Worst Upload Speeds of any provider
How is it that Cox charges the most for the Gig speeds and has the slowest up / down speeds in comparison. Cox says 940 down and 35 up all for the price of $120 + extra for unlimited data and panoramic wifi ATT says 940 down and 880 up for $60 Google 1 gig has 940 down 940 up with whole home wifi and no data caps for $70 Google 2 Gig says 2 gig down and 1 gig up withWi-Fi 6 multi-gig router and tri-band Mesh Extender included also no data caps included for $100 Xfinity offers 1.2gigbut says 940 down and 35 up for $100 Verizon Fios says 940 down and 880 up for $75 When is cox going to start offeringbetter uploads speeds like their competitors or if you are unable to provide the same service as your competitors then you should lower you service cost to atleast match the competition.Does Cox artificially favor Speed-Tests? I am on the Internet Preferred 150 plan, and in the last few months I've been having issues with my transfer speeds. Based on my plan, I should be getting 150 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up, and results from speedtest.com or fast.com always show my connection meeting or exceeding those transfer rates with speeds around 175 down and 10.5 up on average. The problem is that these speeds are not holding up under sustained real-world loads, particularly on the Upstream side. I operate a Plex Media Server in my home and routinely stream from it throughout the day. In the past I was able to reliably stream at 8 Mbps, but in the last couple of months I have had severe buffering issues and had to bump down to 4 Mbps or less to get a stable stream. I have backed this up with a series of iperf3 tests, all of which show an initial transfer speed of 10 Mbps, which almost immediately drops to 4-4.5 Mbps after about a second of testing. Regular large transfers to other cloud storage services tell a similar story. For the record, I disconnected my router and did a wired test with my laptop connected directly to the modem, which did show an overall increase to 5-5.5 Mbps in iPerf3, but that is still well below the service I pay for. Unless there is a problem with my modem (it has not given me any noteworthy trouble to date), I can't think of any hardware bottlenecks on my end that would limit my speeds, so it really feels like Cox is under-delivering my internet service and masking it by prioritizing speed test traffic.
What am I paying for exactly?
I'm in New Orleans. I got duped into upgrading to Gigablast almost a year ago, because I live stream for work, and I was told what I had (500), wasn't good enough (in actuality, I needed to upgrade my equipment. I did that, and I got Gigablast, and I have the same quality internet as before. I just pay more for it.) A technician has come, a new modem was sent, I have the best cables, I connect via ethernet, and make sure everything that could compete with the internet while I'm working, won't. Sometimes it's great. Mostly it's not. I KNOW it's not me. Customer service is kind and apologetic, even when I'm in tears from losing days of work, and therefore can't afford the stupid upgrade I got hosed into getting. Now there are add-ons that are meant to do help do what their service should do already. I can't understand how Cox hasn't been struck by lighning for having the audacity to offer. My fury can be seen from space. I know there are no real solutions. AT&T fiber is only available to certain neighborhoods in New Orleans so far. I know everyone in my neighborhood will jump ship the second it's available. I guess my question is, are there any class action lawsuits on the horizonthat can jump on?Horrible Packet Loss
I don't even know where to begin..... So I've been having internet issues ever since I changed addresses in Las Vegas. I've had several techs come out, there has supposedly been a node split in my area, I've replaced all of my equipment, and had my home certified by a Cox technician via an FCC complaint. So I am not alone who is getting slow speeds with Gigablast.... So i ask the moderators of this forum, when will we get the speeds of Gigablast? I have been paying for over a year and last September 2020 when the schools started online, my speed has not reached a gig barely 700 mostly <500. Do I need to make a complaint to the FCC because I'm paying a lot for my internet and with no resolve or compensation or credit. I feel like I'm getting robbed here. With the pandemic money does not come easy to make ends meet. I am sure management knows about this issue and has done absolutely nothing to resolve this among the dozens of customers on this forum reporting the same issue as I. The techs have no clue what's wrong. They waste their time coming out.Why am I only getting around 16 Mbps on my 50 Mbps plan? Using SB 6141 modem and Linksys EA6900 Router. Title. I pay $100/month for 150 Mbps but never does it get any higher than 25, no matter when I speed test it. I connect straight to the modem via ethernet and can have no other devices and Since my current plan is "up to" 150 mpbs but Cox refuses to provide service close to that, can I just downgrade to the 50 Mbps plan without any change in service, or will they just throttle my internet even more?
Upload speed much slower than advertised
My plan has 1MBPS upload, but I only get 10~15% of that. I'm looking at activity monitor right now (As I'm uploading a file), and I see 0.127 MBPS. Funny thing is that when I try the Cox speed test, suddenly my upload rate jumps up to the advertised amount. So I'm sure the issue is not on my hardware. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
