E-mail Transition to Yahoo! is a Mess!
Received two e-mails about Cox's transition of my e-mail account to Yahoo. Last one received March 6th that included transition FAQs (very few). As I use Outlook to access my e-mail, I noted the statement that said if I use a third-party app to access my e-mail I'd receive a follow-on e-mail with instructions to reconfigure Outlook. Well today Outlook is being rejected by Cox servers, or lack of, and I don't have any instructions on configuring Outlook to access Yahoo! using POP. I've been in a chat with Cox for the last 45 minutes and the person on the other end is more confused than I am. 5 days no service, no updates.
I fully understand the unique circumstances involved here. It was an opportunity for Cox to raise their level of communication/service with at least the communication piece. Using Yahoo email in Mac OS mail app
I have created my Yahoo account in my Mac OS mail, but I can't seem to bring it online-attempts to change it from offline to online are futile. Anyone with a Mac able to help? I tried Yahoo chat, the AI bot is useless and if I want help from Yahoo I have to pay. I can't stand Yahoo in the browser. I can't see the text very well b/c my eyes are old now. The ads are annoying and I will drop Cox before I pay for Yahoo premium. We were looking for a reason to switch to the new Verizon 5g box. Might be now. Collecting the threads where people are saying they have ping and packet loss issues. Unlikely that this wide spread problem is caused by a "router", "signal issue" or "bent cables" (unless somehow everyone's cables got bent over night across the country? Santa Claus?) These problems are ranging from California to New Orleans, Arizona and Nevada between. I know these are unusual times but also sending technicians to check cables or trying to blame modems, house cabling for the issues doesn't help. What can you do: Install PingPlotter (14day trial) and start collecting data. 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 are Google's anycast DNS servers that should be optimized for latency. You could also try to ping cox.net, zoom.us, google.com or try to find your game server addresses. Try to collect several days of data to see how the service degrades in certain peak times Post the results here and email cox.help@cox.com with the data and your issues/location etc.See if you get an answer or anything helpful to address. In some cases they want to send technician over but if you already had technician check your signals or cables, it's likely not going to help If the problem persist, consider filing informal FCC complaint as azchips didon his case Cox, what can you do: Escalate these issues to your manager/director customer support who can then escalate it further, hopefully up to the CEO/whoever is the director of Cox Communication. Acknowledge that the issues exists and communicate to customers what is happening, what you plan to do and when. Email customers affected or post in this forums or on twitter. Launch your own investigation to the network look for bottlenecks, speed up your upgrade plans if you can. Even after this crisis, we are likely to see increase in businesses and consumers internet usage. Focus improving the latency in the overall network. This is what most people are complaining about it. Since affects how fast new connections open, dns requests get resolved, and providing good experience for applications that require stable and constant connectivity (video calls, ssh, gaming). Threads (most of these are from the last couple of weeks): I'm getting really tired of this. (Ping spikes and packet loss) Ping Spikes and Jitter Tired of Latency and Packet Loss High Jitter causing instability in voice programs along with games. High Packet Loss and High Max ping to first hop after cable modem - Mesa, AZ, Gigablast How many people on your Node? High ping and packet loss on Gigablast (San Diego) NV - Intermittent latency spikes and packet loss, mostly in the evening Extreme packet loss while gaming/voip (San Diego, CA) Abysmal Internet Random Ping Spikes and Packet Loss Excessively High Ping, Jitter, Intermittent packet loss, connection almost useless between 6-11pm Congestion and slowness during Community Peak, Cox blames modem, tries to rent new one. Ping spikes in North Las Vegas area Severe packet loss Tucson - Packetloss / jitter Packet loss/High latency Packet Loss, Gaming, VOIP problems Lag issues with Specific Server High Pings and Jitters along with Packet Loss High Latency, Packet Loss, and Slow Speeds Fortnite Packetloss High latency, terrible speeds. Packet Loss occuring many in evening times in New Orleans East area New Issue of the day with Continued Packet Loss and High Latency Horrible Intermittent Lag Spikes when online gaming High latency during online gaming. How to Use Cox e-mail Transitioned to Yahoo via Outlook ...
Just learned the details on how to do this - the instructions in e-mails we are getting are insufficient. Setting up yahoo account via link will only get you to the browser-based e-mail platform. This is required as the first step. Once this step is done, use these setting to set up Yahoo server in Outlook: POP access settings and instructions for Yahoo Mail | Yahoo Help - SLN4724 Old passwords will work using web-based Yahoo platform, but they will not work using outlook! New password is required to link Yahoo platform with Outlook - this is done this way: Open Yahoo page, and under Top Right-side point to You name letter next to e-mail icon and select Account - Overview Select Security - top 3rd from the left side. In the middle on the right side select: Generate and manage app passwords. Under App name enter Outlook. Yahoo will generate loooong password - Copy save it, as this will be the only time you will see it!! Paste this new password to Server Settings inside Outlook. This will link the outlook with Yahoo ... Constant outages
I am truly sick and tired of this company, the amount of “outages” and “maintenance” they have for relatively average internet is absolutely ridiculous. For the amount they charge and the amount of “maintenance” they seem to be doing i should have the best internet experience. instead im constantly coming home unable to do anything in my house related to internet that i pay for. god forbid my bill be late though, you’ll just interrupt my service. absolutely absurd, i’ll be switching immediately. suggest you all do the same, stay away.jaxxonortiz6 months agoNew Contributor627Views7likes17CommentsEmail transition forced upon us, is subjecting me to uninvited ads on the Yahoo mail app!
This email transition has opened the door for ads from Yahoo. The only way to stop them is to subscribe to Yahoo +, that has an additional cost. I have spent the entire morning, plus 3 phone calls, re "EMAIL transition". I have Outlook Cox email needing transition to Yahoo. Online discussions/Reddit, etc. states Yahoo does not accept Outlook transition. I also see some customers after much time/effort were able to do this. Customer service could not complete transition to Yahoo from Outlook (rep did try with no success), but suggested for $10 mo for Cox Help they could help me. This is the LAST STRAW....I have been a customer of Cox for 30 years with many ups/downs.....however, this EMAIL TRANSITION is a disaster. I can now only access my email thru the Cox email web; Outlook email does not work at all.
