Daily Internet Issues!
We have had horrible Internet service from Cox. Recently upgraded to the 1GB go faster (whatever it is called) with unlimited data under a promo Cox was having. Since then I can count on no internet - or spotty internet with freezing live streams and/or complete drops in service DAILY for about a month or so since the upgrade. I verified my modem is listed by Cox as a supported device for their service & this plan. Speed Tests when it is working have never shown above 70mbps - usually it’s more in the low to mid sixties. I have rebooted & reset everything! My modem, my router & my extender. I can barely get a signal standing in front of the router. All WiFi components work but cannot connect to the internet when my modem is showing all is well. Cox of course shows no problems in my area but a couple of times I’ve spotted a cox van doing something a street or so away….once even in my neighborhood. Any ideas on how to fix this? I’m at a complete loss and beyond frustrated! One glance at these forums and the consistently high percentage of internet service complaints regarding Cox internet on Download Detector has me wondering if I would keep what’s left of my sanity trying to trouble shoot this (if you e ever tried to deal with Cox technical support or customer service you know what I mean) or if I’m better off canceling service all together & going with another company that does fiber connected internet? It would seem that is what multiple households in my area have been switching too….might be worth it in the long run?62Views0likes1CommentInternet Down Two Days in a Row
This is the second day that the Cox internet in my neighborhood has gone down for over eight hours. It also went down yesterday for a while and the only saving grace was that I was so busy, I wasn't able to get home until it was turned back on after 8pm. What the heck is going on? What is with all of these outages?73Views0likes3CommentsInternet Outages, periodic, Ranging Errors
I would appreciate any insight or solutions to the periodic loss of our internet connection. Over time this has occurred “every so often” and months can go by without this occurring. When it does occur, like recently, it happens two or three days in a row, usually on a weekend. (example: Fri, Sat, Sun, Tues, and last weekend, too). Sometimes the internet reappears in 2, 5 or 10 minutes, or if I am really PO’d, I reboot my modem. Rebooting the Modem usually, but not always, restores the connection. During the ‘out’ time, the modem happily shows the correct amber and blue lights, like it’s perking along just fine; it isn’t. Also, during the ‘out’ time, my internal network is fine: I can see all of my devices and computers, etc. So it seems NOT to be an issue with the Router…? When this occurs, the Modem log is filled with more than a dozen successive by the second, 3-Critical R02.0 and R07.0 Ranging Errors. After I do reboot the modem, the Log page is mostly blank, and if I think to look at it in a week or month, it’s still basically blank until the internet lost issue happens, and the log gets filled up again with a page of these 02 and 07 errors. During my recent CHAT with Support, they said, “Oh, your signal is bad” - (I didn’t correct the tech by pointing out that it is YOUR signal that’s bad….) “I’ll reset your Modem. (ok, that works). Also, if anyone has the info, I’d like to know if there is a difference between when I take off power and then reboot my Modem, or when Cox central office Resets it, like today. Thanks for any info the Cox Support Team or the Forum Experts can provide. Data: Cox San Diego, North Motorola SB6121 (not too old) Netgear R7000 Router Windows, various;3.2KViews0likes8Comments
