Same problem as many "Warning (5) Dynamic Range Window violation"

I have been dealing with internet speed issues for about a year now. I was told my modem was bad replaced that, I was told it was a problem with the cabling in the house (not covered) I installed a new homerun to the termination outside, then it was I was maxing my bandwidth so I upgraded to gigabit, then the cable again (replaced again) now I am being told the modem is bad again.

modems used: ARRIS SURFboard SBG6782-AC DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem and AC1750 Wi-Fi Router > Motorola 16x4 Cable Modem, Model MB7420, 686 Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 > NETGEAR Cable Modem CM600

Current setup:

Modem: MOTOROLA MB8600 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem

Router: Netgear Nighthawk R7960P Firmware Version V1.4.1.50_1.3.10

Any help is appreciated and welcome, anything other than its a bad modem or coax.

  • The DRW violations are the least of your worries. You have major ingress on the 900 MHz ISM band (902 - 927 MHz) and moderate ingress on the lower band (300 - 450 MHz) as shown by the number of uncorrectable codewords on those channels. It's caused your modem to lose partial service at least once as shown by the CM-STATUS event code 2 (QAM/FEC lock failure) and it's probably happened a lot more than that. If you've replaced your interior coax with brand new high quality RG6 then the problem lies outside of your home and maybe off of your property. Only a Cox technician can identify and fix that type of problem.

I know automotive electrical diagnostics and basic electronics. I got the cable from the same place most others get there's Amazon. Had good reviews and some reviewers said they were network engineers.

The only thing that will help is a new internet service. Cox does not help their customers they just take your money .

  • @Whyme, It looks like your modem was reporting some issues on the 29th. I was able to also find some time out errors as well. However, I am no longer seeing any time out errors since. Are you still experiencing issues with the service? -Allan, Cox Support Forums Moderator.

What is your Mbps speed from your router via ethernet and your WiFi speed standing next to your router (both 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz)?

What is the speed you are paying for?

I run my speed tests from a wired (Cat7) computer.

Speeds fluctuate 900+ to 350 down, 0-30 up
