Download speed fine. Poor/intermittent upload speed.
Hi, Recently I've been experiencing issues with my upload speed. The download speed is fine. Sometimes when I run the cox recommended speed test, I'll have around 8Mbps upload, and 30 seconds later I'll get 2-3Mbps upload. I'm currently on Preferred 150/10. Definitely seeing more 2-3Mbps upload test results than anything close to 10, sometimes I've even gotten 0 back. Done the whole basic troubleshooting with multiple support representatives and boy does that get old. Yes I know how to reset. Yes I know to bypass the router. No I haven't changed any set up on my end, but somehow I'm experiencing terrible upload speeds and intermittent drops. I have an sb6183 arris modem, wrt1900ac router, upstream and downstream status look okay to me, so I'm assuming something has to be the issue from the connection to my house to the cox node, or somewhere along the way. Half the cable is new to the modem. Was told I can't have a technician come out and take a look because I'm not renting a cox modem - really?! Really baffled on this one, and could use some help. Most recent speed test and modem status linked. speed test modem status Thanks!Solved20KViews0likes50CommentsSlow Upload Speeds; Trying to Stream on Twitch
So recently I have been trying to stream on Twitch.tv, and even thoughwe paying for the Ultimate Internet package, which includes 30mbps upload, I am only able to stream at 3500 bitrateand this still doesn't guarantee a good quality stream without dropped frames. I would also like to mention that even though we are paying for this service, I am getting an average of about 20-24mbps upload, with it very rarely reaching 30mbps. I called about this a week ago I had two techs come out so far. One came out Monday the 17th and another came out today at around noon. The first tech said everything should be fixed by Friday, but I have performed multiple speed tests since then and I have yet to see speeds remotely close to 30mbps aside from a couple trials. (see attached image) He also put in a ticket for someone from Cox's maintenance team to come and see if there were any issues on the line outside my house, and from what I have been told, everything has been resolved yet I am still experiencing less than expected upload speeds. I also have performed multiple Twitch Bandwidth tests toverify that there is an issue with my upload speed, and sure enough I get mediocre bandwidth results along with very low quality connections to servers that are close to me. (see attached image) Not sure what to do at this point because it seems like getting a tech out here for the third time would be nothing but a nuisance to them, since all they do is come here and tell me they can't do anything about it and that they will forward the issue. Hopefully someone on here can provide me with some help. Thanks11KViews0likes17CommentsCox throttling upload speed to twitch.tv
Im an affliated twitch streamer and its really hard for me to do my hobby/job, because of cox throttling my speeds. Already replaced the coaxial cable making sure there are no bends or damage. My upload speed is supposed to be 10mbps, but its very incosistent. The same problems keeps happening for the past 5 months. I drop frames streaming and the stream is never smooth, just as i was growing. I've already had a Tech out and they resolved the problem for 1 day. Not looking to have another tech out. A lot of other streamers have had problems with cox streaming on twitch. The only conclusion i have is Cox throttling my upload speed.9.2KViews0likes0CommentsMe and my girl friend are having issues streaming on cox to Twitch,YouTube,Mixer and Facebook.
So my girl friend is an affiliate on twitch and for the past 6 months we have had issues streaming to twitch we have had several techs come out to the house and do every thing they could from replace the router/modem combo and completely rework the box on the side of our house and replacing all the coax lines. I after 12 days of the issue persisting went out and purchased all new LAN cables with the highest grade possible with gold plated shielding and all around 80 bucks all together. after the first month the issue still didn't disappear matter of fact its been happening every time we stream for more than 2 minutes. Okay so lets get to business and show you modem levels log files and server tests for streaming to show you what i'm dealing with. My current internet plan is the ultimate 300/30 Mbps with unlimited data. Internet plan https://imgur.com/a/spWS9mO modem signals https://imgur.com/a/QgoJgDL Now I do have a theory as to why she and I drop frames and it has to do with upload specific packet loss because when she or I are in a game the network symbol for packet loss appears for a bit as my stream struggles to stay connected, now here are some speed tests supporting this theory because when i'm streaming and take a speed test my upload is fine but I think there might be packet loss on my upstream which causes the dropped frames and unstable connection! https://imgur.com/a/2rSZVqB Okay now for the next test this is a quality test for your upload to the twitch servers mind you need a score above 80 to not drop frames or have issues I will post 3 screen shots showing the test and the max bit-rate I can use without issues aka upload speed, reminder though these are not consistent today the test may show good results and the next day it shows bad results I and today could be one of the good days. The reason I do a 30 second test is because it gives the most ideal and best of your connection. Thats the end of the tests if you can help me find out why I drop frames when I stream to YouTube or Twitch please comment the potential issue.6.8KViews1like4CommentsCox upload speed 1mb with gigablast
Paying for the Gigablast plan and only getting 1 mbps upload speeds. My download speeds are perfect i get up to 960 wired at times, but my upload is not. I've had a technician recently come out and clean up interference from my cable lines and my issues seemed to be fixed temporarily. Ive purchased 2 new modems and had them activated separately and the issue still exist. (Netgear cm1200 and Arris Surfboard SB8200 (which im keeping bc of its compactness) . Ive got another tech scheduled to come out Saturday but i feel like this might be a issue at the cable line source. I asked the live chat agent if he can get someone to check on the signal of the are and he told me the agent he scheduled will work outside. My hopes aren't hi that the person scheduled will actually do any work at the source and will only work on the cable box outside of my house which was recently worked on and currently only has 1 line running into it due to me cutting off my phone line. That cable is connected by 2 or 3 couplers and no splitters. Any help would be appreciated. Ive tested the speeds coming directly from the modem as well. Im starting to think cox is intentionally sabotaging my upload speeds in hopes to get me to pay for the panoramic modem/router which they keep throwing in my face.5KViews0likes13Commentsvery slow upload speeds
Hello, I have the Ultimate internet package which gives up to 300mbps download and up to 30 mbps upload, but the last few days, ive been getting from .1 to .7 mbps upload speeds. My download speed is fine, 250-350 mbps according to speedtest and I am also using an ethernet connection. I have a netgear r7000 that i just recently updated because I thought that might have been the cause, but nothing changed after the update. Im very lost here, the only explanation i have is that its on Cox's side.2.9KViews0likes2CommentsUpload speeds dip around 3 PM.
