Consistent Packet loss (25% or more) for six months, extremely disappointed
I am not one to complain but I feel I must make this post for other cox users experiencing the same frustration. For six months straight I cannot stream video *upload or play games consistently on a gigabit ethernet connection. I have replaced all my equipment (modem, router, switches, cable runs) and had 6 different techs to investigate the issue and I still experience this problem every day and it only gets worse. I was recently told it was an issue with the Node and that it was a known issue that has been reported multiple times. I have been told to wait for them to fix it and I feel like there is nothing I can do anymore. Every time I call retention to get my bill reduced for the issue I am met with denial and impatience. All I want to do is simply pay for a good internet connection but since COX has a monopoly in my area have no choice but to be at their whim. All but one tech that has came out has shown any sort of care for my issue while the rest have said they would escalate my issue for me to find out no notes were left on my account and I have to start the process over again and again. COX is hands down the worst internet provider I have ever been a customer of and I really use to love this company which at the point is just embarrassing to even say. The service up to this point is unacceptable and goes to show what happens when you do not need to compete for customers. I will be filing an FCC report and at this point if the problem is not resolved this month I will be using a cellular router with a data plan because that unfortunately looks like it will be the better option at this point. For any cox techs that reply to help me I already have open tickets regarding this case.3.1KViews2likes13CommentsArris SB8200 Docsis 3.1 GigaBlast No Blue Lights Up or Down
Called Cox for new internet options. Told me I was grandfathered in at 150. Quoted me 300 and Giga. Call ended. I had a Netgear 3.0 modem / router combo that worked fine. I buy a 3.0 modem and a mesh router to increase my WIFI area. I try to get it calibrated only to find out I have a work order for GigaBlast speeds and my 3.0 equipment is unusable. So as a patient person I go and swap my 3.0 for a 3.1 modem costing me more money. I call to get the 3.1 calibrated by Cox and it shows all green lights 3.0, no blue lights for Arris SB8200 Docsis 3.1 GigaBlast No Blue Lights Up or Down. Speeds are 250 down and 20 up and that is before and after a modem factory reset with ONLY my laptop plugged in. Tried with a desktop as well with the same result. - Called and asked was GiagBlast and Docsis 3.1 avilable in my area and told it was - Forced to GigaBlast without request and told I can't return to my original speed - Asked me to upgrade my equipment to take advantage of GigaBlast but when equipment is installed it I only get 3.0 and low speeds - Called from 10am to Midnight and text chat too. After dealing with 6 different people and a whole day wasted I still got nowhere - Best of all I was told no work could be done while there was an "outage" in my area. One that lasted from 2pm to 7pm, and then another that started at 12am forecast to end at 6am. Anybody else have these issues and if so how were they resolved??? - Do yourself a favor and DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT engage in the text chat option from your phone. A waste of time and resources!!!! Similar situations like mine so I know I am not alone when it comes to the level of customer service andtechnical support https://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/internet-forum/22627/gigablast-activation/86619#86619 https://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/internet-forum/20283/issues-with-gigablast Standard Specification Compliant Docsis 3.1 Hardware Version 4 Software Version D31CM-PEREGRINE-1.1.1.0-GA-14-NOSH Connection The status listed show the connection state of the cable modem. Recently I received an email that gigablast (Docsis 3.1 version) is available in my area. I called and scheduled an appointment for install. I made sure to tell them that today I have ultimate plan with 2 extenders (6,500 square foot house) and that I will need 2 or even 3 extenders with gigablast. I was not told that there would be any problems with this. I called again midweek to verify that extenders will be brought to the install. On the day of the install this past Saturday I was called by the technician and told that extenders for docsis 3.1 were not available and that due to this install couldn’t proceed with guarantees for full house coverage. My questions for Cox: 1. Do you educate your workforce on what is or isn’t available? 2. Why do you claim whole house coverage when this is a lie? 3. What is panoramic if not just an attempt to mislead users into believing that you have service that you actually don’t?1.9KViews1like2CommentsPacket loss making games unplayable
Ping Plotter Blizzard World Of Warcraft East Coast Server IP Ping Plotter Google.com Ping Plotter 4.2.2.2 Ping Plotter Open DNS IP Ping Plotter www.Pingplotter.com I have had a technician come to my house and using his tool says he gets all green lights from my drop out. I have had Blizzard assure me their servers are fine but after taking a look at this ping plotter you can clearly see intermittent packet loss. So at the time the tech tested it was likely fine. Ping Plotter shows results over a ten min test and the random drops are more apparent. This is gigabit speed that is sorta new to my area and I feel like it costs me a lot to have, I am very happy with it. Until I want to game online or stay connected to something. I get enough packet loss/jitter to cause a disconnect. Sometimes its short enough that it corrects in game and I just get a rubberband like effect. sometimes its enough to cause the game to kick me. sometimes it just freezes the game and while i am disconnected from their server i can still walk around but not actually do anything in game. interact with characters, cast spells, etc. I would really love some help with this problem! I have tried so many things ruling things out to come to this point. Even as I type this I keep getting notifications at the top right of this website telling my I have 'successfully reconnected'. I need someone to take a look at these links and help to fix this Anyone else that looks will not be able to see these issues with they way they are testing it. I am not sure what else to do but reach out to the forums as home techs and tech support phone calls don't see this problem and assure me everything is fine. but its not fine. not at all. every web site i try to ping for some time shows the same results. 