Does COX offer 2Gig UPLOAD AND DOWNLOAD?
I just ended a three-hour-long customer support conversation with Cox technical support and their sales team. To sum it up, two reps stated the address I am wanting service at has 2Gig Fiber internet, and one rep says I have 2Gig COAX internet. The key difference between the two is that one CAN support 2Gig upload and download speeds, while the other cannot or is simply throttled to not. Can anyone give me a clear answer as to what my expected upload speeds will be at my address? Am I just wrong in that 2Gig COAX can support 2Gig upload? I always thought Fiber was the means of reaching more than the marketed rate of 100 Mbps upload. To make matters more confusing, COX says I have "Fiber Powered" internet at my location, but I have a very suspicious feeling this is not true since a representative was asking me if I had a DOCSIS modem to use with their service. DOCSIS uses COAX, not WAN/LAN RJ45, coming from a Fiber ONT box. Someone, please tell me what I need to do. I am happy to share my address to verify Fiber connectivity at home. I just want to know which agent was correct on the call.
Upgraded to GIGA plus fiber now speed is 10x worse? any suggestions
We upgraded to Gigablast plus fiber with speed listed as 1000/2000. We are actually get 93 on a good day and 11 or even 7 .. Was told its not the equipment, and not the install, but no solution. Anyone else have this issue? and do you have any tips as COX keeps running us in circles and everytime we ask for help the speed gets worse.
Docsis 3.1 Upload Speed
Will Cox ever be able to take full advantage of Docsis 3.1 in terms of Upload speed? Will we ever have symmetrical? I'm seriously considering basing my home purchase on the availability of fiber internet (which is also abysmal in the Phoenix, AZ area between both providers) because I have serious doubts Cox will ever deliver. My internet bill (gigablast and unlimited data) is my 2nd highest monthly expense and I just don't feel I get my money's worth.
Personal router with fiber Gigablast?
We're currently using a Cox-provided Technicolor CGM4140COM. It performs well enough, but we'd like to have finer control over our network and I have a Netgear router that I can configure for the job. We've got a plain RJ45 link to the ONT, and near as I can tell the provided gateway isn't doing any special dance to connect, just DHCP. Is this as simple as removing the Panoramic from the equation and plugging in the Netgear?
