amp before the three way splitter, but signal still drops off the mini boxes and the main box at unpredictable times. Resetting the boxes by unplugging the power supply to force a reboot takes a long time to sometimes get a tv working. I suspect that the 3way splitter or the cable connection after the internet signal splitter is bad. I need to know what the specification should be for replacement 2-way and 3way splitter should be. This bad signal strength seems to be related to the extreme heat we are experiencing for the last couple of years. The house attic is over 100F, even with about half of the roof covered by solar panels. The repair service seems to be dead to new phone calls!123Views0likes1CommentUsing a PC instead of a cable box.
Due to COX constantly going up in price, and they refuse to offer a app for Roku and Firestick to watch everything you pay for without a cable box like other cable companies do, I was wondering if anyone has come up with the cheapest laptop with an HDMI output that could support a add on remote control, to stream COX to your home TV? I have several cable boxes in the house that I would like to turn in to save on the rental fee. However I don't want to use an expensive laptop for the streaming. I was thinking of a Raspberry pi to connect its browser to "watch cox with any device" (which isn't true since they don't support (like other cable companies) Roku and Firestick. Any experimenters out there? Ken131Views0likes2CommentsNetflix streaming dropping, says my internet is out and then I have to reset box. I have been having internet issues for several weeks. Cox won’t help. They keep saying to check my connections.
After they said to check my connections for like the fourth time, I replaced the splitter with an identical part and also the coax cable between the splitter and wall. Things seemed better but now they are bad again. While watching Netflix, the service has dropped 3-4 times in two hours. The checking for issue feature keeps saying my internet connection is the issue. Is it true that a bad internet router could cause Netflix to drop? I am so aggravated with this issue.174Views0likes3CommentsContour not updating
Good morning! I've noticed that Contour is no longer updating every morning around 4 a.m. The last time I noticed it updating was Wednesday, August 16. Here, in the Virginia Beach area where I live, we had a cable outage last Tuesday around 6 p.m., so I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but it hasn't worked daily since then. This also means that OnDemand hasn't been updated since then. I noticed this morning that at 4;04 a.m. the light on the cable box got brighter so I thought it was going to update. However, it only blinked once and that was it. On Saturday and Sunday (I was up watching the World Cup soccer games) it didn't update at all. Can you check on this? Thank you.468Views0likes5CommentsHSC tuning adapter available?
I saw in a Tivo specific forum that some people in the San Diego received a new HSC Tuning Adapter from Vecima and according to them, it seems to have fixed the issue of the the Cisco Tuning Adapter constantly rebooting. Are there any plans to start rolling these out to the Phoenix market? I have had to have my tuning adapter disconnected for over a year now because of the constant rebooting and cancelling my recordings. It would be very nice to be able to actually receive all the channels I have been paying for over a year and not receiving. I know the local Cox techs, like the one that came out to my house for this issue, claim no one else is having reboot issues but me and ton of others in a Tivo specific forum beg to differ.Solved1.6KViews1like22Comments- 206Views0likes1Comment
CNBC live does not work on any of devices connected to Cox?
Hi I just moved in and have Cox internet,CNBC live will not work on any of devices? The audio only works but the live broadcast is just a black screen, this the same on my Samsung tablet, TV, Motorola phone and hp computer. Does Cox block CNBC, same if I use the CNBC app, or use computer? Any help would be appreciated.188Views0likes1CommentWeird Local CHannel behavior
We have two TiVo's both with CableCards & Tuning Adapters. Over the past few months the following has been occurring pretty regularly, but, at different times... On our local channels only, in the early morning 5am-9am(ish) all of our local channels either start breaking up, digital artifacts & eventually we get a screen with a message basically saying Channel not available or cannot tune to that channel. Every other channel works fine from CNN, Weather Channel, HBO, Max, etc. Only the local channels. Usually later in the AM the channels miraculously work again, then around 5pm they exhibit the same symptoms. Cox cannot figure out what's happening & want to dispatch a tech, which would cost me $75 if they don't find an issue. There is a high possibility that they won't find an issue unless they can come out when it's occurring. I want to say it's obviously something in Cox's infrastructure causing this, since it is both Tito's exhibiting the same thing. I've tried removing a splitter for one Tivo in case it was a signal issue, but, no difference. Getting ready to cut the cord, we now switch the TV over to Plex in the AM which get's it's antenna feed form a HDHomeRun (now with ATSC3.0, superior picture, than cable as well). Anyone have any ideas on how to proceed?163Views0likes1CommentHubs for Contour
I’m a quadriplegic and need to use voice recognition completely. I cannot get my contour box to communicate with my fire cube. Is there a hub (like the old harmony hub) that can send the IR signals to the Arris box. I’ve tried different IR blasters with a new Amazon Fire TV Omni. I’ve tried adding a fire tv cube to the tv. I’ve tried a Aqara hub with no consistent results.192Views0likes1CommentCox Las Vegas: Tuning adapters no longer available
