I cannot access Government Website from my home modem but I can from my business modem. Why? I meant modem. Sorry

reemployct.dol.ct.gov

I cannot access this from home. I can access anything and everything else. Just not this one web site. It was firewalled by COX for the business too (all which was confirmed to have happened after a last major hack). Anyways, COX support un firewalled this site from my business router but claims they couldn't for my personal router because its dynamic?

Can you please help me once and for figure out why I was always able to access the site above but once the hack happened, I can no longer access the government website from my personal router? I have no firewall settings that indicate the site is blocked on my end.

Regards,

mattysly

What error do you get when trying to access the site? What model business router and home router do you have? First thing that comes to mind is a DNS issue. Have you tried changing your DNS to Google DNS or some other alternate DNS?

just times out. Again cox support varified the firewall but said they could do nothing about it due to a dynamic ip

What firewall? Advanced Security? What model modem and router do you have? Did you mean modem/router gateway?

::edit:: AFAIK firewalls only block ports not websites.

  • Works fine on cox in Omaha I would suggest bypassing the router checking hosts file

Are both of these routers connected to the same modem, at the same time? What kind of router is the personal router?
