Outlook / Cox Email Connection
Recently, every time Outlook does a send/receive of my email, it puts up a popup message requesting user name and password. Says it can't validate my information on the cox server. Even though this information is stored, and even when I check the box telling it to store the information, it continues to put up this annoying popup. I can log into webmail without issues and I can "repair" the account in outlook via the accounts and everything works fine (although outlook says Cox server has not encrypted connection, so it has to establish via unencrypted means)...I even get me test page sent to me. Then randomly, the messages begin to pop up again. Running windows 10 & Office 2013 on the same PC for several years now with no issues. This is irritating.959Views0likes1CommentOutlook unable to send emails
I am using Outlook 2013 on a Surface running Windows 10. The error message I get when testing send message is: Send test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). My Outlook email box is configured to use POP3 (port 110) and SMTP (port 25). My username and password are specified for both receiving and sending. When I use the same settings on my Sprint cell phone network, Outlook works just fine. I therefore assume this is a Cox configuration issue. If you need additional information, just ask, as I am in IT professional, and am willing to work with you to resolve this issue. Please advise.4.2KViews0likes6CommentsYour Mailbox Is Approaching Its Quota!!
I'm getting this message regularly. For some reason my folders in Outlook are synced to folders in Cox Mail. Whenever I intentionally save an email in an Outlook folder it saves it in Cox Mail. I do not want to delete these emails. They are important to me. I'm afraid if I delete emails from my Cox Mail folders they will also be deleted from my Outlook folders. How do I un-sync my Outlook from Cox Mail so I don't exceed my Cox Mail quota?2.1KViews0likes0CommentsCan't send e-mail using Outlook, Mail (OS10.11.6) or Mail (iOS)
Okay, please bear with me cause this post will be somewhat long. Problem in a nutshell: I haven't been able to send e-mails since June 1st, 2017. I've chatted online with two tech reps, and today I discussed the issue on the phone with a fellow named Ron. Here's some info from the second online chat: Dear Cox, I chatted with one of your tech reps yesterday regarding my inability to send e-mails. After a lot of back & forth re: making sure that I had the correct POP e-mail account settings, she eventually found out and then told me that Cox was in the process of updating their “e-mail platform,” and that I should try again in a few hours. Could you please update me re: the status of this; it’s a day later and I’m still unable to send e-mails. Here’s the background info re: my issue: I am currently not able to send outgoing mail, although I was able to send mail on May 30th. I’m using Outlook 2011 as my e-mail client. My OS is El Capitan 10.11.6. I’m able to receive messages. I believe I have the correct POP settings as specified on your website page “Cox Email Server Settings.” When attempting to send an e-mail I get the following error: fed1rmimpo209.cox.net cox connection refused from 68.6.118.7 It’s very strange that I was able to send e-mails up to May 30th, but not able to June 1st. Please advise and update; any assistance and new info would be greatly appreciated! After waiting a day with no feedback or resolution, I started another chat, opening dialog as follows: Hello, there’s been an ongoing problem with me not being able to send e-mails using Outlook 2011 on my Mac-Mini (El Capitan, 10.11.6). I’ve chatted with several people to date, and have confirmed that I have the correct POP settings for my Cox account. The last person I spoke with submitted a support ticket, and said I’d have a reply within 48 hours; the support ticket was issued on June 2nd and I have yet to hear from anyone, so I’m starting to get somewhat frustrated. I’d greatly appreciate if you could get me an update. The problem started on June 1st. I was able to send e-mails before that date without any problems. Please help! I was eventually told that the problem was with Cox's servers and that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours. 48 hours later, I'm still not able to send e-mails. So today, I called Cox and had a long discussion with the aforementioned Ron. We did a lot of tests, tried different port settings, etc. and he came to the conclusion that the problem was with my Outlook application (which I was doubtful of, but heck, I'm no techie). I decided to test Ron's theory and did a test run using my Mac's Mail Application, which to date I hadn't used. Not surprisingly, I was unable to send e-mails using Mac Mail either! Again, I tried various outgoing server settings, all with the same negative results. Just to take it one step further, I attempted to set up the Mail program on my iPad, which to date I'd never used. This also failed, giving me the following message: "The SMTP server "smtp.cox.net" is not responding; etc, etc. While doing all these tests I also performed extra steps like taking Outlook and Mail offline after making account changes, deleting outbox messages and creating new ones for testing, etc. Which leads me to the conclusion that there is indeed something wrong on Cox's end, as I was originally told during my second online chat. I'm hoping someone on this forum can provide some insight, as I'm going a bit crazy not being able to send e-mails, and Cox support has been useless to date. I may have to start using Cox's Web Mail application to send e-mails (which works) but I'd really prefer to use my desktop's Outlook application! Any help and insights will be greatly appreciated!! Forum: Internet Forum Posted: 19 Feb 2016 Post Subject: Email via Outlook and Droid Stopped Working Post author: Trebor My primary email addresses recently stopped working in Outlook and on my Droid phone. I have a few other Cox emails that continue working fine. All settings are exactly the same for each email. I've tried customer service, but all they do is reset my password and tell me that will fix it. Nothing is working. I can access my primary email through Cox Webmail with no problem, but I need access to it in Outlook and my phone. Is anyone else experiencing this?0Views0likes0CommentsWebMail
How can I transfer my Webmail folders to Outlook. So far the only solution I can find is to to mark the items as unread and then move them to the Inbox so they go to my Outlook inbox. Is there a way I can keep a folder intact and move it to Outlook? ...or download it so that I can move it to outlook?1.3KViews0likes1CommentPOP email stopped working with Outlook 2013
My POP email stopped working with Outlook 2013 on Friday morning, 8/19/2016. The Chat representative was unable to help me and set up a ticket. My gmail account is able to access the POP server. Anyone else having this problem? Cox has had problems with Outlook in the past, but I don't think it has taken this long to clear it up.2.1KViews0likes5CommentsOutlook 2010
Have changed password in cox. net and have access to everything except getting e-mails in Outlook. I know the new password works sense I have used it to access on webmail. Everytime I go into Outlook it keeps asking me to update my password which I have been doing but it won't take. What the H is up1.3KViews0likes1CommentOutlook
I really, really hate webmail. I'm in the process of moving and will need to change everything over to a cox server now. And I find I dislike the webmail service even more than my old IP. I'm trying to set up Outlook 2016 so that I can download my email and set up folder etc, like I use to be able to with the MS free mail client. I've done this before, I've had a Cox account before. It shouldn't be hard and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried setting the account up using IMAP and Using P, check the SSL box whatever it's called, for accessing with my security, and I get a failed message when it tries to authenticate. I did receive the test email.... but Outlook appears to not able to connect using IMAP or POP3. Am I being dense? Is a now a Cox issue using independent email clients? What can I do to fix it;.; Please use plain English and not techie talk. I understand using computers but get lost with a lot of techie vernacular... Thanks LyndaV1.9KViews0likes2Comments
