According to your own stats, the ACC is in 27.8% of the states Cox serves and not in 72.2% of the states Cox serves. Therefore, user Mallisonr's assertion that "most of their viewing area is ACC country" is false. No Power 5 conference has teams in the majority of states Cox serves. Pic the mic back up.
I also said "at a minimum...". My guess is that what I suggested is still more than what Cox is probably going to do... anytime soon anyway. I feel your frustration. If ESPN only has ACC games on the ACC Network and you can't get the ACC Network, you were better off before the ACC Network was created. Maybe the powers that be will do something last minute and ACC fans will still get the ACC Network on Cox this season. But, you might want to look around for another option, just in case. Good luck.
Did I say anything about Mallisonr's assertion? NO. Did I say that any one Power 5 conference has teams in the majority of the states that Cox serves? No again. What I DID do is point out that the ACC has more team representation in the total Cox network than any other P5 conference, and that the ACC is present in more Cox states than any other P5 conference. Therefore, my statement that if any "opting" needs to be be done that it should be done by the OTHER P5 conferences is spot on. As far as Cox dragging their feet on picking up the ACC Network, with 10 ACC teams in their network, this foot dragging is going to cost them a LOT of loyal customers. The installer for my new carrier will be at my house the morning August 26th. Zoltar predicts that the defections are just starting.

My "at a minimum" suggestion, if implemented, would give ACC fans access to the ACC Network and would not impact the remainder of the country. To my thinking, access via a sports package is better than no access at all. But, what you're suggesting is to negatively impact the majority of the rest of the country so that you can get what you want with no impact to you. We should all help others who can't help themselves if it's a life-threatening situation, but this isn't. I'm fine with you getting the ACC Network, but not if my Cox bill has to go up for it to happen. If I had the ACC Network, I would watch games on the ACC Network. I just don't want it enough to pay extra for it. Cox might come up with an entirely different marketing plan. They could make it part of existing packages in just those areas with an obvious ACC fan base, with the cost to be absorbed by just those markets with access to the ACC Network. But, it's all a mute point anyway if Cox doesn't negotiate a deal with ESPN soon.

That's fair enough, to a point. However note that a lot of us in the ACC footprint have had ESPN SEC, ESPN B10, etc. hidden in our bundled sports package for a LONG time now. I SELDOM watched it, but you can bet your bottom dollar that the cost is buried in my monthly bill. I didn't hear fans of other football conferences complaining while us in the ACC footprint have been subsidising their ESPN "X conference" coverage for a LONG time now. The way to make it fair would be for ESPN "X conference" to be completely a la carte for EVERYBODY. I would be fine with dropping ESPN SEC, ESPN B10, etc. and only having ESPN ACC. It should make my bill less. I don't know where you are located, but your bill could potentially go up because us in the ACC footprint wouldn't be subsidizing everybody else anymore. If they keep all ESPN "X conference" coverage for everybody, and add ESPN ACC to it, your bill could/would go up that way too. If it is completely a la carte, ESPN ACC could potentially be cheaper that the rest because of having the most teams and most states in the Cox footprint. Works for me. P.S.- I REALLY don't want ESPN SEC because I'm really tired of hearing Paul Finebaum make excuses for Clemson destroying Alabama 44-16!

My market doesn't label ESPN as ESPN-SEC. But, there's such a pro-SEC bias that they might as well call it that. On ESPN, it's an SEC world. The rest of us are just living in it.
