Having to reboot Modem to fix 10-30mpbs speeds

Yo,

Having to reboot modem 2-3 times a week due to gigablast service slowing down. Speeds always seem to be at 10-30mpbs when it happens. Only rebooting the modem brings the speeds back. Speeds are tested via ethernet. Connection at the outside box and in the home have been checked for loose connection. Tried a few different modem brands, That didn't help. Ive seen a few others having a strange slow down to the 10-30mpbs speeds and having to reboot the modem to fix. Would my modem logs glean any info to diagnose the issue?

Cox won't like my suggestion, and you may not either, but if you've been having this issue for an extended period of time, you might think about downgrading your Internet plan.  You're not consistently getting the speed you want anyway, and it might fix the issue... and save money.  When everything is working properly for your current and next lower plan, you probably wouldn't notice much difference in performance.  I realize you want the fastest speed possible, but if what you have doesn't work, try something different.

      Hey,

I don't think that's the answer. I prefer to get to the root cause of the problem. Bogging down to 10-30 mbps is bad on any tier they offer in my area.

I agree, but if it's a Cox infrastructure issue, there may not be anything you can do.  My thought was to save some money while you figure out how to fix it.  Modem speeds can increase after rebooting because it clears the memory and allows fresh connections to the ISP.  But why would it be necessary so often?  Good luck.  Let us know what you figure out.
