DVR access during cable outage
I have several shows recorded on the DVR which I haven't watched yet. If there a cable outage in the area is there a way to watch these until the cable is restored?

If you're already watching a recorded program when an outage occurs, you can continue watching that program, provided you don't use your remote to enter any DVR commands. But you won't be able to start watching a different recorded program. Even though a recording is on your local DVR hard drive, to start watching it requires a command to be sent to a Cox server which then sends back a reply that your DVR must receive. During an outage, this exchange can't be completed. So, if you notice the modem lights go out while watching a recorded program, don't touch the remote because any attempt to pause, reverse, fast forward, etc. will cause the DVR to freeze.
