Why can't I port forward?
I have the PW7 Panoramic Gateway. I used to have PW6, and port forwarded with no issue, but then the router stopped working, so I had to get a replacement. Now, I just want to forward a single port - avery simple task and basic feature of any router. When I was first searching on where to find this option, I found a site that suggested going tohttps://wifi.cox.com/. But all this tells me to do is download the Cox WiFi app. Instead, I decided to try going to the settings in my browser, at 192.169.0.1. I can access the settings just fine, but when I click through to port forward, it tells me to download the Cox WiFi app. Fine, that's annoying, but I can do that. When I go to the app, I click wifi > view wifi equipment > advanced settings > port forwarding. Then it says "Something unexpected happened. Try again or come back later." I cannot get this message to go away. I have "tried again later" for the past two weeks. I have uninstalled and reinstalled four times. Nothing will get this page to load. Everything else on the app loads correctly, but not this one single page. I did customer live chat, and the person there, in the most robotic way possible, said port forwarding is not possible. That's simply ridiculous. So I went to complain on Twitter, and the Cox Twitter account told me to DM them. They said I CAN port forward, but for that support I needed to pay $10/month for "complete care" - no, absolutely not, I am not paying $10 to get someone else to tell me that I can't do something anymore. So then, I called the support line directly, and got to tier 2 support. They sympathized with me and said they have the same model Panoramic Gateway, and they were able to port forward just fine. It was the weekend so she put in a ticket and said it would be a few days before I heard back. Today (5 days later) I called because I hadn't heard anything back yet. The new tier 2 person was equally helpful and sympathetic, but they said the resolution on the ticket I had submitted was to tell me to go the website to access my router settings. Which, if you recall from above, tells me to go to the app. Which does not work. They said this is called a "do loop". They said they can't do much else for me, said it sounds like an issue with the app so the best they could offer was for me to wait for the app to update. Googling this issue has lead me to threads similar to this for years now. So I am not hopeful for any quick resolution here. I am aware I can buy my own modem/router and forward my ports myself, however, the "plan" I'm currently on gives me this Panoramic Gateway for free, so I do not want to buy $100+ worth of equipment for access to a basic feature. So in conclusion: can someone please answer me this very simple question, speaking as a human person and not giving me another canned response: Is port forwarding actually still an option on Panoramic Gateways, and if so, why am I not able to? (If it's no longer an option - WHY NOT?)734Views1like17CommentsPort Forwarding using Arris S33 to Linksys EA6400
Hello forum members I've just switched from ATT to Cox recently and have some issues with port forwarding. With ATT: Arris BGW210-700 to Linksys EA6400, Port forwarding has been working on this setup. (ports 7, 9 and 1723) With Cox: Arris S33 to Linksys EA6400, Port forwarding is NOT working on this setup. (ports 7, 9 and 1723) On both setups, the IP address on Linksys EA6400 is changed from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1, so there is no change when I switched from ATT to Cox. The Internet is working with Cox, but the port forwarding is NOT working. Does Cox block the port forwarding? It will be greatly appreciated if you can share your experience.3.2KViews1like23CommentsPort Forwarding on Cox Wi-fi App?
