Hubs for Contour
I’m a quadriplegic and need to use voice recognition completely. I cannot get my contour box to communicate with my fire cube. Is there a hub (like the old harmony hub) that can send the IR signals to the Arris box. I’ve tried different IR blasters with a new Amazon Fire TV Omni. I’ve tried adding a fire tv cube to the tv. I’ve tried a Aqara hub with no consistent results.217Views0likes1CommentContour box slow to record or won't record or cancels my recordings on its own. Freezes.
Contour box slow to record or won't record or cancels my recordings on its own. I just had COX TECH CERTIFY MY HOUSE WITH MULTIPLE TESTING on 11/10/2020. Everything including the Contour TV Cable box checked out good. This has gone on since January 2020. I had 7 boxes in 6 months. Sign up to record 6 shows at once. I only have 1 tv. After a I delete a program. I have to wait 5 minutes to be able to record. This is my 6th box in 7 months. The first box lasted almost 2 years. 6 contour boxes since March 2020. June and July 2020 2 bucket truck Cox techs said there is an ongoing problem in Atlanta. I'm paying for a service that works well half the time. They have been upgrading services around here for severals months now so I get lots of slow downs or no services. I'm sick of calling the Cox Tech Dept about these on going issues.662Views0likes1CommentContour GUI is a excruciatingly slow.
The Contour’s guide is unusable, as inputs on the contour remote are not registered by the contour system until 5-10 MINUTES later. The slowness also causes the bottom information frame that pops up to be in the background, creating a burn-in effect that messes with my TV. The TV thinks that there is no active input after 30 minutes, so my TV’s screen saver comes on to prevent burn-in. This has been an ongoing problem since the we got the system, and does not seem to be limited to me judging by all the other complaints on the Internet. I will be filing a complaint with the FCC regardless of the outcome of this post, as that has been the only way to get anything fixed in the past. I just want this post to be visible for others having this issue.3KViews0likes5CommentsXRE-03121
Last Saturday, I woke up to all of my recordings on my DVR gone (it was about 60% full. Tried refreshes and resets with tech support and nothing worked. It just kept happening. I'd record something, and then a few hours later it was gone. Went to a Cox store yesterday and swapped the box out for a Contour 2 and now I don't get any of my basic cable or premium channels. If I go to ESPN or HBO or MTV I get the XRE-03121 error. After refreshes and reboots for hours last night with tech support I've still got the same issue. The tech escalated the ticket, but after reading the posts about this error, it sounds like I'm gonna need a tech to come out. Is there anything short of that that has worked???1.3KViews1like0CommentsYoutube App stopped working in Contour 2 TV Box
This morning when I turned on my television to access the Youtube app on my Contour 2 TV box it will take me to the Youtube icon on the internet, but once it is finished downloading to open up the service the TV screen just goes black and nothing shows up. All of the other Apps like Netflix etc are working, just the Youtube App is dead. What is going on with this. It was working fine last night. I am nowhere near exceeding my monthly usage which I never exceed. I unplugged all of my equipment, TV, Contour 2 box, my Panoramic wifi router and it did two resets and it the Youtube App is still not working on my TV. Does anyone have a fix or suggestions. One other thing, Cox continues to made all sorts of settings changes with my phone service, security service, but they never notify me of any of the changes and then I find out that the changes are affecting my services such as receiving blocked number calls which I never had turned on, but Cox turned it on without telling me. My doctors and research staff could not make calls to my home using their blocked numbers because Cox turned on the blocked numbers service without telling me. I have several other similar examples of other settings changes being done remotely by Cox without my permission.1.6KViews0likes1CommentWhere do my recordings go?
This is the second time I’ve had to have my DVR box replaced. I asked the technician that came out if there was a way to get my recordings off the box he was taking, and he told me that they should be in the cloud...? I was never informed there was a cloud that records my shows. And after my first box was taken away my recordings never came back. Any help would be appreciated.669Views0likes1CommentOn Demand No Longer shows ALL "Free Movies" on ALL Networks with Voice Command?
Hello and Happy Holidays everyone! This is my first post in the forums as ive had several attempts to try and resolve the issues even having a Cox Service Tech come out and "Try" to explain the situation to me, but im honestly not satisfied with the answer nor do I think its the correct answer. So we have had the service for almost 2 years now with NO CHANGES to any of out services (Internet,Phone,TV) and havent had any real issues aside from the occasional down times for maintenance and so on. On the 24th of December 2019 I noticed that when I use to "Speak" to remote in order to browse ALL my available "FREE MOVIES" (HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Showtime, TNT, AMC, Ect) It no longer shows me ACTUAL MOVIES... It showcases a bunch of "Generic, Out of Country, Low Budget Films" Most are not even in English? As ive stated ive made no changes to my service and have had a tech come out to tell me "This is the new way Cox categorizes." Its very frustrating to not get what you're paying for... If anyone has anymore advice or info on this id greatly appreciate it otherwise ill be finding another cable provider. Thanks all!642Views0likes1CommentCOX VERY OWN TV COMMERCIAL ADVERTISMENT CONSISTENTLY VIOLATING FCC CALM ACT
Why are the Cox commercials consistently so much louder than the other commercials? We have done all the troubleshooting one could do. Here is what i know. They have been doing this for years. It currently on the commercials they air and advertise to sell there very own services. So as a business owner if we could turn up the volume if we paid for commercials that were aired on cox cable, contour, or digital tv then this would be a slam dunk!! NOPE! IT IS ILLEGAL AND NOT FAIR. WHEN BABIES ARE SLEEPING YOU KEEP THE VOLUME DOWN BY THE PEOPLE WE PAY OUR TV BILL TO. WE OPERATE 7 HOMES WITH THIS CABLE PROVIDER. I will be filing a complaint with the FCC regarding the CALM Act. Please join me if you have experienced the same issue?1KViews0likes1Commenta question about contour or contour 2 cable boxes (NOT THE DVR)
I was wondering .... can I have 2 contour boxes (not the DVR kind), in the same house (thus replacing a mini-box)? example... 1 in living room and another in bedroom... Or better yet, if I found an extra contour box or contour 2 box (say at goodwill, ebay, amazon, etc...), would I be able to use it in another room instead of the mini-box as I have noticed that the contour box in our living room has nicer features such as more programming and voice remote than the basic remote and programming associated with the mini-box in my room. Any answers on this subject would be great... especially if I find out that I can simply replace the mini-box with say a "goodwill, ebay, amazon, etc.." contour and only pay $2.99 instead of whatever cox is charging to rent their contour receivers each month. Would there be any problems just plugging it in where the mini-box was??3.7KViews0likes7CommentsEAS override is inoperative, but only part of the time
I live in Ocala and whenever I get an EAS override on my cable boxes, I sometimes get Cox's "Call to subscribe" message, as though I do not have a cable subscription. It most recently happened around 5:05 PM on 9/2 (possibly related to Hurricane Dorian; portions of Marion County were under a Tropical Storm Watch as of the alert time) but happens intermittently whenever an EAS code appears on my cable box. The problem is compounded by the fact that, whenever I get an EAS message from Alachua County (via WUFT), the system works as intended:I get a sequence of 4 screens of text (2 in english, 2 in spanish) with 2 EAS audio loops, all detailing the alert, then back to programming. It's just that whenever the EAS message does NOT originate from WUFT that the "call to subscribe" message appears.1.6KViews0likes2Comments
