Can't get connected to the router via wifi
Hi all, Services: Cox High-Speed Internet Ultimate Package Router/Modem UBEE DDW366 Dual Band 2.4/5.0 We have a very good connection with the internet when directly connected via Ethernet cable. The below are all WiFi capable and had been connected previously, now currently unable to connect via the WiFi: Laptop 2 year old Toshiba Satellite - Connects to router, "no internet connection" Ipad - will now not connect TV - will now not connect Satellite - Says it is connected, but suspect the "no internet connection" Samsung Blue Ray player - will not connect Apple (new version) TV Box - Continues to work HP Pro Book laptop - plays hard to get and will some times connect Lenovo all in one PC - Continues to work None of the above are typically connected by ethernet cable They will attempt to connect but never do (I will try both bandwidths)If and when they do I get a message "No Internet Connection" We are fairly close to the router, and have tried even in the same room, no bueno! All of the above have been connected and working at various times during the time I have used the UBEE DDW366 with COX as the internet provider, which makes this a very frustrating and confusing situation. Prior to moving here and switching to COX all of the above were able to be connected via a Motorola SB6580 with TWC as the provider. I could count on one hand minus a couple of fingers for the amount of connection issues, it just worked every single time so am I missing something, is there some kind of magic to get these items online again? I have done the following: Reset the router/modem, both quick reset and a hard reset Turned off the router/modem for a brief period Rest adapters on the hardware of my laptops, turned off the other items and switched them back on to reset Stared at it, pleading with this piece of plastic - no really! Gone to church Reset the router/modem, both quick reset and a hard reset Turned off the router/modem for a brief period Repeat and Rinse Repeat and Rinse So ultimately my questions are, 1. Is this the way it's supposed to be? 2. Can I expect an easier plug and play experiance 3. Should I cancel and go with an inferior service just to get the connectivity I need 4. can you help! I have had to reboot my router at least 2x everyday for the past week. I call for tech support and I get automated instruction. I can't get the thing to work and I'm ready to cancel. I reboot, it works for a while and then I get kicked off and have to keep repeating this. And is there compensation for the inconvenience? Cox charges fees and you just have to pay them......what happens when it's their turn to make things right?10KViews0likes15Comments2.4 ghz wifi question
I have the Panoramic WiFi, which supports both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz network. Anyway, my understanding is that if you are using a device (i.e.: Cell phone) that is only capable of accessing the 2.4 ghz band, then you are stuck at the slower speeds even though the Panoramic WiFi goes up to 5 ghz, which is faster. Anyway, I recently chatted with a Cox representative and he said that Cox offers a plan where you pay $15.00 more per month to access the 5 ghz network. Does that plan actually override my cellphone's 2.4 ghz limitation and allow for faster speeds over wi-fi, like the 5 ghz speeds? I currently have the 150 mbps coverage, but I'm not sure if that is strictly through an Ethernet connection or if that includes Wi-Fi. Is what the Cox representative trying to sell me for $15.00 more per month legitimate? He was actually claiming that I could get speeds greater than 150 mbps over Wi-Fi with the "upgrade". I was having trouble with our Cox supplied Cisco DPQ3925 wifi service combined with voip telephone and high speed internet (100 bps). Every 2-3 days, I would need to unplug everything to reset the wifi. Cox replaced the cable modem router with anew one, but problem continued. Was advised to buy separate wifi router which is now installed and working. (Linksys WRT1900 ACS) but finding that it randomly rejects certain devices that were previously working fine. I thought it might be conflict with Cisco wifi and wanted to disable that function. Was advised by Cox techs that I did not need to disable the wifi on the Cisco, and only choose the wifi on the device and sign in accordingly to either one we wanted. Worried about conflicts there. Question is, should I/can I buy a separate cable modem for high speed internet and split off the Cox modem for only the phone service, or just keep Cox high speed internet and go back to Verizon phone? Constant issues causing too many headaches! What is the ideal configuration and setup for optimum speed and reliability? We have a cable modem and router (separate units) that we have supplied ourselves (that is, they are not ones we rent from Cox). Does Cox limit the number of devices (e.g. laptop, Macbook Pro, iPhones, iPads, Roku boxes, etc.) that I can connect to the internet through my router? I heard someone mention once that they had an issue with the number of devices that their ISP allowed them to connect to their Wi-Fi router, but I wasn't sure if that was something that Cox did or not.8.9KViews0likes1CommentMultiple hidden networks coming from Panoramic Wifi
Hey all, I've noticed that there are multiple hidden networks coming from my Panoramic Wifi, I've never seen this from other routers. 2 in the 5ghz channel, 2 inthe 2.4ghz channel. They are each on the corresponding channel to the unhidden normal network. (2.4ghz for example, main network on channel 11, two hidden networks also on channel 11) They have the same signal strength as the main networks. There is one 802.1X classified hidden network in both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I am viewing this data by using the "Wifi Explorer" app from the macOS app store. I'm a new Cox customer after more than a decade in Comcast territory. I rely heavily on the Wi-Fi hotspot network and use one or more different hotspots every day. Since moving to Cox I noticed some strange behavior at coffee shops, restaurants, bars and other places that have Cox service. If a location has their own named, public hotspot I can connect to that and get expected speed/performance. If that same location also is also advertising a CoxWiFi hotspot, I can always get connected to a strong signal, but mostly I have no internet service. In other words, I can see a CoxWiFi hotspot with a strong signal. I can connect to that hotspot, but then I have no actual internet service. This has happened to me in many locations. Again today I am at Bourbon Jacks in Chandler AZ with the same problem. I'm trying to attach an image below, captured from my screen. You'll see the CoxWiFi network, but when I try using that I get no internet access. Switching to the Bourbon Jacks network I get a Cox connection with no problems. Is this normal, expected behavior?
