Yes, I’m using the user and password from our device that I setup when installed it. I’m trying the default one too but nothing. I’m not sure how the cable gets from point A to point B (street to house). It’s underground and just comes into the house from somewhere on one side of our house into the attic and down the inside of a wall and it’s connected to straight into the gateway. (Not the contour, my mistake) There are no pass throughs along the way inside the house. It’s strange that it happens at the same time every evening which is why I question the traffic. I e also had it do it during prime wake-up time in the morning but it’s not as often. It’s entirely possible that it’s doing all day but I’m at work and don’t notice. I guess calling for a technician may have to be our possible solution. I just don’t want some person coming over and not doing a thorough check of things outside our home and trying to place blame anywhere but on themselves…
Unless you have configured a lot of options in the Panoramic, I suggest factory resetting it so you can access it locally. If it's one of the white ones, you can hold the WPS button on the back(above phone ports) for 60 seconds. It needs to be the full 60 seconds otherwise it just activated WPS(for adding wifi devices like printers). Then post the signal levels. If it is happening at night, it could have something to do with the lines outside and the temperature dropping. Cold makes the coax contract, pulling the connection loose. The sun shining on the drop can also make it heat up in the morning, also causing a issue.
When you said the cables were redone, can you explain? Did a technician do it? What did they replace or change? Are you internet only?