Hello - I am beyond annoyed with Cox's service right now. For the past few days, my upload speeds have been dipping around 3 PM. This is a huge problem. With COVID I do everything online, school, talking with friends and family, etc. All of those things require upload speed, and mine is practically nonexistent. Usually my upload speed is around 11Mbps. Last night, and tonight, when I tested it has been in between 0.07 and 0.11. This is obviously frustrating. I tried to call the support number earlier, went through everything with it saying internet speed is hard to help with, just to be hung up on after saying hello. It doesn't really matter if internet speed is hard to help with, the minimum for my upload speed should be much higher than this. I'm very upset. I've had plenty of problems in the past and if this isn't resolved I will probably look into switching providers.2.9KViews0likes15CommentsCox Communications deliberately limiting max upload speeds to 10 Mbps?
Just wanted to verify, as it seems many Cox customers are currently experiencing similar issues that I have been having. We have been paying for the Gigablast service since April, and things were mostly fine, with Download at 900-940 Mbps and Upload at 25-35 Mbps (accounting for fluctuations). I was very excited to finally have nice internet, and I did the research for a good modem and router that would match. Speeds were great with only minor interruptions. About a month and a half ago, however, our internet download speeds dropped significantly to DL 200-350 Mbps and UL 0.5 - 8 Mbps (sometimes 0). The download I could work with, I understand the increased loads due to Covid-19, but the upload speeds have been kicking me from work meetings, games and streams, and sometimes I'm not even able to load webpages. With our internet fluctuating, the 8 Mbps UL frequently drops to zero, which appears to be causing the disconnects when I monitor it. Every time I contact support, I get a different answer as to what the problems may be, but they usually end up with telling me my equipment is bad, and that I should pay for the Panoramic Wifi box. As easy a fix as that sounds, the forums cover that the Panoramic boxes are having the same exact issues, so most likely I'd end up paying more, for the same performance or worse. To add to my skepticism, though, I have had technicians come out twice to look at the box on the outside of my house, and each time, the speeds return to normal for about a day, which informs me that my equipment is likely not the fault. The last technician mentioned that my house is located at the end of a line, and that the entire line may be experiencing issues, and that he would try and reach out for a fix. When I let support know, they still insist that I just need to upgrade to the Panoramic Wifi, and all of my problems will vanish. Not likely. I've been doing some digging, and I came across this article recently, which conveys that Cox has been limiting max upload speeds to 10 Mbps for all users in certain neighborhoods, primarily to reduce the congestion that Cox Communications have been encountering since the start of Covid-19. Check out the link below if you want, or just "google cox limiting upload speeds" if you don't trust the link. arstechnica.com/.../ Interestingly enough, the timelines in the articles (Near the beginning of June) almost directly coincide with the time my upload speeds began dropping dramatically. I have not been able to find additional articles corroborating this story (aside from articles that reference this one), so I was hoping to try and confirm the information in the article through Cox directly. If this is truly the case, I would just like it to be confirmed so I can stop tearing my hair out or wasting money looking for a fix.2.8KViews0likes2Commentsunstable upload speed/stream
Ok. How come last night im able to have a stable steady 1080p 60fps stream, but tonight its a buffering mess with under 30 fps? checked out speed tests and found out im getting half the upload speed i Used to get. I'm forced to now stream in 720p and that still doesnt improve my frames and bit rate shouldnt have to dip below 4500, it would be extremely unoptimal2.8KViews0likes9CommentsUpload speeds insanely low
Upload speed has been below 0.10 mbps recently if not lower. My download speeds have been perfectly fine. I cant figure out the problem and i cant find any other forum post like this that has been answered ,But it seems like a lot of people are having this issue. Speed Test Results2.2KViews0likes8Comments
