Unable to send Cox email after security update

We are able to receive but not send Cox email after the security upgrade. Instructions were followed. I have been on Chat with Cox tech support (they told me to log off Chat and wait an hour and try again?!) and the phone support told me to call Microsoft. Every attempt to send results in an error message. Anyone have any ideas beyond buying new computers and trying again?

    change your password for email. Then go into outlook settings and change to new password wait a few minutes and it should work.  I have outlook 2013 I changed my password and I was able to send email after that.  Give it a try

    I forgot to mention after cox changed the settings on the server in most cases it does not recognize your old password  This is for outlook only I cannot speak to other email applications

    If you do not get any error messages when you send or receive, then your accounts might have been set to Inactive since when they are inactive, no error message is indicated. Check them by logging to Cox, click on Profile and User Accounts and see if any are set to Inactive. If so, then set to Reactivate them.
