Why not wait that long? Article calls it a "soft reset." Perhaps a "hard" (factory) reset has a different process.

Because waiting less time worked? Not sure how to answer that. I wasn't following a procedure. I was just winging it and about 10 seconds works for me. YMMV

Yes, but you're only rebooting. Try resetting. I'm not suggesting this will work...but it's something different.

Maybe if I have the problem again but haven't observed it since the factory reset. I will talk to the other TV watchers and give them that advice.

Oh, I misread your post. I thought it still reoccurs with apps after factory resetting to troubleshoot your BR player. Glad it's fixed.