0 issues from my computer to my router the problem begins on the 1st hop after my router. its not consistent this is why the basic level support technician doesn't see it. I will provide any other info I need. I just want to solve this. so far I have paid for a few months of IMO expensive internet and have been unable to use it for the reason i got it. For starters, I'm on Gigablast & have been enjoying the really fast downloads, especially while being told to work from home for the last 1.5 years. During this time, at least once a day (usually around 10a-11a) my internet upload speeds drop down from the normal ~35 Mbps to roughly .5-5 Mbps (per Speedtest.net). This is not great when working remotely on a PC located in my office. The mouse movement gets so laggy it's almost unusable. This normally lasts 30-60min, and only rarely longer than that, which is part of the problem. Every time I call support, they tell me to reboot the router. So, after holding on the phone & then waiting for the router to reboot, this normally has allowed the requisite time to elapse so that the problem goes away. Unfortunately, to the tech, this means that the reboot "solved" the problem, which it did not. So, my question, any ideas on how I can get resolution to this issue? I'm mostly back in the office these days, but every time I work from home again (like today) I'm stuck dealing with this issue.416Views1like1CommentGigablast Operating at 1/3 of Advertised Speed
On Friday I upgraded my internet to Gigablast. Prior to this effort I have been operating using the hardware listed below. I have reset my modem and router, butI am observing download speeds of approximately 1/3 of the advertised speed. PERFORMANCE: - Download: 38.4 Mbps - Upload: 29.6 Mbps HARDWARE: - Modem: SBG8300 (DOCSIS 3.1, 4x1 Gbps Ports) - Router: Negear Nighthawk AX4300 (Capable of 4.3 Gbps) - Network Cabling: Cat6 - Device network adapter capability: 867Mbps What should I do to achieve the advertised speeds?842Views1like7Commentsjust got installed with a gigablast plan and my up/down speeds are 10mbps each!!!!!
this is pathetic, i've checked the main site to see if theres any outages in my area and nothing shows. I know i am not capable of reaching max speeds of gigablast but at least 25% of whats promised would be nice.1.6KViews1like8CommentsGigablast is SUPER SLOW 10-15 MBPS Download and 10 MBPS Upload
I've been experiencing snail pace connection speeds for the past few weeks so I upgraded to Gigablast after attempting some troubleshooting steps. (troubleshooting steps taken: power cycled all devices in home, switched from cox provided modem/router combo to my personal modem and router, power cycled devices a second time.) After attempting all the basic troubleshooting steps and even upgrading to Gigablast my connection speed got worse. I originally had the internet only plan beneath the Gigablast plan and was getting an average of 30 MBPS download and 20 MBPS upload, after the upgrade my the results were cut in half. With Gigablast I am currently getting 10-15 MBPS download and 10 MBPS upload. Someone please help, I've spoken to 4 separate supposed "Tech Support Agents" and no one has done a single thing to help. They all just keep taking me through the same basic elementary troubleshooting steps that I have been doing for the past few weeks.2.2KViews1like6CommentsCox service is making me lose my hair!!!
UPDATE 2/7: today the internet went out andas usual it happened in the same time like before. UPDATE 2/6: so I had a tech come in on Thursday [2/4] to look at the "issue" and they said that it was the POE filter and the splitter that was installed on the main line that's causing the disconnections. They said it was not up to spec with their network. Okay so they replaced it with their own as well as replaced the coax cables that's connected from the outlet to my modem. Today [2/6] I've now experienced a disconnection for 10 mins instead of a mere 1-2 mins prior to this "fix". So I pretty much spent $100 of my money just to get a worse network experience. I, and others in my household, rely on your network 24/7 not just for leisure but also for workand cannot have interruptions this severe. I am now contemplating on reporting this to the FCC the more issues I experience. I've been having issues everyday at the same timeframe with my gigablast. I've never had an issue before but so far it has started on the 2nd week of January to now and it had only worked without issue for two days straight last week.. My network connection would cut off multiple times around 11am-2pm everyday and whenever I ask assistance they would always tell me that they'll send out a tech to check my connection. I've factory reset my modem and router a million times, switched over to another coax port in the house, have tried having a direct connection from the main line to one coax port (no splitter), I've done having direct connection to the modem and all these steps have not resolved the issue. The website says that there are no outages, maintenance, service interruptions whatsoever but there clearly is. It seems Cox isn't as responsive unless it about bill pay. Customer Support would always pull a "let's have a tech come in to check your connection", no my connection isn't the issue, the residents in the vicinity is having the issue andCox doesn't seem to understand that. I've asked multiple times to check the main line that goes in our area but no one is sent to check it. There are multiple reports even on Downdetector of the same issue I'm experiencing.3.4KViews1like14Comments
