Is there a list of cable modems that support Cox Voice that can be purchased rather than having to rent one each month for phone service?
Cox Voice modems(eMTA) can't be purchased, but are given as a free lease. Another words you have to return them when you move or cancel the service. The DPQ3212 is the work horse, which is being replaced by the TM3402.
Thanks for the info. Cox is currently charging me $7.99 / month for the modem.
Which model modem? AFAIK Cox only charges for modems with integrated routers in them. For example, the CGM4141. These are called gateways.
It is an old Cisco model. I have always had just my router connected to it but there are extra ethernet ports so it could be a gateway. It was no charge when we started cox voice but that was several years ago.
If it was me, I would trade it in at a Cox Solutions store for a TM3402. However, depending on your service level (tier), it may be overkill. Either way, it will save you some money.
