yes it is relevant. just like my older dell laptops that also have the bgn capability, they don't connect to the pano unit.
i just connected an even older iphone4, which won't connect to the pano unit but connects to the older router like the dell laptops.
this goes back to my 1st comment to the op...GET A NEW PHONE!!
I believe you inadvertently proved my point.
First, swapping a router isn't tech support. It's just a luck-of-the-draw...or swaptronics. You're returning a scribbled-in schoolbook in hopes the teacher will issue you a less scribbled-in one. Panoramic has its limitation because it doesn't allow you tweak fundamental settings to optimize your wireless environment. Is it true there is no QoS in Panoramic? What choices of channel width do you get with Panoramic? Why isn't Panoramic compatible with older devices?
I don't think you understand protocols. All current versions...HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, UHD...are backward compatible with previous versions. In particular, an ac-router is backward compatible with a g-device as well as an ac-device is backward compatible with a g-router. However, in Panoland, there is some law banning this compatibility. If you bought a regular ac-router, it'd connect your Dells.
no, you missed the point, older phones aren't always backward compatible with some newer technology, even though they appear to have protocols required.
you missed the point again, if pano unit doesn't function correctly, i don't need tech support, just equipment swap. i also realize there's no tweaking of pano unit.
i'm terribly happy to be getting 500+ dl speeds on cell phones, where i spend most of my time.
this is about the only site i go to with pc, to be able to type long replies with a bigger keyboard.
i don't know why pano unit doesn't work with older devices + i don't care.my workaround with the 2nd router gets the job done.

I hope you're not referring to Panoramic. Panoramic is limited technology.

+ i love hearing you tell so many how much better their life will be when they buy new equipment they can't support by themselves.
How much better would your life be if you didn't need a second router to connect your Dells because Pano can't connect 'em? Who is your tech support for this second router? You troubleshoot this segment of your LAN
If Pano forces you to install a second router to connect your older devices, why not just replace Pano with your own router to connect all your devices? Why are you renting Pano if it can't do what you need?
If you...or anybody...need to support a second router to connect older devices, I think life would be easier to just provide their own support for ONE router.
i use the laptop once a week, for family zoom.
me, i've had this 2nd router since '09, when it was the only router.
life is fine, laptop is on 24/7, all i need to do is plug in the router when needed.
Why not just connect your Dell to the Pano? Oh, wait...that's right...Pano is too advanced for 802.11g/n. My bad.
Jeepers...if only a rogue manufacturer would make an ac-router backward-compatible with 802.11b/g/n. Happy Renting, camper!

There is no "new b/g/n" protocol. It's an IEEE standard. It's either 802.11b/g/n or it's not. There is nothing wrong with the NIC in your Dells. Most 2.4 GHz cards don't negotiate channel width...some do; some don't...but it's pointless to negotiate, so I think channel width may be the limitation of Pano.
