Make sure to replace the batteries first. Also, you can unpair the remote before you try to pair it just to make sure it is all set. Here is a link to show you how to unpair then pair the remote: www.cox.com/.../pairing-or-unpairing-the-contour-2-remote.html .

Do you have another remote in the home that you can try? Also, make sure you manually reboot your box just to make sure that the issue is not related to your cable box.
