VERY SLOW UPLOAD SPEEDS, download is fine.
I have been dealing with extremely slow upload speeds for a very long time, at least a year. Maybe two? I have gigablast. Download is consistently fine. Always around 900 mbps and above. Upload is sporadic. Very seldom I get the 35mbps. But its very short lasting. Maybe a couple hours, then it goes back down to well under 10mbps. Most of the time it stays under 5mbps. Just ran a speed test, its at 3mbps. Anyways, numerous tech visits. Most of them didn't find anything. Changed all cables from the pole outside, all the way into my house and up to my modem. Its a straight cable from the pole to modem, no splitters. Replaced my modem. Replaced all ethernet cords. Literally replaced EVERYTHING. Still having the same issues. One of the techs said I was getting slow speeds at the pole. Scheduled out a linemen to come check the lines down my street. Linemen said that he found something and that it should be repaired. My upload came up for a few days and stayed consistent, which never happened before, but now its back down again. Dealing with these issues for so long is very, very frustrating and the fact that I pay $160 a month for gigablast and the extra 500gb data and I don't even get a fraction of the speed I am paying for just tops it off. I don't know what else to do. I've just about given up. There's nothing else to replace. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Because I do not know what else to do. I've browsed many forums and other things on the internet and this seems to be an issues for many people, but i'm hoping someone has a miracle for me. And before anyone asks: YES, i'm directly connected to the modem WIRED and its on multiple devices. Yes I have rebooted it too many times to count.37KViews0likes20CommentsDownload speed fine. Poor/intermittent upload speed.
Hi, Recently I've been experiencing issues with my upload speed. The download speed is fine. Sometimes when I run the cox recommended speed test, I'll have around 8Mbps upload, and 30 seconds later I'll get 2-3Mbps upload. I'm currently on Preferred 150/10. Definitely seeing more 2-3Mbps upload test results than anything close to 10, sometimes I've even gotten 0 back. Done the whole basic troubleshooting with multiple support representatives and boy does that get old. Yes I know how to reset. Yes I know to bypass the router. No I haven't changed any set up on my end, but somehow I'm experiencing terrible upload speeds and intermittent drops. I have an sb6183 arris modem, wrt1900ac router, upstream and downstream status look okay to me, so I'm assuming something has to be the issue from the connection to my house to the cox node, or somewhere along the way. Half the cable is new to the modem. Was told I can't have a technician come out and take a look because I'm not renting a cox modem - really?! Really baffled on this one, and could use some help. Most recent speed test and modem status linked. speed test modem status Thanks!Solved20KViews0likes50CommentsSTILL Packet Loss For Over a year in games (Fortnite, Overwatch, Rocket League, etc)
My original thread about this was locked with no reason, and after multiple Cox technicians and calls I am still receiving extremely bad packet loss on the upload side only. Mainly to games that use Amazon AWS servers. Anybody from Cox or community members able to help me? Original thread - Hello, I have been a Cox Customer for 17 years and a few years ago I started having very bad packet loss issues. I have spent hundreds of hours trying to fix this issue but it still happens even years later. I am only receiving packet loss (upload), 0% download packet loss. I am receiving low ping (for the most part) (30-40ms) and high packet loss (10-120%) in games such as Fortnite, Overwatch, Rocket league and more. It is happening on my PC & PS4. I have tried pretty much every solution you can think of. (I am hardwired directly to the modem with Ethernet as well) This is a Cox issue as I used a TMobile hotspot and received 0% packet loss so it can't be anything on my end. At least I don't think so.19KViews0likes49CommentsUpload Speeds drop in the Evening.
Been having some issues as of late. in the evening the upload speeds drop considerably. to the point where my sons can not game online on their ps4. bought a new modem and new router thinking it would solve the issue. then we upgraded to the ultimate package at 300/30. sometime around 7pm every night the upload speeds drop and come back around 10pm or so. all other times speeds seem to be fine. what could it be? have had a tech out and he changed all ends on the cables and signal tests were good at that point. issue still hasn't been resolved. requency start Value This field below allows you to modify the frequency the cable modem start with its scan during initialization and registration. Ok so, i upgraded my services several months ago from preferred to premier. Upgrading to this tier requires a docsis 3 modem as you all know. First day i upgraded my speeds changed from 27/8 to 33/10 average. I was very disappointed. after 2 techs an several hours of phone calls i finally got in touch with someone to fix the issue. it was the "coding" i believe it was worded. Basically they hooked up my modem but didnt adjust the speed form the com center. Bam, i was getting great speed now. One problem, major packet loss. I figured it wasnt that big of an issues as i was getting better upload speeds than before and just wrote it off. Well after comparing voip and video to my parents 25/5 connection with no packet loss, its was a problem. I am a gamer and we spend a considerable amount of time using programs like skype to connect with my family across the US as well as my wife using for conference calls to conduct business. I spent over a decade dealing with internet issues as a teenager living at my parents an was the one who would call and have techs come out. I've never seen this much packet loss and after comparing i got on the phone and started trouble shooting with techs. i have had 3 techs come out for this issue. Things that have been done are running a new line that feeds into the house, one tech added an amp because my signals down where in the -8 and greater range causing some disconnect issues, the last tech to come out got me off the amp stating i didnt need it an that it could be causing the upload packet problem and he also changed splitters and fittings. No luck still. i have seen several of these issues resolved from different things, but all seem to be a long road and a headache. iam inquiring about eatels fiber optics as they are becoming available in my area but before i make a switch i want to give this a valiant effort as my wife loves the tv package we have with dvr that is considerably more money with eatel. Is there a expert team, or a set of procedures to fix this issue or am i just spinning my wheels? any one with a docsis 3 with premier or ultimate getting 0 or very little packet loss? any info at this point would be helpful.16KViews0likes13CommentsFluctuating Upload Speeds
