Xbox One Streaming Contour
I use an Xbox One as my primary means of home entertainment and streaming. I recently downgraded my service to internet only in addition to a contour streaming service (so no TV box needed). However, the Contour App only seems available to download on a phone or tablet. While these are great options, it seems like Cox is missing it's primary mission which is to allow people to stream directly to their living room TV via gaming consoles or dedicated platforms like Apple TV or Roku. Does Cox have any plans to roll out an app that will allow customers to stream Contour to gaming devices in the near future? With so many other streaming options such as Sling or Hulu, this would be a powerful tool to retain loyal customers.17KViews0likes4CommentsWhy aren't all episodes On Demand
My DVR dies last week, and you can not transfer shows to the new DVR (even though chat HELP will tell you differently which is a whole separate issue) So to catch up on the 70% full hard drive I lost, I have to watch my shows On Demand. Except not all shows have all episodes On Demand. For example Jane the Virgin - only has the last few episodes (but whole seasons before) Lethal Weapon has 1- 9 and 14-18 The list goes on and on. Can you explain the logic here?15KViews0likes6CommentsContour 2 scheduled series recordings fail to record
Greetings . . This problem has been recurring since January. I have called at least 5 times, but still don't have resolution. Hard drive was less that 25% full, power cycling the DVR does nothing to correct the problem, even though one support person suggested the resolution would be to manually power cycle the DVR at least once a day. Here is the scenario: go to the guide and find a show to record -- say "BULL". select that item and click the record button choose to record ALL, then just new Now when the time comes for BULL to start, the DVR appropriately indicates the recording has started (front panel red LED lights), and if I go to Contour-->SAVED, the row for BULL indicates it is being recorded. It also shows as recording on the SCHEDULED page. Now wait 15 minutes or45 minutes - it doesn't matter - and try to play back the recording of BULL FAIL - - a dialog appears stating there is a problem with this recording and it cannot be played. It also states that BULL is playing again on <date> (where the <date> is the current date) would you like to record it then?. There are two options OK and CANCEL CASE 1 OK:The recording picks up at that point and successfully completes even if there is only one minute left of the program. Note that if the record time has passed you don't get this option in the dialog CASE 2 CANCEL: The DVR stops indicating the a program is recording and an entry remains in the SAVED list. However, if the schedule time has passed, you don't get a cancel option The next morning the bad recording has disappeared from the list As I said, I have called multiple times over the last 6 weeks with no resolution. Three calls ago the support group decided to replace the Contour box - which they did. The tech did all the standard checks. All the levels were goo and he could find no condition on our drop that might cause the problem. All the old scheduled recording items automatically updated to the new DVR upon activation AND all the scheduled programs properly recorded and could be played back in their entirety ----- for one night, the same night that the DVR was replaced. The next night ALL recordings failed again. I called Cox Support again. This time the support person suggested I delete and recreate all the scheduled items - - i did so and everything worked again --- for one night. He also forwarded the support tickets (7521244, 7676652) to another level but three days later I still haven't heard back. Last night some more of the scheduled recordings failed once again and I called support once again, but didn't get any new information they offered to send a tech out again, but after reading the last tech's comments we agreed that would likely not be beneficial. However, the support person was professional and expressed a desire to help. I don't have any issue with any of the folks that I talk to when I call support, but they are pretty limited in what they can do for this problem and the back end guys are pretty busy - i guess - But as a customer this is pretty frustrating - -I have been with Cox since 1979 and have NEVER had a problem drag on like this. We had one problem where 300 feet of cable from the street drop had to be replaced - -- that only took a week. Help12KViews0likes4CommentsContour 2 - it thinks I'm not connected to my home wi-fi network