I am having trouble opening ports on my TG1682G Panoramic Wi-Fi router. I have installed the Cox Wi-Fi app, but it has proved unhelpful. Going to the dedicated section for port forwarding immediately throws an error message, saying "Something unexpected happened", with no further technical details that could help me diagnose the issue. I am running an up-to-date version of the Android Cox Wi-Fi app on my phone, and this feature fails to function both over cellular data and over Wi-Fi. There are other sections of the app that also tell me they "can't display [my] details right now", which may indicate an issue with the service the app should be connecting to. There is no other means of opening ports on my router, since the feature has been removed from all other services- accessing the router from the default gateway results in a redirect to wifi.cox.com, which has also seen its features stripped to move to the app. Many posts on this forum say "Buy another router". Maybe someday soon- but I'd appreciate help in finding interim/stop-gap solutions, even frustrating ones, if there are any. One post had a recommendation to reach out to an email, but they asked for a lot of personal information- so I asked for a phone number. No reply yet.1KViews1like2CommentsPort forwarding issue
I'm attempting to open the ports that Final Fantasy 14 uses. In the Panoramic Gateway, I've reserved an IP for my desktop PC. On wifi.cox.com, I've set up the correct ranges and protocols for port forwarding to my PC. Advanced Security is OFF. I've rebooted the Gateway. However, when I go to a port checking site, the specified ports report as closed and over a dozen of the common ports report as closed too.496Views0likes1CommentUnable to create or edit existing port forwards (Panoramic Router)
I am currently unable to to modify or create new port forward on my Cox Panoramic Router. I have been able to make them in the past, without any issues at all. However for the last few months, when I attempt to make/edit an existing port forward I get a error saying message saying "We're having some trouble - Please try again. If the problem persist, check back later". (Screenshot:https://www.screencast.com/t/PmLOGrVKFE) I've tried the following steps to attempt to resolve this: Restarted Gateway (duh) Cleared cache and cookies as well as attempt port forwards from 3 different desktop computers - same error Installed the "Cox Wifi App" on my phone (with wifi turned off) to remote manage gateway setting - same error (rules out a device or network issue) Factory reset the Gateway - Obviously this cleared my old port forwards as well as everything else, forcing me to manually re-configured my network... but I am still unable to create a new port forward (same error) At this point I am convinced it must be something with either the gateway itself, or a recent update changed something on Cox side with the remote management tool works. Has anyone else had this issue? Surely I can't be alone here!576Views0likes0CommentsPort Forwarding Multiple Devices To The Same Ports
Hello, I need to forward multiple devices (a desktop and a laptop) through the same ports on my router, but attempting to do so throughwww.cox.com/mywifi gives an error that each port can only forward a single device. Is there a way to work around this?1.8KViews1like4CommentsPORT FORWARDING don't work ! ! ! !

Hows it going all. Been seeing quite a few people complaining about the switch that happened with port forwarding. I'm attempting to SSH into a raspberry pi from a completely separate network, and every time i port forward the raspi, the port never opens on the router (tested with telnet andhttps://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/) I went in (to the app COX support, because you blocked the firmware option that made it simple and easy), and selected the raspi, told it the port i wanted forwarded, and saved it. I can now view it, and look at it, but not use it apparently? Any ideas anyone? I've tried PuTTy and just ssh through cmd/powershell.1.1KViews0likes1CommentSingle Port Forwarding?
Iam new to Cox, but have seen in these forums that port forwarding in general is a problem. Texting with Cox on the subject immediately brought us a paid subscription to COX Complete Care. What I need to do I have done in the past with industry standard routers as standard features with the hardware. Note sure why Cox is different with the panoramic WiFi. I need to create two single port forwarding rules for an IP address of one of my devices. Public port to Private Port 21326 >> 8887 21325 >> 80 Can this be done without a subscription or do I need to replace the Cox WiFi box?2.4KViews0likes3CommentsDisabling Panoramic Wifi Advanced Security Sevice
Hi all, I'm setting up port forwarding to get remote access to a home desktop and have verified functionality by disabling the security service to allow port forwarding. Couple questions related to this - 1) What are the implications of disabling this service? The my-services-disabling page warns that you'll lose "24/7 threat monitoring and real-time reporting." Does this include IP-Reputation blocks or are those always made regardless? Any other valuable features besides the audit log (and stuff on https://www.cox.com/residential/support/cox-panoramic-wifi-app-advanced-security-service.html)? 2) Allow Access functionality - a) Can it be extended past 1 hr? If I were to able keep the security service on and allow access for a given IP for 1 business day (or even longer, really) it would be much more useful. b) Can you get faster access to notifications than is provided via the wifi.cox.com page? It seems hit or miss on how responsive it is. I haven't tried the mobile app yet; I try to keep as little on my phone as possible. 3) Bonus Question! I've noticed I can ssh into the machine even with the security service enabled for about 30sec before the pipe breaks. Any guesses? Not super important, but curious. Thanks in advance for any assistance!2.9KViews0likes3Comments
