Nightly scheduled maintenance daily
I used to get scheduled maintenance outages about 3 times a week. Usually around the same time at night. Now this week they are nightly in a row. I know it's not just me because my next door neighbor is having the same issues. Cox does not send a notification that this is happening. They just take internet down while watching a movie. My internet price just DOUBLED. This is the 2nd time it has doubled in the 3 years I have been at this address. Originally I was paying around 25.00/month which was a new customer discount (for lowest plan) - a year later it went up to 51.00/month when I lost that discount...please keep in mind I have the lowest plan possible and have not changed to a higher plan - my rate now will be around $105.00!!! More than double!!! How can that be? The guy on the phone said my "discount" expired....um, what discount?! Didn't that happen a couple years ago when I went from $25-$51? I also recently signed up for Cox cell - havent yet installed their sim chip yet and I am returning it. At the rate their internet services go up so drastically be weary of inexpensive cell service plans because it won't be inexpensive for long after they continue to double your rate for the same service. I live in West Phoenix and have been having intermittent Internet drops for the past 4 days. I did get a few messages saying service was down but then it was fixed and today it's dropped 2 times since this morning. I work from home so this is not good. Of course if you call them you get someone from India who doesn't know anything. This is very frustrating especially since I pay $250 a month for basic cable and internet service through Cox. I pay for the 1000mbps download speed. Here recently these past couple of days, my devices drop from the high speed of 800-1000mbps all the way down to 25-30mbps for periods of 1 min - multiple hours. Some devices are wired connection, others are wifi. The technician should be out in the next two days. Customer support seems unhelpful and not very easy to understand. I am having an issue with the time of updates. I was told that updates are scheduled to happen around 2 am. But over the past two weeks the updates are happening as early as 7 pm. I contacted tech support and was told that there was nothing they could do. As an apology for the hassle they gave me a credit for each day the updates occurred early in the evening. So...my question is...has anyone else experienced the same issue? And if it was resolved, how? 12/10/2024: Okay. This is getting ridiculous. This is the third night in a row that my contour box went out at 7:30 pm. Without advanced notice. And my updates are set to happen at 2 am. Last night when I try to reboot, I got an error message stating that Cox was performing maintenance and couldn't reboot. I tried emailing Cox support earlier this week per their direction to try to figure out what's going on but got no reply. In spite of all the hype about how good the Contour TV app is, I would like to know why it is worthless to me when I am out of town. The message I get from the app is that I have to be near my "home wi-fi" for it to work. Why bother to have it then? I cannot watch either live or recorded televisions shows once I leave my apartment or balcony. If anyone has a fix, I would like to know what it is. I I’ve been having a lot of problems with Cox service this weekend when you call in all they tell you is it your equipment and not on their side my friend lives right down the street. Why is Cox so terrible and unreliable at providing service? This company makes so much money off of all of us I just can't believe how negligent they are to their customer service base. No one ever has an explanation as to why the service is so spotty a lot of people work from home now I work from home 4 days out of the five and three of those days I have to go find reliable service in other places it's usually only one day out of the week that it's working for me.
