New DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem, slow and intermittent stoppage
I went to this "latest and greatest" cable modem only to find the Internet was slow, timed out, and aggravating with "unable to connect" to servers on the web. I found this website: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/broadband-cable/cable-modems/12551-troubleshooting-slow-perf.html#performance According to the Cisco site, "Performance Restricted by DOCSIS Configuration File The first piece of information that needs to be gathered when troubleshooting slow cable modem performance is the prescribed class of service throughput limitations of the cable modem. When a cable modem comes online, it downloads a DOCSIS configuration file that contains operational limits for the cable modem, including the maximum upload and download rates. Under normal circumstances, the cable modem is not allowed to exceed these rates." So, does anyone know what Cox DOCSIS configuration file is download that ruins the performance of a modem? Also, how should one tweak this configuration file to get one's performance back?1.6KViews0likes3CommentsDownload fine, upload too low
For about a week now, my upload speed has been intermittently too low. Sometimes as high as 30 up, which is fantastic, but mostly it is about 1 or 2 up. Numerous calls and chats to support and two onsite techs later I have all new cabling to the box outside from my modem, upgraded my account, bought new modem and new router at the recommendation of various techs. Some techs have said I must RENT the modem from them (bill keeps going higher and higher in direct proportion to speed going lower and lower it seems). This is first time this has happened in 17 years with Cox cable. At $100 a month for 17 years I have wasted $20K on watching TV and going on the internet. Imagine if I had put that in my 401K instead.1KViews0likes1CommentStreaming (Dropped Frames); Upload Speeds seem lower than usual
Since Friday and until now I've been having some issues with my upload speed. I try to stream on OBS studio and I've been getting lots of dropped frames. I've tried to restart both my router and modem, update the ethernet device, and checked the firmware which is up to date. When I speed test on the COX site, it says it's fine. The normal range of what I'm paying 150/10. But when I test on testmy.net it's telling me I'm getting 1-2 and also ookla says I'm fine with my upload. I've tried to stream on both YouTube and Twitch and I'm still dropping frames. I've researched to see if there's a solution and most say to bring it up with my internet provider. I didn't have this issue until Friday. I currently pay for 150/10. I have a Netgear CM500 Modem and an ASUS RT-AC66U Router.1.6KViews0likes1CommentInternet drops to <1M down and ~1.1 up after 9PM 7 nights a week
Hi there, Same situation as others are describing here. I'm receiving 0.91 down and 1.1 up after about 9PM every day of the week. I've checked my modem, it appears to be fine. I've power cycled it, let it drop connection and re-establish, made sure I've got a Docsis 3.0, etc. I've even pulled up WireShark and traced the hop issues outside of my house. I already made the call to Verizon this morning to change to FIOS. They're gonna get back to me as soon as they know the status of my community's utility line upgrade. My income is supplemented by streaming, so as you can imagine, being unable to stream due to poor service is unacceptable. I've heard of Netflix-o-clock and that cable is shared among community, but if I pay for 15 up 15 down, I want at least 33% of what I'm paying for. I'm looking at T1 lines for $199 a month, too, but that's a large chunk of my streaming income and I'd prefer to not cut into my margin line that. A solution would be preferable. Thank you, Mr. Michael1.1KViews0likes1Commentwhy is my upload speed slowing down so much lately?
i have had the ultimate package for roughly 1 and a half months now. since then i have had to call service on my internet speed 3 times including the day after i had the service installed. i have had 3 total visits from techs, the first 2 being from the same guy who was fantastic, found the packet loss problem, called maintenance on the line, and the issue was fixed shortly after. after that though the upload speed is faltering again, i had my third visit from a tech who chose to not believe what i was saying and say that every manner in which i was testing my internet speed was unreliable and not supported by their testing specifications, who also only checked the connection at the modem and not the signal strength or at the cable junction box for my apartment. i still believe that my connection is not stable or reliable and i need it for work.1.5KViews0likes2CommentsTerrible internet speeds
Does anyone else have a terrible experience with cox internet? Our internet speeds are nowhere near the advertised levels and the internet speed test that is available from cox cable is a complete lie when compared to every other speed test available. The LTE service from my Verizon cell phone is more reliable and has faster download speeds on average when compared.3.3KViews0likes4CommentsSLOW INTERNET
For the past several months my internet connection speed is super slow and sometimes it freezes, my service plan should be up to 150 Mbps but I am only getting about 77 Mbps, I've tried unplugging and replugging my router to reboot but the internet is much slower than I detect my neighbors' signals, I get 2-bars and I am picking up my neighbors' signal at 4-5 bars. Perhaps my router needs replacement?1.3KViews0likes2CommentsUpload Speeds drop in the Evening.
Been having some issues as of late. in the evening the upload speeds drop considerably. to the point where my sons can not game online on their ps4. bought a new modem and new router thinking it would solve the issue. then we upgraded to the ultimate package at 300/30. sometime around 7pm every night the upload speeds drop and come back around 10pm or so. all other times speeds seem to be fine. what could it be? have had a tech out and he changed all ends on the cables and signal tests were good at that point. issue still hasn't been resolved. requency start Value This field below allows you to modify the frequency the cable modem start with its scan during initialization and registration.
