Las Vegas Internet is STILL down???

Hello everyone,

Im just tryn to get some information.  My internet is down and i wanna make sure its not my modem/router.

The website estimates the time to repair is 2 hours.  But its said that for 3 days now.  And the ourage map doesnt make sense.  It only shows my apartment complex with a pin. and its not an interactive map, its a picture of a map. Useless.

Is it just our apartments that are out?  Is it just me?  Is it just Las Vegas?  Whats an actual estimate to repair?  What is it thats wrong?

Please let me know.

J

I live on Jones and have been without service for a week already every time I ask for any type of help I get a generic answer saying there’s crews “working” but when I go walk my dog I see there’s no trucks or any one working on the wires on the floor NV energy left on Friday and it’s Monday and those wires are still in the floor. I lived in Pasadena during those fires we lost reception for less than a day and that was a natural disaster I just don’t understand why it would take this long I work from home and need my internet it’s just disheartening because literally no one helps

Hi, there. I'm so sorry for the outage and lack of information. Although outages are fluid and the information does change, please email the physical address and any other pertinent information to Cox.Help@cox.com with your name and a copy of this forum message. We would be glad to pass along whatever information we have to you.

The crews, like most people wanted the long holiday weekend off, they DIDN'T CARE about people like me and you and I'm sure others that make their living from the internet, they just wanted to drink beer and eat hot dogs off of a barbecue grill this weekend, and could care less about us with all their generic answers that they give us, I guess they swear that their customers are stupid. I'm out already $500 if not more and all I see is two guys drinking coffee blocking off the street, not working, drinking coffee

I’m having the same issue as well. I’ve seen NV Energy trucks lined up on jones/trop for a few days working on the power lines. And cox’s “updates” via text/email also provide 0 info. It’s a little ridiculous

If power lines are being worked on, it could be several issues.

      1. if Cox has to repair their cable wire, and it's on a pole where the electricity is being worked on, they are not allowed to do anything until the power company is finished,
      2. ALSO - if the power is out to their equipment due to the power company working on simething, that could be the cause as well.

Ok, thanks for that info.  That makes sense because all the trucks on Jones were NV Energy.

Btw, my power blinked off for a second, when this whole thing started.  Have not lost power since, just internet.

Im curious if a transformer blew and took out the cox lines?  Seems like a long time to change a trans tho...🤷‍♂️

Same here, I live on Harmon and Jones and we have been without cable and internet for four and a half days straight, every time you call them up they have no ETA on how long it's going to take and I work from the internet and I've been losing money hand over fist these laughs four and a half days, personally I think that the repairman took the holiday weekend off and that's why it's taking so long, how long does it take to change your Transformer out? How long does it take to put a down wire up, it sure to Hell doesn't take four and a half days, they took the long weekend and that's why this is taking so long it's either that or they don't know what they're doing one of the two

Coming up on a week for me with no end in sight.  No info, no response, no eta, no excuses.  Im shopping for another service.

I get that things break down, but being 100% blown off is infuriating.

Hopefully you are correct about their employees taking a long holiday weekend, but im not holding my breath.  Large companies can do whatever they want & dont need to make it right.

Jonsservice I know this has been frustrating. We don't want your service to be out any more than you do. I saw earlier in the thread the pole damage being worked on by NV Energy was mentioned. It's likely our lines are on those poles, which will need to be repaired before NV Energy will clear the area for other work. If our lines are fiber, the repairs may be more complicated than just hanging a wire. I apologize that more information isn't available. We often don't have detail, as there are many moving parts involved in the restoration efforts.
