Contour 2 manual recording/ extended recording

Can't find any way to set a manual recording on Contour 2. For example, today NBC rescheduled the Formula One race to a different channel, then re-scheduled what was on that channel to another channel. Wanted to record what is a 3 hour sporting event, but can't find a way to specify "record a channel at this day, beginning at this time, ending at this time"  Doesn't seem to exist. It was available on Contour. If it isn't on Contour 2, seems like a silly "takeaway" that should be fixed ASAP

Other than manually finding all the half hour programs and setting RECORD for everything in the specified time range, i can't find a way!

Also, it would be nice to be able to extend a recording more than 30 minutes. Many times, events cause a sporting event to run over, and allowing a 2 or 3 hour extension used to be possible, but apparently is no longer? That should be fixed, too. Sporting events often run more than 30 minutes over!!

Anyone figured out how to manually set a recording???

We've also noticed that we have not been able to schedule the Formula One season on NBC/CNBC/NBCSN (practice and races) like we could on the original Contour.  We suspect it's due to the naming of the races.

  • Hi Al1,

Contour 2 does not allow you to set a manual recording as you described. We're hoping this will be added in a future update.

Contour 2 has a recording feature called "auto-extend" that is very handy when recording sporting events. Auto-extend automatically continues recording if the event goes into overtime or extra innings. The Record Options End-time is preset to Auto Extend for MLB, NBA, and NFL games, as well as select professional soccer league matches. You can set the End-time manually via the Record Options.

  • Hi Michiyama,

I agree; I've noticed the same issue with the naming of golf events. Our video engineers are working to improve naming consistency!

Hopefully, they can add the same auto-extend feature to car races, too ( Formula 0ne, Indy car racing, Nascar, etc.) many times rain delays cause it to run over much more than 30 minutes allowed without auto-extend.

    thx for the reply.

  • Al1,

We appreciate the idea and feedback to The New Contour DVR functions and settings. Thank you!

As I understand from the Contour documentation, the auto extend feature depends on the actual broadcast network to "flip a switch" to enable the extension. Currently, the safest procedure is to record the show(s) following a live sports event, the DVR should have space.

That is not true. if you use the Contour 2 voice function to select your show and then choose record it will allow you the option to change the stop time to

    1 minute late

    5 minutes late

    30 minutes late

I would think a Cox employee would know this

  • Hi Limostar,

The original poster was looking for a way to set a manual recording, and stated a way to specify "record a channel at this day, beginning at this timeending at this time".  Using my Rovi DVR, I can record a specific channel independent of the Guide grid schedule. For example, I can program my DVR to record from 11:17am to 11:56am. This functionality is not yet available on the new Contour platform.
