Gigabit Speed Only on Speedtest.net
Hello there! As the title states, I only see Gigabit speeds on speedtest.net. Any other download or speed test tops out around 550mbps-600mbps. If I turn on a VPN through WireGuard, I get the full gigabit speeds on those same speedtests that only provided 500mbps just a minute before. It seems a lot like aggressive traffic shaping, though I'm thankful that my VPN, which shows up at 'other' in my bandwidth usage, appears to get the same priority as speedtest.net. Maybe because they can't identify the traffic, it bypasses the QoS rules? Does anyone else experience this? This wouldn't be a provisioning issue is it? I am in Ocala, FL.NuclearRat2 days agoNew Contributor23Views0likes0CommentsNew Yahoo Mail
New Yahoo Mail is available by clicking the "Try the new Yahoo Mail" button in the upper right. Here are a few things you may want to know. Settings are no longer accessed from a gear box icon in the upper right. Scroll to the bottom of folders and click the three dots in the lower left corner of Inbox. Select "Settings from the menu list. By default, inbox messages are separated into five, tab categories. To sort all messages together, select "Personalize inbox" from the Settings menu and turn off "Inbox categories". Messages can be scheduled to send later. After drafting a message, select the down arrow on the Send button at the bottom and select the time the message should be sent. Messages that have been scheduled to be sent may be viewed by selecting "Scheduled" from the Settings menu. A verification prompt is displayed when deleting messages but deleted messages don't go to "Trash". You may switch back to the old Yahoo Mail (for now) by selecting "Switch to Old Yahoo Mail" in Settings. The uBlock Origin browser extension successfully blocks all ads in MS Edge.CurtB2 days agoHonored Contributor41Views0likes0CommentsPhoenix area so called unplanned outage!
What is the deal with all of the unplanned outages at around the same time in the morning? I find it hard to believe that they are unplanned outages, more like planned during a time of less impact, or customer complaints. I just spent nearly an hour on a live chat with Cox while he couldn't connect to my equipment and started wanting to schedule a technician, during this time I couldn't get into either one of my Cox apps and I was told that there were no outages. Finally I got through to one of my apps and it said that there experiencing an unplanned outage. And I told the guy on chat and he took a while to respond and said yes they just updated the system and it showed an outage. So it takes them nearly an hour to discover an outage? This is getting ridiculous and I am now getting a third credit in my bill for outages. I can't afford Cox to begin with but nothing else is available where I live which should be illegal. But I would suggest to everyone out there to let them know when you have an outage you want some money back from your bill.jerjazjen23 days agoNew Contributor64Views0likes0CommentsSpam? Block Works!
I set Spam? blocker to block all (high, medium, & low) which is working. Thank-you. My call history shows that of the 32 robocalls received in the last 30 days, 21 were blocked. And for some reason, the total calls have dropped 62%, from 85 a month last year. Has someone in the world-wide telephone system found a way to block a lot of them at their source or am I just in a lucky streak?MasterMyDomain25 days agoContributor II20Views0likes0CommentsCox AUP Now Permits WFH
Greetings, When when we work from home in 2020 beginning in May, We reviewed the AUP for residential Cox home internet. It did not appear to contain an allowance for telecommuting, also known as work from home. However we reviewed todday, Feb. 25, '25: 4. Commercial Use. The Service is designed for personal, residential, non-business-related use of the Internet and may not be used for commercial purposes (except for reasonable residential applications such as telecommuting, online education, and the like). You may not resell the Service or otherwise make the Service available for use to persons outside your dwelling (for example, through an open wireless home network). You agree not to use the Service for operation as a de facto Internet service provider, or for any other business enterprise (whether for profit or non-profit), including, without limitation, IP address translation or similar facilities intended to provide additional access. For commercial Internet service please contact Cox Business. IANAL (AM NOT A LAWYER), but it looks like anyone wishing to work for a company, example on a W-4 or 1099 basis is free to telecommute and work from home as a quote reasonable quote application considered by Cox communications. It still does not appear that someone running an Etsy store, or eBay or you know Amazon sort of reseller from their garage, or social media content creator, influencer or semicolon for example. I'm not clear whether those would be some sort of acceptable telecommuting employment. (They once inquired about a Cox Business connection and they will need you to confirm a valid Business License.) In the commercials and marketing materials for Cox Communications home internet, the family is always depicted at leisure, enjoying their recreation, and definitely not doing any banking, tax filings, or healthcare or religious practice, participation. It's more like video gaming and planning parties. We're relieved to know that telecommuting is perfectly reasonable and available to us next time our job sends us to work from home! Thank you Cox Communications for the clarity!Anesti332 months agoContributor27Views0likes0Comments- Brain013 months agoContributor11Views0likes0Comments

A reply is not a discussion
So, I registered a complaint about service downtime and its impact on students around Arizona State University. A moderator responded to my complaint and said all the right things that sometimes these thing are un aviodable, etc, etc ... But turned off replies in the discussion. Rhetoric does not resolve the issue. I would like to understand that steps are in place to improve service. I am concerned about the overall number of outages and the duration of those outages. I am frustrated by the overall downtime. I am not a cable logistics or infrastructure expert. But if I were a cable provider I would have several experts to understand how to minimize downtime of service. I am only on the recieving end, and I feel that Cox can do a better job to minimize interuptions to service.Dean604 months agoNew Contributor48Views0likes0CommentsNext-Gen Cloud TV. Recordings deleted soon.
So I heard on this forum from a moderator that: "We will be moving to a new vendor for our cloud DVR platform as of December 11, 2024". Then I saw this post on Reddit that said they(customer) received a notification that recordings will be deleted when moved to the new system, however the mods deleted the post for being off topic. Last, I saw this post on DSLReports that points to the new system Comcast is rolling out and they are licensing it to Cox. So still not sure how the new system will work, but FYI, changes are coming. Back up any important recordings onto a analog copy if possible. They will be deleted by next month.WiderMouthOpen5 months agoEsteemed Contributor II257Views0likes0Comments
