Upload speed tanking. Download and Connectivity the same.

I was having this issue a couple months ago, called and "supposedly" had a technician come out. I thought they did and just failed to call me because I haven't had the issue since. I have gigablast internet, my DL runs about 800-900 and my upload speed normally runs 30-40... However when it tanks the DL stays the same but my upload is about 2.

I have a friend have the same issue, after 4 or 5 technician trips out they found that the issue was coming from a rogue smart TV on someone elses line that was causing it to backlog the line. I let me technician know this and lets hope it fixes the issue.

I will keep updated on the issue.

I am having the same problem. Cox sent some technicians to my area last week and whatever they did made a huge improvement to my upload speed. Now a few days later the slow upload speed is back. It makes video calls impossible. I am working overseas currently and remote into my home PC to help my kids with homework. That is nearly impossible with the slow upload speed. Cox's response is that they want to schedule a technician to come out to my house. And if they have to go inside then there will be a $75 charge. I have not done anything to connections inside my house. I have read many other complaints about this same issue in this forum and from google search. And I have yet to read about a solution. The prevailing opinion is that Cox's network has become overwhelmed with so many working from home and using Zoom, video calls, etc. Cos is the only high speed option where I live so I feel helpless. And my ability to communicate with my family is severely degraded.

Im in the same boat, we have has some really cold weather where I live which may be a little bit of the issue. However that would not explain the fact im getting normal upload speeds during the day and early in the morning but tanking during prime time hours.

  • I have been having this issue since about a month after installation of my "GIGABLAST" service (7 months ago). I got 300-500 DL and between 4-27 UL.
I have called, live chatted, reset modem, etc. All the usual hoops. The final straw was being told I could pay an additional $10 a month so I could speak with a technician. 'Tech support' asked me to be sure the coax cable was connected to the back of the modem as we chatted............ I responded with "Really?? I'm chatting with you on it." To which she replied "Smiling I know." That was it. How rude. Might be funny to her, but not funny here. I'm typing this reply over a new provider connection and turning my cox equipment in today.
