Super slow web address resolution on a 300gb line
I've had cox bring a brand new modem/router combo, couldn't get over 50gb on the 5ghz and 20 on the 2.4ghz they didn't even do what the webpage describes as the Professional Install (for 75.00). called cox back and they sent out a tech. He rewired everything from outside and inside the the new modem still couldn't get the speeds up to par. Had to take the equipment back to a nearby store. GIVE them cred here as they refunded the 75.00 install fee. BUT we went back to the 100gb service, the speed tests say we are getting the 100gb speeds for file downloads. BUT any web page we try to go to takes forever to load all except google which loads fine. Any other site the speed is like old dialup. It seems to me and I've been in the computer field since 1969 that they are either slowing things down on purpose or their DNS servers can't keep up. since we have been betrayed by our congress and senate and lost net neutrality the speeds are going to get worse bepending on the content you want to download and/or sites to visit, not to mention streaming. COX are you going to send us all emails on which sites/services you intend to slow down? since my neighbor has century link at a whole 14gb line and her web pages load over 6 times faster than your 100gb line The wife and I might as well switch since we are no longer doing online gamming. It would be a real shame to lose a 15 year customer because of slow webpage loading. As to your phone suopport your LV 1 tech's Need real upgrading. The LV 2 are a bit better. one of the last problems we had was super slow everything, LV 1 said our modem was too old and at fault, calld back to talk to another LV 1 they couldn't find the modem as even being online. the LV 2 couldn't help either it too a LV 3 to solve the problem and about 6 hours. 1 week later speeds back down to 20-30 gb. after the above new modem ect. went back to our modem and our 1900ac nethawk router and back to full speed untill the past week or two and download seems fine but webpage resolution dow to dialup speeds. we quit calling them as the fixes if any only last a few weeks then back to the same problems. I wonder if satelite internet might be an alternitive. This is the Phoenix area I'm talking about.1.2KViews0likes1CommentNew modem for Telephone also good for internet?
Good afternoon. Since the new digital service runs on a docsis 3 modem, I was wondering if I can connect my wireless router to that modem, too? Or do I have to keep it connected to the 'old' docsis 2 modem, that I have had for a while, now? Thank you very much in advance, M3.3KViews0likes3CommentsUpgraded to ARRIS 8200 DOCSIS 3.0 modem, but speed still capped
My plan says I should be getting upwards of 100Mbps download, however I seem to be capping out ~30 or lower on speed tests, and I download at about 3 Mbps from websites and gaming platforms. Is there a way to clear this up or remove the cap from my service?1.2KViews0likes2CommentsSlow speeds with Motorola SB6141 Modem
I just ran the internet speed tool and got 8Mbps download and 9Mbps upload. I have the Cox Internet Premier package I've checked my account and found that my modem is correctly identified as the equipment that I'm using. However, I've read in this forum that if my account does not properly identify my equipment as DOCSIS 3.0, then the speeds will suffer. Am I able to check and change that on my account myself or does this have to be checked/changed by a Cox representative? I have not yet checked if my modem has the latest firmware update so that may be an issue as well.1.5KViews0likes1CommentUpgraded to DOCSIS 3.0 modem - speed still maxes out at 32mbps
Hi, I just upgraded from a SB5101U DOCSIS 2.0 modem to a SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 modem. The new modem is operational, but the max download speed I'm getting from all the speed test sites is still just 32mbps....which is exactly the same as the old DOCSIS 2.0 modem. I stumbled upon several forum posts that seem to describe the same issue, and they all made mention of having to check the "modem provisioning" or "service codes" after upgrading from DOCSIS 2.0 -> 3.0 http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/16025.aspx http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/16882.aspx http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/6204.aspx Could somebody take a look to see if my modem is "provisioned" properly and the correct "service codes" are on my account to be able to use a DOCSIS 3.0 modem? Thanks!Solved1.7KViews0likes3CommentsModem and Router question??
I have Preferred Internet. My Modem is a Netgear CMD31T 4x4. I really don't do much on the internet but i do Skype 3 to 4 times a week. Especially the weekends. I had a Netgear Router but it quit working so i went to Best Buy and got a Linksys AC1200+ cause i trusted the clerk in what he was saying. I probably didn't need something so fancy. I would've have bought a router but i like to have wireless for my tablet to play my game on and a quick check online about things. I'm thinking of returning the router and getting a less expensive router or get one that is a combo. I do like Netgear. I never had any problems until my router died which it was about 7 yrs old. So can anyone help me in figuring out what is the best thing to do??2.1KViews0likes3CommentsChecking Modem Compatibility Questions
Hey there, So I'm looking to get a new modem, because the one I have now has serious problems (not sure if I need a db check or if its the modem), but I'm just gonna get a new modem anyways. I saw on the Cox Preferred Modems page a list of compatible modems, but hey all have the package names that are required next to them. I only have Cox for internet so I'm not really sure if I have a package, or what is eligible with what. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here's what I have: My account says I'm using "Cox High Speed Internet" as my only plan. I currently have a Netgear DOCSIS 3.0 N300 (DN6300P) I've been having issues with the internet ever since I switched to a Dual Channel Modem ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm not exactly sure what I should be doing in terms of router purchasing that would be compatible with my plan. It just seems weird that my plan says I can get speeds of 150mbps but I'm still referred to get a Dual Channel Modem, seems like too little power to be putting into a dual modem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Anyway, thanks for reading, was hoping someone could sort this out and make it a bit clearer to me. EDIT: A modem that I really like but don't know it's compatibility is the Motorola MB74203.1KViews0likes1CommentUltimate Internet and Digital Phone
In my area (Connecticut) the speed of Ultimate Internet was recently increased to 300Mps. While this is great, Cox is not able to provide a phone/modem combo to take advantage of the speed increase unless you rent the TG2472 for an additional $9.99/month. I have been told the additional rental is due to the TG2472 also having a wifi/router included. So basically Cox is charging me for the Ultimate Internet but unless I pony up another $9.99 per month for features I don't need, I can't utilize the increased speed along with the digital phone. Is there another way to do this without me renting another device? I currently have the DPQ3212.Solved1.7KViews0likes1Comment