I recently installed the Contour 2 on my iPad at home and used it to watch TV shows. I tried to use it again today but it tells me that I cannot because I am not connected to my home wi-fi network even though I am. I have tried rebooting the iPad, reinstalling the app and deleting and recreating the household account settings but nothing works. Equally frustrating is the fact that no one in Cox tech support knows anything about the app. They're not even sure if the problem falls under "Internet" or "TV". Any help would be greatly appreciated.9.5KViews0likes2CommentsAuto-Tune to HD doesn’t work
I do not know when this tatted, but relatively recently, my contour cable has stopped auto/tuning to HD. I knew about the setting and it randomly disappeared, I was looking for it because I was trying to turn it back on because I assumed it was turned off. I searched it up and learned they renamed it to “Prefer Best Available Resolution”, I checked the setting and it had been on the whole time but it still doesn’t work. An example of this is when I use voice commands to say a channel name, and it will take me to the standard definition version instead of the high definition version (i.e. saying “TV Land” will take me to Channel 58, not Channel 1058). When it automatically went to the HD Channel variant, it used to also say “auto tuning to HD Channel” or something similar to that. Another example is when I’m trying to look at a TV show to see if it’s on currently, and if I click “watch” it takes me to the standard definition channel (i.e. If I click “watch” so I can watch Seinfeld on TBS, it shows channel 49, not 1049. One thing I also just noticed is that it says “49 TBSHDP”, which I always assumed that the HD was meant to represent “Hight Definition”, but if 49 is high definition, then what is the point of 1049? Restarting my cable doesn’t work.9.1KViews0likes11CommentsContour 2 manual recording/ extended recording
Can't find any way to set a manual recording on Contour 2. For example, today NBC rescheduled the Formula One race to a different channel, then re-scheduled what was on that channel to another channel. Wanted to record what is a 3 hour sporting event, but can't find a way to specify "record a channel at this day, beginning at this time, ending at this time" Doesn't seem to exist. It was available on Contour. If it isn't on Contour 2, seems like a silly "takeaway" that should be fixed ASAP Other than manually finding all the half hour programs and setting RECORD for everything in the specified time range, i can't find a way! Also, it would be nice to be able to extend a recording more than 30 minutes. Many times, events cause a sporting event to run over, and allowing a 2 or 3 hour extension used to be possible, but apparently is no longer? That should be fixed, too. Sporting events often run more than 30 minutes over!! Anyone figured out how to manually set a recording???8.3KViews0likes8CommentsRecord 6 DVR Simultaneous Recording
I have the Contour record 6 Cisco Explorer 9865HDC DVR and three client boxes, I believe they are Pace XiD HD models. The problem is, each client box uses one of the tuners on the record 6 DVR, no matter if the client box is actively viewing content or not. This means that if three shows are simultaneously recording on the DVR, you can not watch live TV using the record 6 DVR. The system prompts you to disable one of the currently recording programs in order to view live TV. On the previous Contour system there was a menu option to disable buffering on the client boxes, which freed up the tuner. On the new Contour system, I can not find this setting. Is there a fix for this annoying problem?8KViews0likes10CommentsXR-11-RF remote not working properly
About 80% of button presses don't work. The remote LED blinks green then red along with the fact that the button presses do nothing. The green then red blink indicates that the RF signal is not being received by the DVR. Had a technician come by to investigate the problem. He replaced the DVR and remote. The problem actually got worse. I unpaired then repaired the remote and removed the batteries but it did not fix the problem. The system was originally installed 3 weeks ago. The battery is at 90%. Nothing seems to fix the problem and Cox is not able to fix the problem with their equipment. Very troubling that Cox can't fix this problem. Any help would he appreciated.7.9KViews0likes1CommentCountour 2 Remote won't Pair with Samsung Soundbar
I have a new LG television and used my Cox Contour 2 remote to turn the TV on and off. No problems. However, when I went to control the Samsung Soundbar, which is about 5 years old, HW-J450, the remote would not pair. I searched several different sites for additional codes, no luck. I tried 31495, 32660, 31868, 32137, 31304, 32609, 22609, 31949, 21014, 20045. None of the codes would work. Any suggestions? I have the Samsung Soundbar in the "optical" output from the LG television. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hate to use a seperate remote to turn off and on the Soundbar. thanks5.8KViews0likes7Comments
