Cox ruining Fortnite and Live Streaming experience with PACKET LOSS
Okay I started getting packet losses two months ago, which is like a freaking cancer. I did everything from switching coax, hard wiring modem to pc, new ethernet cords, even buying a new modem and sending cox the one they rented me out (new modem is cox compatible Netgear Nighthawk c7000). spoke to probably more than 20 techs online who by the way all did the same thing, reset my modem and cleared the cache. I had two techs come out to look at my house and one changed the lines, which did absolutely nothing, probably made it worst. The next one came and connected my modem into his little device and he said that everything was good, and he left. Now i look like the boy who cried wolf, but i know for *** sure i'm not the only one having this stupid problem. It seems to always happen more at night than in the morning, network congestion or what? Why is there no cure to this cancer yet, seriously... what do we have to do, EVEN if i get another tech sent out to my house what will they do? look at the modem and say its good? they have no idea how to approach this situation. I have the ultimate package w/ the unlimited data plan bringing me the max amount of $ i could pay for internet with cox, I for *** sure know i'm getting ripped off, I'm probably better plugging my computer directly into a potato. Packet losses ranging from 10%-60% all night long, jittery gameplay, unable to live stream AT ALL download speeds are reading as it should, normally 200-300 mpbs... but upload, oh yes upload speeds are a whopping Less than 1mpbs...(paying for 30mbps btw) every night, tried every speed test site i could find, the meter stick doesn't even move, looks like its trying to go backwards if anything. I hate this city for only having cox as the main isp that offer high speeds lol. god this ** so bad, vent over. solution you wont find, i just wanted to complain and get this off my chest since cox doesn't do anything with reimbursing me from all this stress and frustration. Unplugging modem for 10 seconds and plugging it back in now for the 42,371,284th time...Solved56KViews2likes53CommentsDownload speed fine. Poor/intermittent upload speed.
Hi, Recently I've been experiencing issues with my upload speed. The download speed is fine. Sometimes when I run the cox recommended speed test, I'll have around 8Mbps upload, and 30 seconds later I'll get 2-3Mbps upload. I'm currently on Preferred 150/10. Definitely seeing more 2-3Mbps upload test results than anything close to 10, sometimes I've even gotten 0 back. Done the whole basic troubleshooting with multiple support representatives and boy does that get old. Yes I know how to reset. Yes I know to bypass the router. No I haven't changed any set up on my end, but somehow I'm experiencing terrible upload speeds and intermittent drops. I have an sb6183 arris modem, wrt1900ac router, upstream and downstream status look okay to me, so I'm assuming something has to be the issue from the connection to my house to the cox node, or somewhere along the way. Half the cable is new to the modem. Was told I can't have a technician come out and take a look because I'm not renting a cox modem - really?! Really baffled on this one, and could use some help. Most recent speed test and modem status linked. speed test modem status Thanks!Solved20KViews0likes50CommentsVERY slow upload speeds and normal download speeds...
