Regex Email Filters
Hello all - First time poster here. The new email system has taken away the "does not contain" option for making an email filter, and with it then my favorite filter. I had a final filter set that said: If To does not contain mylastname AND cc does not contain mylastname then put the email in my spam folder. (Mylastname would have to be in bcc). Thus many list servers would go to spam. If I found I wanted one of those upon review, I would make allowance for that in an earlier filter. Worked like a champ for 20 years. So I set out to make a replacement with regex, and it's been difficult. I am not a regex noob, but there are many flavors of it. Cox seems to be using the Open-Exchange version (I know because that's what complains about my errors ) but I can't find out anything about what and which that engine supports. If anyone knows of a pertinent link, I would appreciate the steer. I do believe that Open-Exchange does not support look-ahead, which makes exclusionary matching very hard. For those of you who have successful regex rules, would you please reply with an example? I presume that if the appropriate string is found, the rule is satisfied and executed. Is all that goes into the rule the regular expression? I ask because I've tried the very simple and too broad rule of [^lettersofmylastname] to force a result, and that doesn't work. I'm figuring my approach is incomplete. Is there a Cox tutorial out there? I'd appreciate any lessons learned. Thanks for reading, and season's cheer.1.6KViews0likes3CommentsOutlook unable to send emails
I am using Outlook 2013 on a Surface running Windows 10. The error message I get when testing send message is: Send test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). My Outlook email box is configured to use POP3 (port 110) and SMTP (port 25). My username and password are specified for both receiving and sending. When I use the same settings on my Sprint cell phone network, Outlook works just fine. I therefore assume this is a Cox configuration issue. If you need additional information, just ask, as I am in IT professional, and am willing to work with you to resolve this issue. Please advise.4.2KViews0likes6CommentsCan't receive e-mail - send OK
I know this sounds stupid but I can send e-mail and it seems to go out fine. I confirm over the phone. I can send myself an e-mail and I get that. But I'm not receiving any from anyone else. I don't get it. Am I missing some setting? This just started today. Never had this happen before. I did a chat with COX tech support and all he did was write a ticket on it and the tech dept. will get to it in up to 3 days. Are you kidding me!!! Anyone out there have a solution for this?1.9KViews0likes3CommentsNo incoming or outgoing email
I have not been able to send or receive email through cox since Thursday at 4am. I've tried using the email app on my phone with mobile data, the wifi at my house via Cox and the internet at my work as well. No email at all. When I call, they tell me they are working on it? Any suggestions or anyone else experiencing this? I am beyond frustrated. Can't do work or personal!6.8KViews0likes23CommentsAuthentication Failure
I am having problems using my alias account which is ***@cox.net through my gmail. It worked perfectly for the last couple of years and then just stopped. I get this message: "Delivery incomplete. There was a temporary problem delivering your message to ....The response from the remote server was:454 4.7.0 ... authentication failure : try again later". So I deleted the "send as" email address in my gmail settings and then tried to add it back to see if that helped. Now I can't even do that. I keep getting this message. Authentication failed. Please check your username/password. Server returned error: "454 4.7.0 ... authentication failure : try again later code(454) " I've read a lot of these posts and I think I have really tried everything. My password is correct (yes, I've used it to sign in at Cox.net) and I've tried my user name with and without the @cox.net. "smtp.cox.net" is correct and I've tried both SSL 465 and TLS 587. As per another of these posts I've tried doing it through an incognito window. I really need help, please!!! Thanks.4.6KViews0likes5CommentsNew Myemail
Opened email yesterday and found that Cox had switch us to the newer myemail format. We have found that it is much slower loading and we can not control the number of emails displayed. How do we get back to the old format that worked just fine? No one even asked if we wanted to switch.2.5KViews0likes4CommentsSending email with large distribution list - kicked back as spam
How can I send a weekly newletters to a large group (100 to 150) on a distribution lists and not getting kicked back as spam. I have done this successfully for years. Yesterday, one of my sends was kicked back. and am not able to send. I split the 140 members into two lists of 70 and tried to send them as two emails. Still a kickback.5KViews0likes7Comments
