Transfer account

I am moving to Texas where I don't plan on having Cox. I want to transfer the account I have in my name to my roommate (we share it anyway), however, I don't have a phone.

How can I get this done? Or shall I just cancel the account and let him start a new one?

I don't want him to have to pay that start-up cost when it's already working.

    He is also an authorized user.

    Also: cox says it has live chat and when I click it, it just sits there saying that it's available with nothing to click. Great website, internet company.

    I decided I would just make him an authorized user and remove my payment method.

    You can make him an authorized user however note that should any issues occur ultimate responsibility would lie with the account holder.  In the original situation you described the procedure would be basically to disconnect service in your name and for him to establish service.