https://imgur.com/a/hZaWFvA https://imgur.com/a/RAwY0Iy The upload speed is so incredibly slow most of the time despite 2 different service technicians coming by to check on the system. At this point, I have no idea what to do. I can't stream, play video games, or even upload a facebook photo. I pay a lot of money in the gigablast service and no one seems to have a clue... If any of you have tips please let me know!4.3KViews0likes7CommentsSlow Upload Speeds after 6pm
Hi everyone, I have been having an issue where my upload speeds will drop significantly from 30mbps upload, to 1.0mbps or even less. This happens around the same time every night, at 6pm PST. I have had two technicians come out, and they have yet to fix the problem. They said I have some ingress in my line, but nothing really bad. The thing is, my internet will be fine throughout the whole day (I work from home), but right at 6pm it takes a huge dip and I can't upload anything. Download will take a hit from 300mbps to about 200mbps, but I am way more worried about my upload. Around 5am, the speeds will go back to normal. Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to fix this? I am using the panoramic modem that COX has provided. I am paying for 300mbps download, and 35 upload. Will consider buying a modem and router if that will fix my problem. Thank you, ScupieG2.8KViews0likes6CommentsIntermittent Upload Speeds
Hopefully someone here can assist me. I currently have the internet package that allots 500mbps Download/10mbps Upload. For the last 9 months my upload speeds have been inconsistent. I am a content creator for Twitch TV, so my job relies on my live uploads. During these live upload streams, my bitrate (which is set to 4000kbps) is constantly "bouncing" from 0kbps - 5000kbps. I have had at least 5 technicians come to my home in the last 30 days. They all agree that I am suffering from intermittent speeds and packet loss and the problem is somewhere BEFORE it reaches the relay behind my house. According to my broadcasting software, these issues are due to "Insufficient Bandwidth". It is also worth mentioning that during my live uploads, all my devices on the network paused except for my desktop. My gaming console isn't connected to the internet. AttachedareUpstream/Downstream power level, a pingplotter test from a couple days ago, a speed test I just completed today, and my last streaming log. What more can I do? Things that have been done: Cox Panoramic modem/router has been replaced with a new Cox Panoramic Modem/Router All inside cables (ethernet, Coaxial) have been replaced Drop line outside home has been replaced Built a brand new PC from scratch to eliminate the possibility of having a "dated" pc Relay on the Tap behind my house has been replaced.2KViews0likes4CommentsTerrible Download and Upload with Gigablast
Have been getting terrible Download and upload speeds. I pay for Gigablast and am getting nothing close to what I have been paying for. This is a direct connection have tried everything I usually get told to do multiple times. https://imgur.com/a/qIGegeN1.5KViews0likes6CommentsUpload Horrible
I have an ARRIS SURFboard SB8200A that is 4 years old. I have a RT-AC3100 router. Gigabit Ethernet package There are days that are good and days that are bad. Download is usually around the 500-700 mark. It is the upload that is BAD. But it isnt all the time, and I dont know if there is any consistency to the times when it works or when it is really bad. I use speedtest.net to test. When it is really bad, I sit under 1 upload, and other times it is <5. There are sometimes when it is the 30+ that it should be, but more often than not it is under. Cox support suggests buying a new modem. I just dont feel like spending the money to keep going on a merry go round of problems that has been my Cox service. Any thoughts or input that has helped you or anyone you know?799Views0likes4CommentsUnexplained price hikes and no customer support
In December, with no explanation, several vague charges ("premium support" and several "partial month" charges) were added to my bill resulting in an increase of 40%. Additionally, I call to have these explained and there is no support available, only a callback offered for late next week. Is this the "premium support" Cox is charging for? This is in addition to an already relatively expensive 1 gig plan I pay for with consistent upload speed of less than 10 mbps, thereby rendering my home office borderline unusable. This combination of unjustified price hikes on top of high prices, poor connectivity and non-existent customer service is unacceptable. It suggests either gross incompetence, unethical business practices or some combination of both. Perhaps, I will get a response on here as this seems to be my only outlet for immediate communication with the company. Does anyone at Cox care to reach out and answer some of my questions? Thanks772Views0likes3CommentsAfter outages in my area, no upload speed
Outages occur pretty regularly here in Norfolk, VA. And often times after it is “resolved” I find myself with little to no upload speed. Although I’m paying for up to 30 mbps. The usual response from tech support is my equipment is broken. i have replaced the modem with a Cox approved device. And have tried the Cox provided equipment and even replaced the router. There is no way it’s my equipment. couple questions. Could it be the wiring up to or in my house? anything to reduce my bills if I’m not being provided the speeds I’m paying for?559Views0likes1CommentA demand for higher upload
Just a form to ask why we have such slow upload speeds? As a photographer, videographer, and graphic designer I NEED more than 10mbps upload speeds! The fact that I’m only offered 10 or 35 if I paid a premium is outrageous. There is a need, I am paying you, fill it.485Views0likes1Comment
