Upload fine at night, disaster during the day
For about a week now, my upload speeds have been absolutely terrible during the daytime.
I am a twitch affiliate and stream to twitch everyday. Recently, my OBS is showing my bitrate jump all around, I'm losing ridiculous amounts of frames due to network.. the thing is everything seems to work fine at night. But during the day, I can't keep my upload bitrate past 2-3mb, which won't cut it. I have been streaming just fine until a week or so ago when this started happening. There has been 2 major opportunities I had to miss because my stream would not be stable. It's not my hardware because it does work fine at night. I have unlimited data. Why on earth am I able to do this all night fine but all the sudden during the day time I lose my ability to keep a stable upload bitrate in OBS?
I've contacted customer support so many times. It's always the same trained response from them: let me reset your modem. I've already done that myself, and it doesn't fix it. A tech will just say it's fine because my Internet appears to be working but my OBS logs clearly tell another story. And ookla for some weird reason is the only speed test that shows decent numbers, while cloudflare and others show drastically different metrics.
Hi flambeau,
I can certainly understand how frustrating intermittent problems can be. I work from home, so I understand the importance of having a reliable connection. I agree resetting the modem is not always the answer, yet we want to help you find a resolution. Can you please provide us with a few trace routes to the site tonight? Be sure to send this data to us on Twitter at CoxHelp, on Facebook, or at cox.help@cox.com. We also need your account details so that we may check your modem diagnostics.
We look forward to working with you.