Since about a month ago I've been having some terrible issues with my upload speed, here is what it's currently at right now: https://gyazo.com/8f25a6217a981c65a4cf9cfe61365105 My husband streams and has been unable to stay connected because the upload speed drops to literally zero and fluctuates up and down around 0MBs - 3MBs. I have called support, followed all of their instructions and had a technician out who replaced the old cable with a new one, no success. I contacted support via live chat, followed a number of their instructions, to no avail. Contacted live chat again only this time the tech was pushing to sell me faster speeds... I'm already on 150MBs Download 10MBs Upload (which doesn't work) and for some reason he thought upgrading would help and then he rudely ended the live chat session. I purchased a new modem, as I was told my existing modem may not be working correctly, not the case as the issue still persisted. I have removed my router and hardwired into my PC and checked the connection, it was still fluctuating badly. I hardwired into my husbands PC and checked the connection, it remained the same... fluctuating badly. With router connected, I checked connection on devices using WiFi, same issue. Here is whats happening during livestreaming: https://gyazo.com/ab18ea3ad62716424d105d87b8cf6bb2 It's impossible to stay connected. I explained this over and over again to every technician I spoke to, but it's as though they don't understand or like talking to a wall. they give the same instructions and after you're finished if the issue isn't fixed they tell you it's your equipment. How is it my equipment, if I have tested it all over and over again. The strange part of this is, this issue starts at around 12pm and continues on for the rest of the day/night, all morning from around 9am the connection is fine. I want some real help, not to be told to reset my modem or remove my router, I'm sick to death of hearing that. It isn't my modem or router that is the issue.13KViews0likes36CommentsSlow Upload Speeds; Trying to Stream on Twitch
So recently I have been trying to stream on Twitch.tv, and even thoughwe paying for the Ultimate Internet package, which includes 30mbps upload, I am only able to stream at 3500 bitrateand this still doesn't guarantee a good quality stream without dropped frames. I would also like to mention that even though we are paying for this service, I am getting an average of about 20-24mbps upload, with it very rarely reaching 30mbps. I called about this a week ago I had two techs come out so far. One came out Monday the 17th and another came out today at around noon. The first tech said everything should be fixed by Friday, but I have performed multiple speed tests since then and I have yet to see speeds remotely close to 30mbps aside from a couple trials. (see attached image) He also put in a ticket for someone from Cox's maintenance team to come and see if there were any issues on the line outside my house, and from what I have been told, everything has been resolved yet I am still experiencing less than expected upload speeds. I also have performed multiple Twitch Bandwidth tests toverify that there is an issue with my upload speed, and sure enough I get mediocre bandwidth results along with very low quality connections to servers that are close to me. (see attached image) Not sure what to do at this point because it seems like getting a tech out here for the third time would be nothing but a nuisance to them, since all they do is come here and tell me they can't do anything about it and that they will forward the issue. Hopefully someone on here can provide me with some help. Thanks11KViews0likes17Commentsatrociously inconsistent upload speeds as well as connection to twitch.
Hey everyone, I've been a cox customer for 3 years now, and I am a affiliate twitch streamer who is just starting to grow my channel in hopes of doing this full time. Now up until about 4 months ago I was streaming to twitch using the premier package and had no problems, then we had a slew of problems in my apartment complex that effected multiple tenants have EXTREMELY low upload (like less than 1 mbps). During this time I tried many many solutions (including upgrading to the ultimate package) however since then, the speeds seem to have leveled out a bit (only on speedtest.net, still a little inconsistent on other tests) and NOW my streaming to twitch is horrendous, I can only dream of streaming at the quality I used to, something seems to be interfering with my connection to twitch and also my upload in general seems all over the place. I've tried BRAND NEW hardware, I've had multiple technicians come out here and tell me that YES there is something wrong but they can't figure it out, even a supervisor came out and told me the same thing this last Thursday. I have spoke with possibly hundreds of different reps and to no avail. I NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS, I am paying for a service from you guys for a reason and I can no longer use the reason I'm paying for this service any longer. The customer service from you guys have been atrocious, constantly giving me the run around, this has been almost 5 months now I've had this same exact problem with NO help, I've had technicians come out BACK to BACK and all tell me that I have a problem but they don't know what to do. now here is a post on reddit with multiple people who have the SAME exact issue as me https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/4cmxau/cox_is_throttling_customers_who_stream_on_twitch/ here are some of my speedtests: http://testmy.net/db/cesKgYxOW http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6643836876 http://speedof.me/show.php?img=170921181400-3969.png Now I can upload a test directly from my xbox and my ps4 as well if you'd like and they will show uploads that fluctuate from 7-12. even speedtest seems to fluctuate from like 20-30, but like I said my upload is VERY inconsistent, I had a supervisor named walter that was here last thursday and he understood what twitch is (unlike everyone else I have spoken to) and he plugged directly into my line and said that my uploads were low and even he had no clue what to do. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM IT IS NOT SOMETHING ON MY END.10KViews0likes16CommentsUnstable upload speeds - need solution