I visited a Cox Store on Rancho today and was told by the rep that she could no longer add a tuning adapter to my account because there was "no code" for it. I already have parental controls set up, but I don’t want it to show up at all. It’s difficult to constantly say no because it shows up, versus not having it there as a reminder at all. So over all of this app and technology for little kids.194Views0likes1CommentCloud DVR performance in web browsers has really deteriorated
The last few days, it's been essentially impossible to watch a recording in progress on my Windows 11 PC in Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. For example, CNBC daytime programsget stuck in an infinite "Attempting to Resume..." page when I try to time-shift more than a few minutes into the program. Sometimes, they won't allow it at all and will just start over from the beginning. It used to be, I could advance to within a minute of where the recording was live , and it would play fine, and I could pause TV, skip back, etc, while still watching the program in near real-time. Now it'sunusable for that.I've also seen an infinite "skip back loop", where theprogram willplay for a couple seconds, skip back, and play the same couple seconds again, over and over again until I stop it. Even at its best,I had to manuallybuffer a minute or so ofan ongoing recording, because trying to watch it live caused it to pausea few seconds a couple times per minute. While having to manually buffer wasn't great, at least it was usable with it being only a minute. Lately, it's been impossible to watch in near real-time.681Views0likes7CommentsCan't watch recorded shows in Chrome
I've been using my iPad the last month due to the web browser players on Windows 11 being so unreliable, but to further research the audio glitches plaguing the iPad (and iPhone) apps, I tried to watch some recordings in Chrome to see if they occurred at the same places. Well, attempting to watch a CBS, CNBC, or CNN recording (all I have) in full-screen Chrome results in a black screen with the channel logo in the middle and three animated dots below it. Nothing plays, neither video nor audio, and moving the mouse doesn't bring up any controls like the close button. The only way to get out of this is to shut down Chrome (Alt+F4). I've tried deleting cookies and site data, but that didn't help. I did find that startingplayback of a recording in windowed mode plays, and then I can full-screen it, and it keeps playing, but this is a regression compared to when I was using browsers prior to switching to the iPad. It does work in Edge and Firefox. Just Chrome seems to have broken.211Views0likes2CommentsPicture in top left hand corner (SOLVED)
I got a new Samsung 55 inch QN90B neo QLED tv and started having a problem with a small picture in the top left hand corner of the screen every morning. Initially, to fix it it required a reboot of the Arris DVR or going to settings on the DVR and switching to 480p res and then back to 1080p. After many days of experimentation, I found that by disconnecting the HDMI cable to the TV overnight during the daily update, the problem did not occur. So the conclusion I came to was that there is some kind of interaction bewtween the tv and dvr box during the daily update. To isolate the TV from the DVR, I decide to purchase a HDMI splitter from Amazon for around $20.I connectedthe DVR HDMIoutput cable into the splitter input and connected one of the splitters outputs to the one of the TVs HDMI inputs. This apparently did isolate the interaction between the TV and DVR during daily updates and cured the problem.154Views0likes0CommentsContour TV app on the iPad
I've been using the Contour app on my new 10th gen iPad for a few weeks now and have run across a few nagging problems. 1. Micro audio dropouts in channels like CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC, particularly noticeable when listening through headphones, occurring every minute or two if not more frequently, during the program itself and commercials. I had the same problem years ago with YouTube TV, but they were able to reproduce it, and they fixed it. When they occur in recordings, they are reproducible by skipping back and replaying. When watching South Park on Comedy Central, when the show goes to commercial and vice versa, the first moment of the audio glitches just about every time. 2. Watching Live TV, e.g. CNN, video will freeze while audio keeps playing. Screen eventually dims, goes black, and playback stops. Fix: Stop and restart playback. 3. The bottom row of the guide is mostly hidden by the app's action bar (Home, Live TV, My library, and Browse buttons). For my Favorites set, I had to add an unwanted channel to the end to ensure the last of my favorites is visible.319Views0likes4CommentsContour 2 daily restarts
Ever since a cox tech replaced something on the pole outside my house several weeks ago I have almost daily service interruptions requiring a reboot. Sometimes more than once a day. I just replaced one of the in house contour boxes last week and it’s been no help. I just lost service twice in the last hour and it’s still just showing the welcome screen for the last 10 minutes I’ve ask the techs on a chat and on the phone to send someone to look at the hardware on the pole which must be defective and they won’t do it.404Views0likes3Comments- 167Views0likes2Comments
Default Channel
I see posts from like 4 years ago, but nothing more recent, so the answers there are probably irrelevant. We just got the newer cox boxes, the ones that work through the Panoramic Wifi router, and noticing there is no 'Channel' menu any more. That was where you used to be able to select what channel you would like each box to power up to each day. In our case, one of the music channels. Couldn't find any other place it might have been moved, and don't see anything under labs. Is there a place to set the default power on channel? Was it removed? If so, why? Thank you.300Views0likes6Comments
